What should be the backlinks to post content length ratio

Hi
I have read many blog posts to see the number of backlinks in that particular post. It usually ranges from 3 to 90, depends upon the post.
The thing that I want to know that is there any criteria to fix number of backlinks in one article ....? Or something similar.

    It all depends on the content in question. You can link out to other websites as long as it makes sense and it is absolutely necessary. Keep in mind that your goal is to keep visitors on your website as long as possible, not to send them off to other sites. That is unless you are sending them to the other sites via affiliate links.

    I've never really followed any criteria. I typically have 1-2 per paragraph at the max. I don't plan this, this is just how it ends up.
