Question and Answer marketing and new technology

Question and answer platforms offer very efficient sources of FREE traffic

Why efficient?

They filter readers by interest and quality

Your "advertorial" marketing text doesn't only end up in front of interested eyeballs but have to compete with other marketers' content

Whoever delivers on the needs of the reader gets the reader's attention

At least from my experience, this leads to a higher conversion rate for mailing lists - if done right.

Yahoo Answers used to be a great source of traffic and subs but it died after it was superseded by Quora and other platforms (either standalone or parts of a larger platform)

My question: will the rise of AI chat like Claude or ChatGPT kill MOST of the audience demand for QUESTION AND ANSWER platforms?

I see the threat taking the form of CHANGED CONSUMER TASTES and EXPECTATIONS

Think about it, when you use Claude or other AI 'chat' platforms, you're not expecting a WIDE CHOICE among answers.

You are looking for THE ANSWER

Unless existing Q+A platforms adopt this format of answer delivery, they won't meet consumers' changing expectations

The downside, LESS or NO TRAFFIC for marketers and others who trade EXPERTISE/INFO for EYEBALLS

The readers also lose out since they don't have a CHOICE in the content they get - they are just HOPING that the LLM TRAINING of the platform they are using is a) accurate b) not positioning the content in such a way that it doesn't really help them

The ISSUE I described above is also the BIG threat to SEARCH RESULTS - It won't be all that surprising if Google switches to a ONE ANSWER MODEL(with a link to sources that most people won't click) in the future.

The SELF-INTEREST involved in today's online publishing ensures a) lots of content b) lots of choices

Once publishers LOSE the prospect of making money off the info they share, wouldn't there be LESS content online?

I like Quora because there are a lot of different answers to questions...

some you can tell when people know what they're talking about, and also because most questions seldom have one set answer.

The founder of Quora is on the OpenAI board, which most think caused a lot of problems with the latest snafu when whats his name was fired and then rehired.

I don't usually just want one answer. I want to hear from a lot of people who have experience with what I'm asking.

For example: I read about fasting, dry fasting, etc. There are a lot of answers from a lot of different people with experience.

AI can give me one answer, but I want to hear several answers from several people with experience

But couldn't those different experiences and perspectives be summarized as bulletpoints (with matching support or even case studies) by AI?

You raised a great point in terms of diversity of content

People are definitely looking for that

But I raise the issue of FORMAT - so 'diverse' content but summed up in "ONE" result.

As I mentioned above, this is also a big issue (if not bigger!) with SEARCH RESULTS in the future.

I dont think it will, the questions people are asking is looking for peoples experience and what they struggled with and how they overcame and how they actually made it, i admit ai is more than a robot its almost like a human persective, but its still like a machine it is amazing reviewing a url and seo, but the human aspect i can never truly understand the same as a person who is actually been there and not the same as a user experience and how they actually felt and what they did

AI will not replace say Quora any time in the near future.

AI is flawed... and the more this whole AI thing plays out... its flawed intentionally.

The reason for bad links in College papers is because of all the dead links out on the internet. Across the internet 40% of all links are broken.. and then you read articles about how AI has 2 out of 5 links that are bad ( IE - made up ) - the reality is that would be a learned behavior.

AI cant specifically 100% answer any given question ( if the AI is truly self taught ) It can only give a response based on percentage of data leaning one way or another.

The only source at this point in time that can correct AI would be Google... but they cant do so at the search level, because they would then be cleaning the data sets of all of its "Rivals"

Google could remove all of the dead links from its search yesterday... BUT Google is allowing Chat and the others access to flawed data. It will come down to All the other AI engines... and then Googles AI engine. Googles AI engine will #1 be personal, and #2 contain minimal ( at most ) flawed data.

And until this happens... relying on AI "For an Answer" vs a crowd sourced collection of answers - is to an extent a no brainer - but many will rely on AI

Gartner research recently posted a projection of the effect of AI on organic search results. By 2028, 50% of search traffic volume will DISAPPEAR!

    See https://www.gartner.com/en/newsroom/...-media-by-2025

This stems from the "ONE ANSWER" expectation AI platforms are training consumers on
