Jobs you can do from your laptop?

The first piece of advice I would give is to ignore any messages offering help. Someone will see that you have a little bit of money to invest and they'll quickly start to convince you to give it to them. Of course, the promise is they'll teach you all they know, they have bunches of clients, they live in a big house on the hill, etc.

Ignore them.

If something really sounds good, post about it here to get feedback before dishing out your savings to unknown "friends."

PS Read the forum. There is tons of advice here and all anyone would need to get started making $ online. Ask if you are unclear on how to do something but the best bet is to read, do, and then adjust if it doesn't work as planned.

Welcome Rick, glad to have another member on WF. Great question by the way. Been at this online marketing since the 90's but direct mail before that and I have to say, a ton of the same principles apply to the online world as they do to direct response/direct marketing.

Firstly let me say you're a true warrior, on chemo and still strong enough to learn this sh*t! Wow!

Yeah man, what I would say is just focus on one thing. So many "shiny objects" out there to get distracted with. Don't fall for any of the scams and there are a LOT of them.

1) Find a niche (something you like and are knowledgeable with). Become an affiliate for whatever product or service you decide on promoting.

2) Determine which marketing method floats your boats. Many are effective. From social media, to email marketing, blogging, combination of both and a bunch more. Don't spend too much time on this, just pick one and study the sh*t out of it. But again, don't study forever like some people. Most of your learning will be trial and error. Doing is better than reading or watching videos. Let the studying portion of your time be enough to just get a primer.

3) Put what you learned in step 2 into practice. Optimize and tweak until conversion is primed and then scale 'er up.

Sure there are lots of little nitty gritty details but nothing you won't learn and too much to explain here and really pointless to do so because everything varies by niche and marketing. You will learn all the specifics for your choices of those along the way anyway and will find your own ways of owning and making them your own style and what works best for you.

That's my take on your question. I hope this helps.

I believe your best bet is to learn how to code.
Is a well-paid gig and while there is competition out there is not nearly as competitive as being a writer or a VA.

Hi Rick! It's good that you do have a positive mindset, let's keep pushing forward. Are you familiar with upwork or freelancer? You might find something in there that might suit your current skill sets. If you are into blogging then you can earn money from there. What is it that you like doing most when you are on your laptop? Maybe we could start from there so we could find something that might fit you best.

Coding is the perfect thing to learn and do from your laptop.

Unlike Internet Marketing, with coding there is a clear income path for you to follow.

You can go from zero to $100k+ in the span of about 3-5 years, incrementally making more and more money along the way.

Do some kind of a basic course on Object Oriented Programming, which will lay down the conceptual foundation for learning literally every popular language such as JavaScript, PHP, Python, C#, C++, etc.

The best resource for learning coding is pluralsight.com.

It is self-paced learning via video lessons that's crazy cheap ($30 a month).

There are so many sites asking peolpe to write for them and you will get payment for what you write. You can be paid from $35 to $75 per article based on the quality of content. You said you can write content. There are tons of site out there who are looking for writers. You also said that you can do phone support. Every company has a customer support team so it should be easy for you to find jobs that like that. Just look for job posting sites on the internet.

Hello everyone, I'm following this post very closely. Thank you all for your encouragement and advice.

I have heard of the sites you all mentioned above - I applied and I wasn't able to get any gigs. I'm also not sure if I'd have a passion for coding - I will look it up tho.

I'm definitely looking at things from a positive perspective. Mike Tyson once said, "it's life on life's terms." To think I'm exempt from the suffering in the world is naive of me. I'm ok with that reality.

To go more into detail, I have a rare muscle disease called "Dermatomyocitus". Unfortunately, there's no cure. I've been bed ridden, similar to Stephen Hawking.

Now I can press 800Lbs with my feet. I can squat 2 to 3 plates. I also used to be 280 Lbs and I'm now 155. I don't give up.

This hit me at 15, and I've been in opposition for it for 9 years. My Dr's told me, I'll been in pain and on a form of Chemo therapy for the rest of my life.

When you have to be brave, sometimes you put your mind aside and just move.

So posters, my mission is simple. Just make above $2000 per month and I can move to Astoria queens. It's been my dream to move to Ny for over 5 years.

So I'm open to any source of income at this point. You may say, it depends on what you like. And I'm not certain if I can do a conventional job.

I like to connect the dots. I saved up over 20K so, I can always invest. I aspire to make a lot of money. I just don't know what to do.

