Microsoft has announced new Copilot+ PCs during their May 20 event. These new devices are designed for Microsoft's AI assistant, Copilot.

According to Microsoft, these Copilot+ PCs are "the fastest, most intelligent, Windows PCs ever built."

Chime in.

    • Why not? For a personal laptop, obviously never. AI having access to all your files, that's insane.

They might say it's private.. But when needed, NSA will have not only a full access to all your files, like now, but also ability to search on your computer much faster using pre-trained AI.

For a company laptop though, sounds like a good productivity improvement for employees, and boss can get more money off you.
  • I have Co-Pilot with my Microsoft account. I haven't tried it yet, though. It's not as accessible as Microsoft shows in their marketing.

  • Mebbe we should see what the AI Dildsyscape delivahs as it quivahs.

"We've been donning impossibly more magnitudular helmets of a VR+ capacity since like the 90s!"

Sumtimes you don't gotta evin bleat.

Did the miracle git here before your idle echo?

Or didja jus' wanna git on with stuff sans no overarchin' MODDUL?

  • 1.At this time I don't believe this will be a faster computer than the M3-powered iOS computer Microsoft claims, perhaps in some handy Microsoft-only tests.

    2. The five uses of GPT chat compared to the use of artificial intelligence using its entries in Microsoft called Copilot are not at all the same thing, even the free version of GPT chat is much more effective.

    3. Of course, Microsoft is trying to keep up with new trends, but the creators of the operating system, along with their creation, are no longer in first place... This reminds me of the presentation of some Chinese products from manufacturers whose manufacturers always say that they are much faster than their American counterparts)))
  • All the major PC manufacturers are developing AI computers.
  • I have a preview of co-pilot... it offers me all sorts of 'stuff'.....

-create images of friendly, furry monsters around a campfire
-what are common flight patterns of birds and why do they do it
-summarize recent breakthroughs in medical research

I have the choice of how stories/info is presented:
    -more creative
    -more balanced
    -more precise

---------------and, trying a 'suggested topic' - got the lyrics below----------

"write a blues song that laments the loss of time" (co-pilot suggestion)

    Not a song I'd remember....at all.

I know A.I. has many great uses - but I think spending much time on co-pilot or similar program - where everything you ask is quickly answered in a general way....will be as dumbing down as social media has been.

Curious: Will A.I. used in this way create a closed system - where anything you look for or want to compare or want to buy will give you answers that KEEP you within the system, that keep you BUYING through that system...
    ....or maybe I'm overthinking it.

    • Ha!

If'n my Princessly melodiousness were to be brought to bear 'pon them words, you would surely carry the experience to yr grave.

      Which would be like INSTANTANEOUS.
    • But when we all singin' along ... who cares, zackly?
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I switched over to Microsoft Edge soon as they announce Copilot.

    Been loving it.

AI right in my browser on any page I visit. So I am definitely interested in looking into these new PCs even though I'm an apple user.

Microsoft is winning big in the AI arms race, that's for sure.

  • Well can someone tell me what this system its diferent from the normal ones like windows ? What can do more ? Thanks

    • AI on these PCs is available everywhere, in MS Paint, Word, etc. You can also set it up, so that any video you play, gets auto-generated subtitles

Also, you can make your microphone to automatically translate anyone speaking to English

They even have a dedicated Copilot key, so you can access AI by pressing on a dedicated button

In other words it's easier to use AI, you don't have to jump to your browser all the time, it's in almost every app

  • it's clear they're aiming to push the boundaries of what's possible with AI assistance in computing. How do you think these new devices will shape the way people interact with their PCs, and what potential benefits or challenges do you anticipate?

  • My idea of an AI-powered computer is something as quick, easy and intuitive as:

    • "Please resize the images in this directory [source directory] with 1280 px being the longest side while maintaining aspect ratio, then save it in this directory [save dir path] in PNG format with minimal to no quality loss while retaining its original filenames";

    • "Design a WordPress theme based on the 2024 default theme, with the following changes: (1) [requirement 1]; (2) [requirement 2]; ... (and so on)";

    • "I want to automate the concatenation of the content of these 13,680 XLS spreadsheets in this folder [dir path] as one sheet, sorted based on column B, with all duplicate entries removed, no blank rows, and saved as test.csv in my desktop"; and

    • "Please post this material that I wrote along with the elements that I included [path to ZIP file] in my WordPress site as a new post. All necessary info is in the files, including metadata like categories, target keywords, alt text for images, and so on. Please ensure that the images are in the ideal size when embedded in the most suitable sections of my post. Here are my WordPress credentials: [wp creds]" ...
