There are multiple ways that you can setup multiple operating system on your own desktop or laptop computer. Creating multiple OS partitions is quite easy. The problem however is, that if you are performing a serious cross platform compatibility testing with complete coverage, you would have to test your webapp or website across atleast 15-16 operating systems such as windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP (yes, some people still use Windows XP!), Mac High Sierra, Sierra, El-Capitan, Yosemite, Mavericks etc...
Maintaining multiple operating systems devices is a major challenge, especially Mac devices and legacy windows devices. But there are many other ways you can test your websites. There are many online Cross-Browser Testing Platforms like LambdaTest which provides you platform to test you website on cloud.

in my opinion if you want to test your website on browsers of various Android and iOS devices, then you can use a free online website called . On this website, you can check your website's look and feel on a lot of iOS and Android devices like Samsung Galaxy, Nexus, iPAD, etc.

I believe there are tools that can help you in browser compatibility testing. You can use Browserstack. It is web-based and it is used by other big brands, too.

Simple. Download VirtualBox from Oracle. I have the following running on one machine. No need to technically install any of them other than onto a virtual HD file.

    Mac OS X High Sierra
    OpenSuse
    Mint
    Fedora
    Lubuntu
    Kubuntu
    Xubuntu
    Ubuntu
    CentOS
    Kali
    Windows XP
    Windows 7
    Windows 10
    Windows Server 2016

    Virtual Box is freeware.
