First- Search Volume should be at least 1k to 10k.
Second- There is no idea length for keyword. Long tail keywords are also working.
Third- You should try google keyword planner regrading that and pick those keywords who have low or medium competition and have monthly searches around 1k to 10k or more..

It actually depends on how strong your website is to choose the right keyword to rank for. It would be better to start with low volume keyword but low competitive. Keywords with 300-600 search/month is ideal for our start. In terms of keyword length, keywords with more than 4 words will tend to be easier for us.
There are some tools you should use to do keyword research and filter a keyword list. Ahrefs, Keyword planner, Keyword Finder and Keywordtool.io are popular tools that SEOers use for this purpose!

I always ask myself this simple question.
What would I search if I wanted buy whatever my website is selling?
The I ask a few people I know the same question.
    These are called buying keywords.
Another is use google keyword planner and see what keywords have the highest bidding, this usually indicates its a buying keyword.
Lastly, if your using ppc advertising, Amazon now allows advertising and its a place people go to buy. Its better than Facebook or Adsense, these people are ready (pre primed) to buy.
Im sure next week someone will make a wso about making killer profits using Amazon ppc

3000 to 5000 searches per month

    - what should be the length of keyword?

Long tail keywords usually are less competitive to rank on the first page of search engine search results.

Use buyer keywords, so that your target prospect is someone who has their credit card in hand ready to buy what you have to sell online

what should be the minimum search volume of keyword?
    - You can go for 3000-5000
what should be the length of keyword?
    - I always go for long-tail keywords. At least 3 words each will do.

Make sure you go through your competitors' keywords, too.

Assuming you have done some research and have identified what the ideal customer to your website looks like then you can start to look to keyword targeting.

It is short sighted to just look at buyer keywords because there are many prospects doing research and some of these will not use buyer keywords in their searches.

The keywords will change depending on how aware the audience is of your solution.

When people search there are two components to their search. Their intention and the context of their search.

Cold, warm and hot prospects have different intentions and the contexts of their searches will also vary.

At the top of the funnel where those search terms are related to cold traffic and you are trying to make the prospect aware you might come up with a content asset based around things like tips, news, lists etc.

When the prospect moves through the funnel and becomes warmer you should create something to help meet that stage of intent. An example would be "Guide to choosing the right XXXXX"

When it comes to the hotter end of the funnel where the prospect is likely to make a purchase we might have several content pieces like product detail pages or an online quoting system and some comparison components where people can compare products and competitors.

It is at the hot stage people respond to the buyer keywords.

At each stage of your development you should consider the pathway for the prospect to take.

If you are producing cold content you can move them towards warmer material and so on.

With over 70% of search being for long tail keywords it makes sense to target those lower volume searches.

This is a graph from moz.com illustrating the search demand.

Also according to Google, 16% of all searches, have never been entered into Google before.

That means 1 in 6 of all search terms have never been entered before, now that's a whole gold mine of opportunity for you to add content to meet those 1 in 6 searches.

It pays to understand what it is you are trying to sell and the motivations and pathways the prospects take to get to your solution.

Understand that and you can build content to meet stages of that journey.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

Depends on your goals and your niche. There is no parameters that fit every site out there.

Maybe a keyword has a super low search volume, but the traffic converts at a high rate. Maybe the keyword is 6 words long and it's your best traffic/converting keyword.

    There is no one-size-fits-all here.

If you're on a low budget, you can use the google keyword planner to get some ideas and write articles using those mentioned keywords. Just make sure you write some high quality content, 2k+ words and promote the article a lot!

Personally, with a relatively new website, I would start targeting keywords that have between 10 - 100 inside Google keyword tool with "Low" competition.

I will check those keywords in quotes inside Google search tool to see how many competing pages they have. I'll keep the ones under 100.

If it's for regular articles, I would go with those numbers. For product reviews I will look at the SERPs and make that there are not more than 3 pages that have over 30 Page Authority.

If the average number of Page Authority for the search results is under 20, than I'll go for it.

As my site grow and gain authority, I will target keywords with more searches, trying to aim at low competition ones still

Keyword research is one of the most important parts of SEO. There is no hard and fast rule for volume and length. In my experience, I take 1K-100K search volume and for length, there are no defined parameters for the keyword length but it should be noticed that keyword cannot be so long as it becomes more problematic to rank on those long tail keyword. Talking about the ranking of the keyword, always prefer the keywords with more search and less competition. Also, I would suggest having a complete analysis of your competitors before doing keyword research.

Here are the filtering steps you need to take:
    1. SELECT THE MATCH-TYPE, COUNTRY, AND LANGUAGE
    2. PROCEED WITH IN-DEPTH FILTERING
    3. ADD KEYWORDS AUTOMATICALLY TO YOUR RANKING PROJECT IN AWR DESKTOP

Also, you can use online keyword research tools like Google keyword planner. It will help you to identify the relevant keyword of your website.

As you may already know, keyword research is perhaps the most important part of content marketing. Here are some tips for you to follow:

    1. Go for 'low hanging fruit keywords'. This usually involves around 50-100 visitors per month. It doesn't seem like much, but I will explain this further later on.

    2. There is no specific length you should be going for. It just needs to be a keyword that is not too competitive.

    3. In order to figure out if a keyword is too competitive, I highly suggest that you invest in a keyword tool. One good example is KWFinder. It will show you whether a keyword is too competitive for a beginner website.

The keywords that rank fast are the 'low hanging fruit' keywords mentioned above. Another plus side to this is that you do not need to do any offline marketing, such as collecting backlinks.

The only downside is that you will need to write hundreds of posts. Personally, I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking and write 5,000 words per day. It has really taken my Amazon niche site to the next level.

One last thing... If you go for keywords that are even just moderately higher competition, even if you manage to rank for them, you will quickly by overthrown by the competition. That is why I preach 'low hanging fruit'. It is just a better, more long-term solution to getting rankings. Google algo changes usually don't affect them either.

    Good luck!

While in many cases it can be beneficial to the point of getting potential visitors to click on your link in a search, having keywords within the domain has far less weight on the optimal indexing of your site in the SE's based on those keywords. Be careful to not let this interfere with your decision too much. Another thing to think about is what is the marketing plan in regards to what percentage of traffic do you plan on visiting your site via SEO. Do not waste potentially great URL ideas if it is really not going to be a huge part of your marketing plan.

Use a seek engine to look for those keywords to find your online competition. Visit your competitors' web sites and be aware of the key phrases you notice of their page titles and textual content headings.
Use Compete.Com to research what keyword searches send the most visitors in your competitors' websites. Use their Site Profile tool analyze a competitive internet site and look under the Search Analytics heading to peer the top five keywords with the aid of extent.
If you've got a Web web site with internet analytics software, search for the list of keywords that have driven visitors from the search engines on your internet site within the beyond. Even better, if your net analytics software tracks conversions (ie: income, lead form submissions, inquiries, and so forth), look for the listing of key phrases which have sent site visitors who converted.
