Never used WIX, but WP any day of the week and only gotten better while you were away. Get yourself a good theme that is SEO friendly and has demo content for your blogging niche to quickly get you started.

With Wix to get ads removed is $14.50 per month and if you want email you have to use G suite for an additional $5 per month. That includes limited bandwidth.

My suggestion of a WP alternative: Get your domain and hosting then join Optimizepress club. $17 per month for (top of the line) everything you need including support and a members-only FB group where you can quickly get help from other members.

It's so easy to use I think a smart chimp could do it!

It's a site that dedicated to one of my favorite tv shows. A show I have always felt was underrated. Just wanted to blog about and make some best of videos to post on Youtube.

I haven't used WIX. The two main issues that would put me off are:

1) You don't control the hosting. As far as I'm aware, your site has to be hosted on the WIX servers.

2) You can't export your site's HTML. That would make it a problem should you ever want to transfer away from WIX or if you planned to eventually sell the site.

If those factors aren't important to you, go for the simplest route.

1.Dynamic theme.
2.Easy to customize.
3.Available.
4.A lot of developer.

I tried WIX a long time ago, it wasn't for me.

I've been using Wordpress for years, more than happy with it, plus there are tons of tutorials online for Wordpress, WP plug-ins etc

Wordpress offers more options in terms of SEO, website functionality, and control. WIX simplfies everything but at what cost? Try looking for the negatives of owning a WIX site and compare them with the negatives of owning a WP site. I'm willing to bet WP would win.

I used WIX just for a very small amount of time.

What I discovered is ( could be different today several years pass by)
is that you can't really promote it well (organic promotion)as in Wordpress you can and promote without a problem.(of course you need to work on organic promotion hard but it's easier in WordPress from what I know. (like I said it's been a few years since I touched WIX)

#1 - Kay beat me to it, but: roll tide.

#2 - Minkah Fitzpatrick grew up right by the town where I live in New Jersey. When I am not circling the globe.

#3 - Go with Wordpress Dot Org buddy. Yep, definitely more work on the front end compared to Wix but the ceiling/upside on the back end goes through the roof. WP Dot Org has a strong worldwide community of fans being ample support should stuff go South, and the branding potential and monetizing potential are as good as it gets site-wise because of the range of premium themes available.

Wix is easier to set up but in many ways, amateur-hour, as you've seen by those blah themes. Tough to be taken seriously on this or other 2nd rate platforms. If you want to do it right, WP Dot Org for sure.

Note; I am tech allergic, sneezing at words like HTML and backend. But hiring a developer helps, and also, really, doing a wee bit of exploring myself gave me confidence and clarity in WP Dot Org as far as lightweight coding, themes. Plus YouTube is filled with helpful videos if you get stuck; the worldwide community I mentioned.

I recently worked on some Wix sites from an SEO perspective and it wasn't ideal. Actually for SEO it was a PITA. I'm not a huge WP fan either, but between the two, I'd go WP.

Wordpress will give you more room in terms of customization. There are tons of plugins you can use. Wix is somewhat drag and drop and they mainly use heavy flash scripts. Go with WP, it's easier to use.

Wix, Squarespace etc.. are great to get things up and running quickly.. but what you gain in convenience you lose out it everything else.

Wordpress will allow you to basically do what ever you can think of to be honest.. more of a learning curve.. but so worth it.

Plus its supported by a massive dev community.. and you can extend the CMS to build some amazing sites and apps.

100% go for WP.. nothing else..

When I started online back on 06, i learned Joomla.. but when I made the switch in 08 to WP.. I wish I had done it earlier..

I would rather pick wordpress over wix. There are many plugins, many themes that are available for wordpress sites. You may even develop your own plugins and themes for that platform. I don't know if this is possible on wix. Just from a control/independence perspective it seems to me that Wordpress is the best.

Wix doesn't let you look under the hood, so a lot of things are hard or impossible if you want to change too far from the template. Plus, it works against you with onpage SEO. But, if you don't want to change code too much (they do let you ad some code to pages but not the core) and you like the look and don't care that much about SEO, WIX is just as good as WordPress. Never tried to export a Wix site but I imagine it would be hard (based on interaction with them).

Oh, there is no number to call for support, just messages and knowledge articles.

Overall, I did not like it.

WIX is only useful as a Secont Tier website 2.0 for backlinks to the Tier 1 which is the money site.

Do you think it's serious to build a company website with pre-made website for newbie?

Wordpress is the gold standard for most of the websites: there is a reason. Use it and don't get mess with WIX, even if it seems more easy to use.

I thing you should stick with WP as it is one of the most flexible content management system and as you have enough knowledge on it, you shouldn't take help from wix as wix is not much good option than WP.

Wix vs WordPress is not an easy decision, especially if you are starting off with building websites.

The last thing you want to do is commit a lot of time and energy to building a website, then finding out that you have to re-build it again because you picked the wrong website builder.

Both Wix and WordPress are good website builders, and the differences between Wix and WordPress is fairly significant.

Wix vs WordPress. Wix plans cover hosting, themes and free extensions. But the price can go up if you need to install a paid application from the Wix app market. WordPress is free, and the cost will depend on how many plugins you need, your hosting provider, whether you need a premium theme and more.

From my limited perspective Wix is a template based platform where worpress is an open-source platform. With Wix you can have a good looking website up in minutes but it will be limited to the template structure. Wordpress you can create anything. If your not very good with it stick to a simple theme like "twenty-seventeen" this way you can easily edit your pages from the dash. Good luck and don't give up.

Definitely go for Wordpress. Get your own domain, a cheap hosting and start like that.
If you want to save money go to ThemeForest and buy a nice template (you'll have it for around 50$).

Of course, there's a bit of a learning curve, but it will pay off over time.
