I would recommend going with the combination of Adwords and basic SEO for B2B startup. As you would not get much traffic in starting, you should rely on Adwords to get traffic initially. you should not expect much traffic from organic SEO efforts. It will be a good idea to go with both traffic sources.

Hands down PPC is going to be quicker to generate a return.

If you are in B2B why not go direct to the businesses you are targeting?

    Best regards,

The choice (SEO or PPC) finally boils down to two things

    1. How much time do you have?
    2. Marketing $$ ?

    I am in NO RUSH...

If you have time to generate leads, SEO is always a good choice. Search engine optimization takes months (not a few days) to show significant results. As you build your authority using SEO techniques, you will observe higher lead-flow to your site.

    The downside:
SEO is not static; it changes time to time, thanks to the unpredictable nature of search engine algorithms.

I want to generate leads fairly quickly (Short Sales Cycle):

PPC is the way to go in this regard. Why? Adwords allows you show your ads in the top 4 slots of Google. Moreover, AdWords (and other platforms) allow you to analyze the keywords and other aspects of your competitors' paid search campaigns.

A word of caution: Adwords campaigns are like a faucet. Once you open it up, it will keep draining your money.

Hence, it is important to do your homework before launching a campaign.

There is NO perfect campaign; with trial and error (calculated risks), you will be able to find the right combination of metrics to drive a successful campaign with high CTRs and conversions.

Now you can decide for yourself which route to take!
In my opinion, use a combination of both.
    Cheers!

Use both methods to generate traffic and leads for your B2B business.

Other business owners will only spend money with you, once they see that you are also spending advertising dollars on growing your own business.

Search Engine Optimization is a long term approach for generating traffic to your websites. So you won't reach the first page of search engine results on your first try. You will want to add regularly more content to your website that's relevant to the search terms you want to rank for. So it may take months before you begin to see your website in the #1 position in search results.

Pay Per Click advertising is the short term approach to seeing an immediate return on your advertising investment. You will have to be highly skilled in PPC advertising, or your ad campaigns may be rejected on the AdWords platform.

You can outsource your SEO and PPC efforts to virtual assistants (V.A's) if you are by the means. You can find VA's here on the warrior forum

Yes I also agree with @ncodetech but not only basic SEO for B2B platforms, coz B2B have lots of categories and sub-categories so need to find and select the right category is some technical. So Harish M I will suggest you do proper SEO and then go for Paid Marketing.

SEO will take some time... you should already have started that..
Then start off slow with the PPC... you can always scale up when you see some wins!

It all depends on the budget and if you are looking to get traffic fast. SEO is free but it is going to take weeks, or even months, to rank and get traffic. By using Adwords you will get traffic relatively quick. I always recommend people to pay for their traffic.

Google Adwords, plus i would supplement it with PPC (Bing Ads and Facebook Ads). And also mobile advertising via Yahoo Gemini.

I will prefer Google Adwords as its provide Seven Benefits to Grow Your Business Online:
    (1) Adwords works faster than SEO
    (2) Increase brand awareness
    (3) Reach more customers through their Gmail Inbox
    (4) Reconnect with visitors of your website
    (5) Measure your performance consistently
    (6) Explore more using your ads
    (7) Tackle your competition better

For quick work adword is the best. Seo's process is slow though seo happening by organic way. If you got times then you can use seo methods, but for quick result Adword is the best.

Some VERY bad advice in this thread.

Adwords if done effectively by a new person should NOT be pushed as a fast way to get results. Someone new to PPC or even new to promoting a particular niche in PPC should take things sloooow as it is EASY - VERY EASY to lose a lot of money. yes you can get visitors from day one with PPC but visitors are NOT automatically paying customers. You need to test and test and test to get a good ROI on PPC

On the other hand SEO is not always slow either. With very good keyword research you can start getting results from long tail within weeks and NOT have to pay for every visit you get.

This is a difficult comparison as you are comparing apples to oranges (seo to ppc).

Personally I would start with SEO and move to PPC as well once you are fully optimized for SEO.

Hard to improve on the advice Internet Trillionaire gave you "spot on" but there are ways to maximize both types of marketing. I found a really great system that helped me a ton with both. Wish I could post the link here but you have to message me if you want it. Tom
