Well it depends on your angle and what you wish to accomplish.. When you say drive traffic to your own niche website, you should have a landing page that saves the information of the person that has just landed there, thus owning them until you break their heart and they unsubscribe, without it, your marketing efforts or futile as you will be constantly trying market to new people again and again. With a landing page you can build up enough of a follwing, that you might never have to advertise ever again, so a landing page is absolutely the way to go.

Having a landing a page is very valuable, but the question is would you prefer to make it yourself or pay for it through click funnels.

I recommend you start building your email list. This allows you to send valuable information to your contacts over time ( and product recommendations). If you send someone directly to a niche site, you will lose that visitor after one visit.

You could have a website with an opt in and collect emails from there, however there will be many deciding factors such as how you plan to monetize, is with affiliate marketing or your own product ?, how do you plan to drive traffic, free or paid ?, is this a long term project or short term.

If you can provide more info you will get more tailored advice.

      Hi Dave,
Well my plan is to do affiliate marketing. My initial thought is to create a review website and drive traffic to it, paid & free. The website will have only a home page and i will not promote more than 4-5 products. Then through the site i will collect emails for future promotions. I will also add banners through Adsense or some other network and try to generate some income from there. Then my plan is translate the website to multiple languages and target specific countries.

I would recommend on making sure you get the traffic to your website (blog) - this way you get to rank high in Google and add a landinpage on the specific blog articles where you want the useres to click and sign up

    Hi CaptainCool,

I favor the website for long term growth.

If you want to build a business short term, use a landing page. Visitors take a look, move forward, or leave immediately. Quick process but it does not establish anything long term, like regular repeat traffic.

Running a self-hosted Wordpress blog positions you to establish long term bonds and exponentially increasing income because you keep adding to your content store.

If I drove traffic to a landing page, it is *1* landing page.

But since I drive traffic to my blog, versus 1 landing page, the web has 400-500 posts and pages from my blog floating around out there. Each page or post links to my courses, coaching page, 126 eBooks, audio books and all other posts. See how this abundant approach helps you build ever-increasing traffic and profits for the long haul?

I'm not really understanding what you mean by landing page? Do you mean the merchants page?

You should typically always try building your own landing page

  • Why not make your Blog post (your site) your landing page?
You can easily set up an offer opt-in on that page to lead to your offer..

This way you are capturing their E-mail (most important) and driving traffic to your own site!

  • I would recommend you "to create your own niche website and drive traffic to it." So you will have complete ownership here.

You definitely need to build a Landing page, and try to build it so that you could build an email list. One of the thing you can do for your landing page to have the desired effect, you should make sure you post over there only valuable posts, that could attract and keep your visitors. After building your lander, you should test it before you lunch it.
