Hi all,

I would like to integrate an eccomerce site (webshop) on an existing blog. Until now this have been two seperate websites, 1 for the blog and 1 for the webshop.

On the web I can find quite some information about advises for the other way around (integrate blog on existing eccomerce site), but I am integrating a webshop into an existing blog.

Because the blog already has already quite a lot of content and visitors, I would like to make sure it will not suffer (out of SEO perspective) from integrating the webshop into it. It would be nice if the webshop (after integration on the blog) would gain extra SEO value from the blog, but for me the most important is the blog may not suffer in SEO value from the integration.

I think I have the following options:
- Make a subdirectory for the webshop on the blog: www.blog.com/webshop

- Make a subdomain for the webshop: shop.blog.com

- Or leave it like it is now: www.blog.com and www.webshop.com (this one has my least interest)

For SEO perspective what would be the best option do you think?

SEO on-page is the essential part of seo. First Analyse your website, keyword analysis with high search volume and low competition, place the keyword in the Title, Page URL, meta keywords, meta description, H1 tag and place the 1-3 related keywords in the content, image alt property, and the page loading time is one of the major factor.

After you can start off-page to increase the visible of your website in search engine search results page.

I am suggesting you to make your ecommerce as the main domain and move your blog under the ecommerce domain as sub directory.
    example:
make your ecommerce domain as www.webshop.com/
Move your blog under the ecommerce domain as www.webshop.com/blog

you can maintain your both webshop and blog in a single domain and you can easily optimize your website for better SEO.

I would actually recommend the opposite. Google seems to be less likely to call it a thin affiliate if the main part of the site is on the root and the store is in a folder. That's just my 7 cents.

According to my experience, blog.com/website is the best option. Because sub-domain is considered as separate factor. If your webshop is present within the blog (blog.com/website) then all the traffic of your blog will be easily diverted to your webshop because it becomes the part of your blog, not separate domain like shop.blog.com.

Have you considered the other points of view? Now you have 2 sites... you can sell one and still have a site (stream of income).

Why do you want to integrate them?

SEO-wise, not much of a difference... between the options.
