Amazon Affiliate Newbie Advice

Hey everyone,

Im new to the forum, im currently building my first ever amazon affiliate site with wordpress. Im using the customizr theme, having a few problems getting it how i want it.

Can anyone suggest any plugins and themes that you think could really help me as a newbie to the game.

Also, are people still doing this? What advice would you give to someone starting out, something productive, maybe some things you wish you knew back when you first started. (ive heard alot that patience is key and that's fine as i do another job in the meantime)

Thanks very much everyone, looking forward to some golden nuggets

Can't help you with the theme, but the rest I have thoughts on.

Yes, others are still doing this.

My advice, get the content right first. Don't skimp just to get something on the page. Really give your visitors something of value.

When you build a foundation based around content for any type of website, the rest of the process will become easier (not easy, but easier).

Thank you Benjamin. What is the recommended word length for content of a new website?

It really depends and this is one that everybody has an opinion on. I would focus less on word count and more on covering the topic in-depth and better than anybody else. If that means 1,000 words, great. If it means 5,000 words, do it.

Likely, you'll end up somewhere between 800 and about 2,500 words.

About 2000... give or take. Long posts do better. Though a good short post will also get ranked. Probably the focus should be more on how quickly can the question be answered. The question being; the problem your post is solving. Hope that helps.

The length of your posts will depend on the niche you are working on.

For the keyword you are trying to rank, analyse your competition on the first page of google and create bigger and better content.

PS: assuming your on/off-page SEO is also aligned with your competition.

Hi there. My advice is to do your market research before getting started. Also, to have a very detailed persona of exactly who your target market is and constantly think about how your going to be making their lives easier. After all that, simply give them what they want.

You can also use the free weebly website building service to build your Amazon affiliate store. Weebly also has a blogging feature that you can use for SEO purposes alongside your Amazon affiliate store

  • I advice people to:
    1. Write at least 90K words worth of useful content (Mix of reviews and information) optimized for SEO (onpage SEO) and humans.

    2. Wait at least 6-12 months and now you should be getting consistant traffic and sales of course.

I wish you good luck and much success!

I typically just pick a theme that looks good then insert the ads into it

You can use any themes but it must

    1. Responsive
    2. Fast Load (you can check it on pingdom.com or gtmetrix)
    3. Rich Snippet for review
    4. Clean Design

I recommend Rehub theme for starter because it's quite easy to setup

Also, are people still doing this?

There are many people who can do full-time for amazon affiliate like me.

The easy and effective way is copy your top players in your niche. This is the key.

Here is some sample to copy from your top compettions

    1. How long for their content? (You should the same or do it better)
    2. How they get backlink? (You should copy only quality backlink)
    3. Which page generated the most profit? (You can check from spy tools)
    4. Have they got traffic from social media? (You can do the same method)

You should start from spy your competitors then do the same or apply better. This is the secret weapon for start new business.

Focus 100% on helping people and building friendships with top folks in your niche and the affiliate sales take care of themselves. Getting of sales happens after giving of value, service and of course, by doing it generously.