I do love to solve problems for people, offer life advice, stuff like that. I also have an entrepreneurial side of me. I want to send semi's of precious medals to recycling yards.

Middle man jobs are interesting. Connecting the dots. Foreclosure cleanouts. I feel I have the spirit of a powerful businessman in me, I'm just not where I need to be placed.

I excel at WHATEVER I put my mind to.

P.S. I *understand all things take time a patience. I just want something I can look forward to when I wake up.

Hi! You seem to be a good in writing, so it's possible to try yourself in copywrighting, and it doesn't need investments.

One thing I thought I'd mention as a good example of how I think...

Roofers need waste bins to throw shingles in. I offer them a barrel then have the dump truck take it to a yard that pays for shingles.

The problem is that based on the price of the container, (distance) and how much the yard pays. The math just didn't work out.
But it's elements that are already there and I'm making the connection.

You have the potential to do everything on your own

Yet you say you excel at anything you put your mind to. From your history, I don't doubt that at all.

Put your mind to freelance writing - create a unique profile on freelance sites - don't talk about your illness - tell prospective buyers about your maturity, willingness to work hard to 'get it right' for the customer, etc. Do some writing to provide samples of what you are capable of. You can't just sign up and wait for someone to hire you.

Neither can you bid here or there and hope to be noticed. If you create a professional profile, write individualized bids - and place 50+ bids a day....you will get gigs.

I chose this one thing of all the ideas listed above - because it's possible. No, you will not earn $35-75 per article starting out. BUT - $2k a month working part time is very doable for a freelance writer who can write well in English as you do.

Question: How much effort did you put into 'getting gigs'? Why do you think it didn't work? Did you spend time online learning about 'how to start and succeed a a freelance writer'?

Keep your money - you may need to invest in software or tools later. Don't start buying "how to" products - start researching/reading/learning. Anything you choose to do online will have a learning curve.

Ezinearticles used to be a power player for marketers - but no longer of much use. However, if you sign up for that site (free) they will send you a series of emails on 'writing' that is one of the best training series on content writing I've seen anywhere.

I suggest you decide what you want to start with and then create a 'goals thread' in the "Warrior Path" section. If you have a 30-60-90 day plan of action - that's a good way to keep yourself on track.

Content writing and VA work as freelancing gigs can be very competitive, so you might want to learn how to code like some of the others here have suggested. Not everyone has the patience for it, so you'll find a lot of people who'll have need of your services.

Since you can write content you can also start a blog on the side, become an affiliate marketer. You can also write about your experiences if you want. Who knows, you might give other people out there the strength to make it through their own illnesses too.

There's a lot of work that you can do from your laptop. Content writing is a good source of income. Many companies hire virtual assistants from different parts of a world to write for them about a variety of topics, and you can do the same. If you're a versatile writer, you can definitely make a lot of money out of this.

Graphic design and video editing is also on demand right now, and relatively easier to learn than coding if you don't have any background on them. You can set up accounts on platforms like Behance and Fiverr. Some companies look for location-specific platforms like OnlineJobs.ph so try to find a VA company in your area and apply for an online job there.

there is a lot of field in online. you have to choose one field and work on it. you can work on graphics design, S.E.O, YouTube, affiliate marketing, video editing etc. these are so popular work nowadays. choose any of that and keep working on best of luck.

I would get fully stuck in to freelance digital marketing. There are loads of great free resources out there to get a solid foundation in everything from SEO (Check out Moz), PPC to UX. Some people mentioned learning to code - i think this is a great idea and would really benefit you. Get to grips with the fundamentals (HTML and CSS) and if you like move on to others. If you read up a little bit about what different coding languages are generally used for, you might be able to specify better for yourself which ones to learn. From there you should be able to pick up a laptop, hop on a train and go where you like (within reason) and find someone looking for the skills you would then possess.

I've made a lot of money as ghostwriter, but it does take time and a lot of work.

Keep bidding for jobs to build your portfolio and gain some testimonials.

You can run an ad here on the forum in the Warriors for Hire section. Then post a link to it in your signature. You can offer a discount for the first ten clients but don't do anything for free.

Don't focus on being the cheapest. Focus on being the best.

The clients who want to pay you the least amount of money will be your worst clients. They are not worth the agony they'll cause you.

When you have time between projects for others, work on your own books. Publish on Kindle or from your own website.

Start your own blog and write about a topic you enjoy that also has a buyer's market.

As someone already mentioned - check into copywriting. It can be a lucrative type of writing work.

