Decide on the niche that you wish to focus on, first, and make sure that you are getting involved in a profitable one. Study your competition. Determine the kinds of products that you want to sell, then look for a supplier. After that, choose best sellers when trying to create your product list. Make sure that you constantly communicate with your supplier and maintain a good dropshipper-supplier relationship with them. -Micah

Be very, VERY careful selecting suppliers. We used to run a dropshipping and physical shipping hybrid model business. The big thing I would warn you about is making sure your suppliers have ample supply during the busy season. I found out that a lot of my wholesale suppliers doubled as e-tail suppliers who would prioritize their own retail customers over ours when times got busy.

Because of this there were several instances where they ran out of inventory and I was forced to refund my customers. That is just my personal experience, and the lesson I learned is to be cautious with dropshipping.

I agree with Kent. Also be aware that if your suppliers are from China, they will not work during the Chinese New Year. They typically take 3-4 weeks off for this holiday. There is also a higher chance of fraud and of stuff being stuck in customs. I have a video on my YouTube channel, DripRevenue, that talks about how AliExpress dropshipping is dangerous and dying out.

What Kent has mentioned are very true, as well. You must be updated of your suppliers' supply, especially during the busiest seasons. Remember that you aren't the only dropshipper depending on them. -Micah

It would be okay to get multiple suppliers for certain products, so you won't have to worry about running out of stock, especially when peak seasons hit. -Micah
