I can see using AI to research case law - could eliminate some clerk or paralegal positions.

...as long as the AI is not 'making up' case law to fit what you are looking for. At this point I would be double checking the info AI provided.

AI will never be able to replace my cousin Vinny!

"There were 2 youts your honor"

But seriously, I think legal zoom already has the market on this one.

I agree. But noticed that Sears and K-Mart had the market in their world, then they didn't.

Some clever chap (I'm not British, but why not?) might come along and dethrone Legal Zoom. Or, some arrogant-to-the-point-of-dumb chap will rise in the ranks of Legal Zoom, and kill it from inside.

Also, wasn't there a thing called Blockbuster that could have been Netflix but isn't?

I just read that Blockbuster was actually positioned to compete with Netflix head to head, but they were either invested in or by Enron. When Enron melted down, so did Blockbusters plans. I'm not saying this is fact. It's an anecdote I heard.

AI will reduce a lot of white collar jobs, What used to take 10 people will only take 2 once the tools are built. Be ready for a hyper competitive environment.

I'm a little shocked. After all, I have not yet heard about such possibilities of artificial intelligence. I wonder if they will be able to improve him so much that he will defend his client in court instead of a lawyer? Am I behind the times and he is already doing it?

    Is that even possible?

No you are not behind the times, you're actually on the frontier of the wild west. Also, Ai is not a person or gender.

As mentioned in the second post it may eliminate some clerical and paralegal positions. You won't see a computer set up in a courtroom arguing a lawsuit or criminal case at this time ;>) A regular lawyer does not have to worry about job security currently.

I wonder if we'll see an AI program take the place of a jury in a criminal trial?

It could be set to consider the merits of a case strictly on the evidence submitted and wouldn't be swayed by looks, inherent prejudices or whether they got enough sleep last night.

    I'm only half joking.

Wonder if the case law that would be used in AI 'research' would be real cases or cases made up by AI.

  • The legal and ethical issues that confront society due to Artificial Intelligence (AI) include privacy and surveillance, bias or discrimination, and potentially the philosophical challenge is the role of human judgment.

  • Worse still, ClitRture AI promises to bringya off with no recourse to hot guys, srs babes, or a momentarily microwaved Zucchini.

I predict 6 months from now, we all gonna be moanin' out in Wal-Mart, incapable of basic movement, jus' like we been stunned by onea them cerebro weapons evrywan talkin' 'bout.

Don't wanna imagine such a scenario, as I writhe in the canned delights areah 'longside CHESTER an' his suddenly easy admission he tapped DickRture AI for a bet ... but I gotta ...

"Every can of fruit I see, I just wanna slam it between 'em, yanno?"

I avert my gaze from the distinctively uncomfortable Chester-driven retail ballistics an' endeavor to feel for muh own legs in the quiverin' maelstrom.

"This tech has released me from myself," says Chester, kinda 3 octaves highah than before. "It's like possibilities I always knew existed within me can now find a home!"

Weird thing: I never knoo the label on Exotic Dream canned pears was so absorbent to mystery liquids.

Yeah, so I made it onta muh knees now, wondrin' why I evah signed up for the ClitRture AI Totally Bombed Vestibule offah.

Likely I can make it home if'n I can crawl fast.

"This fruit ain't enough for me," bawls Chester. "Where you going, lady?"

Thing you learn fast 'bout crap dates is how you gotta walk in a straight line sumplace aftah.

So I grab an Exotic Dream an' smack the guy so direct on the chin I accidentally break his nose in my misplaced enthoosiasm.

Turns out you cain't run too fast in slimy tights, but ima OK to honor that bleak reality.

Note to self: Jeezis muh fanjo feels inflamed as a sunburned baboon's ass.

But I make it to the exit, safe an' sound.

In the street, enhanced hooman potentials run rampant ovah all possibility in the direction of all-consoomin' oblivion.

    I check my phone.

    Uh huh: it is Toosday.

AI-lawyer sounds like an interesting platform, but I'm not sure if I would trust it with my legal needs. Here are some of my concerns:

    - How reliable and accurate is the AI-lawyer? How does it handle complex or ambiguous cases?
    - How secure and confidential is the AI-lawyer? How does it protect my personal and sensitive data?
    - How ethical and accountable is the AI-lawyer? How does it comply with the laws and regulations of different jurisdictions?

I think AI can be a useful tool for legal professionals and consumers, but it cannot replace human judgment, expertise, and empathy. I would rather consult a real lawyer than an AI lawyer. What do you think?
