One day I was sick and laying in bed so I started watching Youtube videos on making money on the internet. I have always been interested in having my own business. So I got hooked on getting rich on Amazon FBA then discovered Shopify drop shipping and those led to CPA , funnels and affiliate marketing. Of course I was excited.

Then I thought wtf? The more I watched I realized some of these experts were just parroting each other and quite a few weren't even doing the business they were trying to sell you a course on. .. and my inbox is full of them now.

Drop shipping seemed cool and easy so I made a Shopify store. That's been fun as I learned quite bit and made a few sales (from a USA supplier). Then I joined Shopify Newbies on Facebook and that was an awakening as to ever scaling that site. As you know there are many horrible sites and people losing money. There are a lot of sites just thrown up and advertised to the point that quite a few people there are too worried someone is going to duplicate their site and I think there is truth to that from the comments I've read. Those revelations and other reading leads me to believe the ease of entry into drop shipping has created a lot of interference for rising above the noise of the others doing the same thing. It appears the... not sure how to phase it .. cost/benefit/time ... for drop shipping is not now a first path for a noob? I think it could be done but it'll take a lot more skills and I'm not sure how long that'll take to get above all the "I'm in it because it looks easy and cheap to make money" drop shippers (like I was, ha ) Even just advertising one "killer product" from all my "research" I feel like quickly there would be a hoard of others just like me.

I "think" the Amazon FBA might be doable. The barrier of entry with skills/money/time is a little higher then Shopify/Alliexpress. With that I feel retail arbitrage appears to have an "ok" risk or buying from Alibaba and letting Amazon FBA handle a few products has a decent chance of success if I'm careful. I could make a little income while learning?

Then there's affiliate, CPA and the whole Clickfunnels. I don't have special knowledge or a product to funnel but, I do see some people appear to be making a lot of money using page funnels for affiliate and CPA. I don't quite understand that yet and I don't know how high the skill level is for that.

I'm excited about learning but my thoughts are being fractured into different directions and each path has some overlapping skills I can benefit from, but I can't do all.

So, I rambled there. Any thoughts on Drop Shipping bloody water, Amazon still ok?, skill level for Affiliate Funnels (don't do it or it's easy just try a funnel) will be helpful. OR, something else?

It would be nice to make a little money while learning if possible but getting through all the BS from the experts and people selling me success is really spinning me in circles.

I want to head in a direction and I'm ok with switching to another path one day as I learn. I do have time and patience. So, any thoughts are welcome.

Thank you,
Sean

Sounds like you are moving in circles. It doesn't matter what other people do with a Shopify site - only what you do with yours.

Don't chase money - you won't catch it. Instead find out what people want or need...and provide it to them. Choose a niche that makes sense - is popular - and that doesn't bore you.

There are some who will tell you 'do this' and 'do that' and blah blah blah. You only need to do one thing well to make money online - the trick is figuring out what it is.

DON'T confuse products and services you purchase or subscribe to with 'methods of making money online.'

READ THIS FORUM - identify the knowledgeable people using the method you want to use....and read their threads and posts...

Focus - make a plan. Once you know what SORT of business you want to do online, consider posting a short term goal on "Warrior Path" to keep yourself accountable.

When you ask questions - FOCUS and ask specific, detailed questions so people can answer helpfully.

    Good luck...go get 'em.

Kay's advice above makes total sense. You did need to determine your business model and focus on that. Using this forum as a research tool (search function) will be helpful but do not get pulled in too many directions or fall prey to the shiny object syndrome.

Personally setting up my FBA business was the best move I ever made while working online. FBA is not as overwhelming or complicated as some people may make you believe. If you go that route just set up your account and go slowly at first.

    It's SIMPLE

    Do the thing that:

is behind every successful marketer: yes, also the people who's trying to sell u course.

is not relying on third party website as the sole income.

and...you have in front of your eyes!

What's this? You said that your inbox is full of them.

    Exactly. It's EMAIL MARKETING.

Build your list and then you can use it for affiliate, cpa, etc. what you want around the niche you choose and give value with.

YouTube videos are not going to give you an in depth understanding of what you want to know.

Do a course on your Amazon FBA, then test the methods your are learning in your course. That way you will earn while you learn.

Watching free YouTube videos isn't going to be all you need to start a successful online business, and very rarely does YouTube videos show you how to make money on the internet.

It depends a lot on how much risk you'd want to put into this..and your budget as well. There are no so many areas to choose from, you can make an analysis of each big area (e-commerce, aff marketing and product creation) and see which one suits you and your budget and then make a plan with the steps you need to take and how much you need to spend and in the end make your final decision. You can learn on youtube a lot but look for videos posted in the last 2 years (not from 4-5 years) and with the highest ratio between likes and dislikes. I hope it helps
