AI is going to affect the music industry

Hello folks, I have invested my young age into classical music. But I am afraid because of these AI tools, as they are making music production very easy. What are your thoughts on AI and how it will affect the music industry?

My mother was a Motown Singer, and I spent 30 years on the business side of the Music Industry.

Ai will affect it like every other tool has. It will bring in new talent, just like the DAW did, just like Digital vs Analog did, just like the MP3, or CD, or Cassette did. Just like streaming.

The industry will evolve around it, as new uses come in. There will always be a need for experts.

Music production is easier, just like writing is easier with Word.

Good music (like good writing) is not so easy, no matter the tool!

Darn it! I read the first post and had just made $800,000 in my head this year from the sales of my future AI songs, then you came along. Why do you hate me? So what if I'm toned deaf and never produced beautiful sounds? I have feelings and needs too!

I agree. There will be a way to make money with it, that the original artist will profit from as well.

I think AI, like in any industry, will simply be a tool and will not overtake all the human talent. Music needs soul and emotion, which AI will never have.

I do think it's creating more competition, as it is with digital art right now. And AI bases its results on human creation that it has scraped, so it can actually sound human at some point. I wouldn't be too quick to say it won't create good and popular tunes.

You will see some big changes on the horizon, it has already started. DJ David Guetta was on the news this morning talking about how he used ai to create lyrics. Then used a different ai program to use Eminem's voice. He played the song at a concert back in February.

He also talked about collecting Royalties since he created the music. He mentioned that we should embrace the future, but did not go into any controversy. You can easily find the video on Youtube. Also, there are several articles about it here is a link to one from the BBC - https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-64624525

Here's part of the article "Chart-topping DJ David Guetta has said "the future of music is in AI" after he used the technology to add a vocal in the style of Eminem to a recent song.

The DJ used two artificial intelligence sites to create lyrics and a rap in the style of the US star for a live show.........cont"

Once their sounds or samples are 24 bit quality sound it will be all the way over with. The sync licensing market is already half way there. Less and less offers are coming my way. Why pay me a lot of money when you can have an intern use AI for free?

    allow lower entry bar

Lower entry bar usually equals lower quality - not a good thing.

  • I totally get your concern, but let's not forget that AI can't replicate the emotion and creativity humans pour into music. Sure, AI is changing things, making some stuff easier, but it can't replace the soul of a true artist. It's just another tool, like a new instrument or tech. We should try to use it to boost our creativity rather than see it as a threat.

Look at the lyrics of latest Beyonce songs. It seems AI can write even better.

    OK, jokes out!

AI can write quite decent poems, so everything depends on people who will sing. An artist gives the power to words, not vice versa. AI cannot mimic emotions.

But in the future there will be some issues with the copyright of AI written but human sung songs.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the music industry, from personalization to copyright management and beyond. AI-generated music won't replace human creativity anytime soon, but it can be a valuable collaboration tool for artists.

I see a lot of people being afraid of AI and the truth is I was one of those people. I kept thinking what it would do to the industry that I'm in, but the more I look into Ai the more I realise it's just a tool like everything else.

You just have to learn how to use it to make yourself more efficient. One thing that Ai will never have the we as humans have and that is feelings. When creating art there is a certain element of feelings that go into the piece to make it what it's suppose to be.

I don't think that there is any Ai tool (yet) that can capture emotions as effectively as the human spirit. So start viewing Ai as more of a helper instead of a takeover sort of thing. The more you view it from this point the easier it is for you to find the strong points of Ai and use it to your advantage.

America's 1st AI superstar (link removed per forum rules) is a perfect blend between human and technology. AI's only going to replace people not willing to use it as the tool that it is. Human ingenuity and creativity can never be replaced.

    2. I am being sarcastic.
    3. Use tools that make you productive, such as AudioModify
