Apple announced the new iOS 18 at its annual WWDC conference. That iOS 18 will come wtih Apple's take on AI, aptly called Apple Intelligence. However not all iPhones will support Apple Intelligence, and only iPhone 15 and 15 Pro Max will support the new AI.

    I don't use Apple products...

but the post reminds me of an article I read a few days ago...

it was from several business-minded people who had experienced the dot com revolution of the 90s.

    AI isn't going away...

but, like the dot com boom, there were tons of companies jumping in on the revolution.

Most faded away...a few stayed and made it to the top.

    It's the same with AI.

Everyone is jumping on the AI bandwagon trying to make as much as they can as quickly as they can.

Eventually, most will fade away and only a few will come out on top.

having lived through and profited from the dot com era... I can tell you the similarities of then and today are about slim and none.

Back in the 90's you could start a business - pretty much any business and put it online and it would take off. What separates then from now... is the product. the product providers ( those that have an actual AI engine ) are just short of few and far between. ChatGPT and X and Google, and Open AI, and etc etc.. the pool is not that large. Now the current boom is not so much everyone and their brother, sister, grandma, cousin etc developing AI data sets... its all the above using the existing data sets and creating "services".

I would may liken this to maybe the auto industry. there are only so many auto manufacturers, but the aftermarket parts market is huge. AI falls into this model... there are those that have the data, and then there are those that are creating products that use that data.

Not quite sure I follow all your logic here.

We are approaching almost 200 AI platforms right now and the list is multiplying by the day.

Yes, you're talking about the big 3 or whatever, but there are tons of others using the same platforms they're using to build on...just like the dot com boom of the 90s where everyone jumped on the internet...there were tons of companies starting and most died out.

I commented on an article I had read from some of the top dogs in the AI world...their logic to me made sense.

I appreciate your feedback, but I think I'll disagree on this one unless I can be persuaded otherwise.

Will AI provide all the real life experiences of actually doing?

Will it be a shortcut, or require even more maintenance? Will we small potatoes operators be able to set it and forget it, leaving our AI to do all the work?

You big boys who play in stocks, have portfolios, etc. are right to keep an' eye on the AI future. I doubt if many Warriors will benefit from either the bubble burst or the ongoing "to the right and up" climb up the charts.

I mean, already most Warriors can't/won't take the time to master a skill, craft, trade or acquire useful knowledge which can be leveraged. If this were a subject at a Wall St. forum, or an Investor forum, it might matter.

          But here?
          Seriously???

The guy who has a WSO that promises AI to give them 50 bux a day will thrive here.

But I do find it harder and harder, even with AI to find historical information...and I suspect many a name IMer from Mat Boy to Surfer Dude have staff scrubbing as much history as they can from the Internet, that might be a good investment, you'd have IMers lining up to use AI which changes their history. A gold mine.

One thing, I think, will continue...people will continue to buy and sell their "stuff", "junk" and personal properties, so until AI takes over the need for fast cash in the hand by selling something...some of us will not notice what Wall St. is doing.

You don't have to be a big boy to play in the stock market.

I started day trading a couple of years ago, after my husband
passed, to keep myself occupied, to learn something new, and
            to generate additional income.

I had heard about day trading and thought it was something
that people on Wall St did, I didn't know that anyone could open
an E-Trade, Fidelity, Schwab, or whatever broker account with
a couple hundred dollars (depending on account requirements)
and buy and sell stocks along with everybody else.

There is a learning curve, they say it takes a couple of years
to learn the ropes, but any smart IMer could learn to day trade
and I would highly recommend it.

It is just about the easiest money you could make, it almost
feels like stealing, and yes, A.I. is right on time to help the day
trader, or any other type of investor, in a number of ways.

Just another Marketing Gimmick to get users to buy a new phone. Apple has never been the same since Steve Jobs passed away. Just like the Microsoft Ai computer, mentioned in another thread ( link below). They are using buzz works to reach into consumers' wallets.

So maybe let me explain it like this....

With the Internet boom... you had "The Internet" ( Service Provider ) and then a whole slew of websites ( services ) make sense?

With AI the "REAL" money is going to be on the top end ( Service Providers ). The last I tracked there are something like 40 ( and in reality, probably not even that many ) Primary service providers - AKA the holders of the DATA. Aside from say Microsoft, Amazon, X ( Grog ), Apple, and Google... data is very limited.

Google could tomorrow shut down ChatGPT - pretty sure they wont... I am sure the revenue flow is considerable. and pretty much by the looks of things in regards to the absolute data aspect of AI... the BIG DATA Monster Service Provider players are Microsoft, Amazon, X, and Google. Apple AI is in part using ChatGPT - Apple as a DATA collector is missing the knowledge data base IE "Hey siri how do I?"

In the future to near future... there will be an absolute battle over ownership of data. Right down to the single user, The use of my data... my knowledge that is out on the internet, that another company scrapes and utilizes for a paid service? It aint going to fly forever.

So the end service side of AI.... utilizing another's AI core to do functions will boom to a point. The big 4 wont have to "BUY" out anything, they can simply create their own version of... an add that as an add on service to what they already have.

*** a programmers side note here is the big 4 allowing the use of their API for these functions - they can very quickly identify how a service is pulling its data and reverse engineer anything and everything -unlike the dotcom boom... what was primarily being bought was either traffic, or the back end ( programming ) that made things function.... in this current era the back end is one of the big 4 and a series of prompts.

Hope that clarifies my opinion ( probably not, but itried )

Yeah, we're on different pages here when I mention an AI bubble burst.

The dot com bubble burst (to keep it very simple) didn't have as much to do with the internet and all this and that as you say. Just as the current bubble building doesn't have as much to do with ChatGPT, etc.

The dot com bubble burst because tech stocks were way overvalued and there was a frenzy in the market with stocks going up and up (one of the huge reasons).

We're getting to the same place now, which is why most analysts say we're headed for another bubble burst.

Look at Nvidia stock, one of the biggest players in the AI race. They make chips for AI. Their stock is absolutely through the roof crazy (just one example).

I could post article after article on the coming probable AI bubble burst from analyst after analyst and those who were players in the dot com bubble pop. But, I don't think we're on the same page in the argument.

I don't really care about ChatGPT or Google's platform...

I'm talking about how the market is going crazy right now with way overvalued stocks and a rush to make a buck, and the fallout that came from the pop of the dot com bubble and the maybe (highly predicted by many analysts) Ai bubble bust and the fallout that will come from it.

Love the pun on "Apple Intelligence"! But seriously, iOS 18 sounds exciting! Wonder what kind of AI features Apple Intelligence will bring to the table.

Apple Intelligence sounds exciting, but limiting it to the iPhone 15 lineup might disappoint loyal users with older models. It'll be interesting to see how Apple's approach to AI stacks up against competitors and if the exclusivity drives upgrades.