Definitely try out affiliate marketing. You can roughly start with a $100 to $200 budget to test and you will be able to see results. With that low of a budget, I would start buy doing list building here on the forum (or on a forum in your niche). Forum marketing is a great way to build up a following and audience to market affiliate offers to. Another great way is building a YouTube channel. This can be done easily for $100-200 (cost of equipment).

Hi! You can make youtube, facebook videos on your laptop.

If you can write and can come up with some creative content than start a blog. Use SEO to rank your site and your posts. Once you get this figured out you can move onto social media or youtube.

Of course you want to write about something you can have an affiliate offer for.

Hi, Rick, sorry to hear about your medical condition, my Mother went through Cancer and is fine now, and all l can really say on your condition is when doctors say that "They say that it is incurable" that they are talking about their field only.

As for the rest, Fiverr does work, but it is consistent peanuts, (l sold stuff there, etc).

What you have to do is, find someone who has endorsed some gig he had done, (preferably twice) in the comments and politely ask him or her for some work.

Don't do this too often, though. But it is a good way to get one or two gigs, that should launch your career.

But with 20 gig slots only, and a TOS that is moving more along the "work for $4 only" attitude, it is only good for experience with clients and possibly motivation although if you want $2000 a month, unless you are lucky, it may not be the best option?

Yes, coding tried that and learned basic, and some HTML a while ago, it can be fun, but not for me either.

What else, l won't suggest graphics, as that takes a good 8 months to learn the basics and years to get really good at it, and a lot of hard work for a relatively long time.

You could also try Ebay? Australia used to get Gillette products but some popular ones have been discontinued here, (deoderant being one).

So l buy mine online now, usually at high prices.


Seems like a good business to get into. Obviously you might have a room full of the stuff, but it is not perishable, and in demand, at least here. At worst you could probably recover your costs, but l havn't tried this myself, but l do buy it usually from the UK, or a third world country, if the price is right.

Online Trading perhaps, l have spent the last few weeks doing that and have produced encouraging results, but a lot of people blow their money on it, so it is not for everyone.

Forget all of the crap you have read here. You know already that not a single thing mentioned is right for you. You feel it in your gut.

There is but one path for you, my friend and that is to provide inspiration and motivation to others.

While there's probably not a worse way to try and make money and I generally ridicule the concept - blogging could 'possibly' work for you. Combine it with a YouTube channel and you could be on to something.

Don't waste the gift you have been given, or better to say - created for yourself, on the mundane. You were not put on this Earth to code (too, funny), be affiliate marketer (funnier, still) or anything along these lines.

Go out and change lives as you've changed your own.

Freelancer, Design, Social media management, programming,etc. Those are what you can do with laptop and make money.

The problem with having money is that people will want to take it from you but take my advise and HOLD ONTO IT. First of all you have many ways to make money online. Like you I had money to invest. But what I decided to do was find something I wanted to do first. I picked Affiliate marketing. without spending a dime. I researched everything I could learn on Affiliate marketing. Using youtube and the forum. But also I looked into video marketing. Now here is your answer When I made up my mind what I wanted to do and had some knowledge I started my business. But only spent money on what helped me in my business. Not spending money on this and that. focus and learn what you want to do and go forward. Today I am working in my retirement making a good income. You can do the same. Spend your money to invest in your business not giving it to anyone else. Hope it helps

Its simple since you could do it about your job.

Have you looked into the Kindle Marketplace? I think its a goldmine for earning money if you can create enough books that do well - i 'know' a couple that earns 6 figures purely from the Kindle Marketplace.

With Laptop You can do a home based job like which includes online as well as offline.
But there are too many frauds are providing these jobs, what they will going to do is first they will ask for registration fee & some of the their attached fee then they will make you fool.
So, be aware of that.
But you also have so many great options which you can choose to earn with working in your free-time.
I would suggest online part-time jobs are best as you can do this in your free time as per your convenience and earn.

You can do programming, create contents such as video of you doing stuffs especially tutorials, create online shops then dropshipping, writing articles, making websites, etc.

It largely depends on your spare time and your passion. There are a lot of things you can try.

You could do a work at home job, there are plenty out their such as customer service/support.

You could offer content writing as a service for other marketers and offer the service on a site like Fiverr or similar, like article writing.

The list could go on and on, obviously, this forum is a great place to start and the largest and best source of written information that exists on Intenet Marketing.

YouTube is a good way to find ideas, just search for make money from home etc... you will learn quickly what is out there and a lot of it is rubbish, but there are gems to be found and good for generating ideas.
