It seems like historically every time new technology replaced jobs, it also created different jobs.

Just 50 years ago we didn't have home computers and now they're so common most don't think twice about how it was before everyone had one. Computers were supposedly going to put a lot of people out of work...which they may have put some out of work, but also created a lot of new types of jobs.

Also, as we get closer to the 2024 election I suppose we'll be hearing a lot of stories about how AI is shaping politics.

I'm not really impressed right now with AI when it comes to copywriting or even article writing. I think it has a long way to go yet to be a serious contender. Yes, some are excited they can write articles and such, but the articles aren't that great and lack a personal touch.

AI hasn't been able to replace creativity yet. I tried to prompt it to create a new idea for a product and could only get it to rehash what has already been done.

All the articles and all the sales pieces still are only as good as the product you're selling. If your product isn't newsworthy with an original plot or original something it will be limited in sales.

I do think AI is impressive with some of the things it's doing in the medical field. Some of the breakthroughs are life-changing.

Occasionally I'll see a comment on the forum that was written by AI. It immediately tells me the poster really has no clue what they're talking about. I think it goes for AI-written articles also.

Why do you have to get meaning from your job?
If AI frees 8 hours a day for you, can't you fill them with painting? Making wooden tables from scratch, for your friends? To sell? Or volunteer at a battered women shelter?

That's because the vast majority never make it - or get removed pretty quickly. But the technology is progressing at such a pace, I doubt anyone will be able to identify an AI-generated post before much longer.

All of us of a certain age have lived through many changes - some fundamental - in our working and leisure activities. This feels like an almost existential shift, not least because of the speed of its evolution. It's going to take a lot of people and industries by surprise.



If lost jobs remove all meaning, I foresee a booming market for counselors and therapists.

....blue collar??? trades??? any jobs that require opposable thumbs?

Entrepreneurs and employees alike can't afford to get complacent . We have to keep evolving and if we do that we'll be fine .

That's just the beginning of a question. If your whole job can be done better by AI, then you get a different job. More likely (I think) is "How can you find meaning in life if AI helps you do a better job and faster?"

If AI does the whole thing for you...why are you being paid at all? It's a shift in work, for a small segment of the work force.

When Google made encyclopedias obsolete...what happened to all the encyclopedia salespeople? the people who worked for the encyclopedia publishers? They just did something else. Just like always, throughout history.


We have that now with Google. AI just looks it up for us and assembles it in a readable package.

I know you know all this. I just love the sound of my own voice.

Interesting subject and l read recently that Freelancer, (you know the ones that own this forum) have said that their revenue has increased by about 20% due to AI jobs, or ask the ChatGPT, the right questions and it can turn text commands into works of art, etc.

The article in the paper said that people could earn an extra 10k a year just letting CT do all of the hard work then passing it on to their customer base.

So there is money there, but not as much as a real job though.

People have also tried it on the stock market with mixed results, but the top investment corporations on the planet with millions invested in stock analysis software cannot manage to get past 15% consistently right picks.

It is interesting but it is more collate and pick and choose, l would rather see half a dozen humanoid robots in a maze with machine guns and left to their own devices with CT and see what happens.

I've said this before, and I believe it, even more every day...

AI which so many were and are excited about is really putting an end to more and more online marketers for a ton of reasons. The majority of online marketers fail to see they are really rooting for something that is spelling their end.

People are not stupid. Just because you use AI to write an article doesn't mean the public is buying it.

So many online marketers that weren't doing good before AI suddenly thought AI was going to take their stuff to a whole new level...it isn't and won't.

I've done posts in the copywriting section before explaining what someone should focus on when writing an article or sales piece and yet I still don't think most pay them any attention.

Tone of voice.
Emotional connection...

and on and on...and yet I guarantee you that over 99% of people don't stop for 1 second and consider either of these and others I mentioned when they start writing something.

I've tried to correctly use tone of voice and emotions with AI. It still needed to be tweaked a whole lot to make it even close to what I wanted. Yet most that have no idea what they're doing would have thought AI did a wonderful job.

There really is a reason some make a ton of money and others are always frustrated by their results.

There are no shortcuts. AI can help you if you use it as a tool to help you...but it cannot take you to where you want to go by itself.

Too many are putting too much hope in the AI we now have (I'm referring to the AI for writing)

This AI is, In Real Life, a tool that requires a person to operate and guide what it does. seem most people think this is AI from a sci-fi movie with sentience that can do everything by itself.
