Backlink from own Google+ page

I am using ahrefs to discern where my competitors are besting me. For one a whopping 94 domain rating is coming from their own Google+ page. Doesn't seem right to me, and I have compared their Google+ page to mine and others. It appears the major difference is that each post on the Google+ page includes a link to their main website. Is this a viable strategy, or is it just an anomoly. Why then would you not have a backlink "credit" from one's own Google My Business account?

I assure you, a link from their Google+ page is not causing the difference between their rankings and yours. There are many, many things that affect which website will rank higher than another and not one of those things is a link from Google+.

Cognitive SEO had a very thorough article today about why one site may rank better than another (even one with a very spammy link profile) - https://cognitiveseo.com/blog/16910/...link-profiles/
