BEGINNERS AREA

Hi guys, my name is Max.

I want to generate a passive income, but I don't know where to start.

I started learning web design and programming a year ago. Basically I learned everything searching it online. I'm good with HTML, CSS is getting there.. not quite an advanced level but I'm getting it really fast. JavaScript I have no idea, my knowledge on that topic is very basic.

A few years ago I used to promote some business in Facebook and Twitter, it was a comission base job. My objective was to make people attend to the business events. I'm not a master in advertising but I got some success out of it. (Need to learn a lot more about ads though).

I have a daily job from 9AM to 18PM and I go to college 3 days a week. I live alone and have bills to pay. So basically my budget is really on the low.

At the end of the month I'm -1000$. Take notice, I live in a thrid world country so things are really expensive and bad quality.

To sum up, I need another income ASAP. But I don't know what can I do. I'm not a web programmer yet, nor an Internet Marketer.

I would like to find a mentor, I know its hard to find someone to spend their time teaching to someone else, but in return I can work for free in anything area you need a hand on. Like I said I know little bit of advertising and a "intermediate" level of CSS.

Thanks for any tip you can share for me.

Hi Max,

Have you tried to ask for a small increase in your pay at the job you currently do?

I know that is not probably the answer you are looking for but if you can show your employer the value you bring to their business it can be one of the easiest ways to improve your immediate situation.

Can you show your employer any of those skills you have learned or are studying for and offer to help them with any needs they require that you are able to help with?

You should try to reduce your expenses and get in a better financial position so you have money to then look at building something online as it is not easy anywhere to create an income without having some capital to invest.

Hi Max,

The first investment is to reduce any debts or use any added cash you have to get some early payment discounts on any bills you might have coming up.

If you have regular bills you can look at calling those providers and ask them for a discount for two reasons. First you want to pay them promptly and secondly you want to remain loyal.

You can also shop around for better rates on any of your regular expenses.

It does depend on where you are and what options are available but most markets have a number of different suppliers for particular services like telephone, electricity etc. See if you can get a better rate for anything you are currently paying for.

When you have little cash it is best to try to save money in simple ways like dumping all your small change into a jar everyday and by looking at simple ways to divert some of any money you make into savings. Quarantine those savings into a separate bank account if you can. One that is easy to deposit into but difficult to withdraw from. Build a small nest egg first.

Invest your time into education which you are already doing and don't be frightened to use the skills you already have to help people who don't have the skills. You don't need to know everything about a subject to start helping people. You only need to be a few steps ahead and continue to grow as you find out more.

If you can do some simple things for people who can't do those things themselves then you can apply a value to what those things are and then offer to do those things for a fee.

For example something simple like getting a website to run faster by using a CDN can be a simple fix for many businesses but they don't know what to do to achieve it.

There are many examples of simple things that can help a business with their operations.

Maybe use your HTML abilities to make email templates for businesses so they can look more professional and save time because you have made a group of responses they can easily edit rather than write from scratch.

Maybe make landing pages for businesses to augment their adwords efforts.

There are some other ideas but I'll share them later.

If you know how to promote stuff on Facebook and twitter then you don't need any mentor..You can get an affiliate account in any big network like CB, Jv zoo,etc. and start a free blog and a facebook page where you can review products, promote your content on youtube and twitter and you'll get results after a while..

The passive income with no money to invest takes time..it can not be made overnight..
The quickest option would be to work on Fiver, Upwork, etc and for getting reviews you can work at first for a very small price just to get some positive reviews and then increase slowly the prices accordingly.

I take it you're a person who hates working. But this can be the best free marketing model that works for you. Just look at it as a donation bank. You go to the job, put your time, and then at the end of the week, get your money. Then take the money, pay your pills, then invest in your business. You're success will not come overnight. So be prepared to "build" your business for the next 2-3 years... depending on the niche you're in, and the amount of money you have to invest into paid advertising.

  I know that success doesn't happens overnight. When I was promoting business it took me several month to have a little bit of money in my bank, but damn I was happy.

Hi Max,

The best thing you can do right now: get a job to make money.

If you need money you will do things online from a desperate, frantic space. You fear debt. So your fear will dominate your work and you will do silly things that guarantee your failure for 5 or 10 years or longer, until you stop doing things from fear and start doing things from a detached space.

I appreciate your hustle but we Warriors have seen this story thousands of times. So much better bro for you to make money through a job, then you can do things from a smart, more detached, fun-loving, patient space.

You do not want to be $5000 in debt 2 years down the road with $5 in your pocket and endless frustrations online. The internet is no ATM; it's a fickle biatch in many ways, weeding out the desperate and greedy, leaving the patient, detached and generous.

I started with HTML and JavaScript. I got a job in IT and added on ASP (now C#) and SQL.

I got a lucrative 20 year career out of that tech stack.

All the extra money I made online went into my retirement fund.

I would recommend one thing to you, and I'd have loved to receive that advice many years ago.

Buy the book: The Laptop Millionaire

This was eye opening for me.

The guy was £7,000 in debt and managed to grow a multi million dollars business in a matter of years.
He shares his story and the tactics he used to do it.

I've studied many web marketing courses online, some I paid thousands of dollars for.

But this book is less than $20 and it gives much more value than all these courses COMBINED.

I can't recommend it highly enough.

definitely you got some skills that could generate some good payout to you on many freelancer platform,. Just try to join some of them, and try to work with them, and earn something, i saw some dudes listed you some of the good ones up here, so it will be the better way to get in. Good luck dude.

Hi Max, Great story.

I've been in very financially straining situations so I can relate.

Most of my life I did sales because I figured I could make the most money that way. After years of picking up phones and knocking door to door to make sales, I was drained and had little to show for it.

It wasn't until I really discovered the power of the internet that I knew I never wanted to have to deal with customers again. So my advise... Try making money online. The internet is the modern day gold rush. You can start an online business with literally no products of your own, no employees, and close to 0 dollars. I recommend Email Marketing.

Let this time in your life motivate you to push harder than you've ever have before. If you're capable of learning how to code, I'm sure you can find a way to bring in 1,000 extra dollars using the internet.

In the mean time while your learn, start looking for some freelance websites that people will pay for your work.

Good luck, Max. No goal that you set out to achieve is unachievable.
