Keyword Pyramid

I have been tasked with creating a Keyword Pyramid for a couple of clients. I know keyword research, but my problem is I don't really understand what a keyword pyramid is and why they are valuable for SEO. What I do know is certain keywords belong at the bottom of the pyramid (home page) and move on up in different levels of importance. Can anyone please point me in the right direction to understand this concept and how it works for huge retail vendors? Thank you.

    (Key Word) Is the main element of any kind of Business.
    Make sure a competitor analysis with the same keyword and choose some unique keyword to get best results on search engine.
