Do you think insurance is essential?

New here, not sure if this is the right place. I've just started up as a freelance social media community manager and one of my clients has asked if I have professional indemnity insurance. Is this normal? I looked into it, and I just don't see how it can apply!

Is this like, if I post something and they have a PR meltdown as a result and then they decide to sue me. First of all, should this get alarm bells ringing for me if my client is already thinking about the possibility of suing me?!

It isn't expensive to get insurance, but it's obviously another expense to think about in the very very early stages of my career!

So, does anyone else have freelancer insurance? What would you recommend?

Wow good question! Happy Tuesday to you by the way. Does anywhere on your website or your client materials or agreements state that your clients agree not to hold you liable for any losses incurred due to following your recommendations? Silly question, but had to be asked.
