I set up my ads on Google Adwords and ran them for 1 week. Got tons of traffic but NO conversions ($$$). I have ads set up on another platform and have seen great results (which is how I know my business has the potential to do well on advertising platforms). What should I do at this point? I hate wasting money but I also don't know how to bring paying customers to my online store.

FYI: I own a Career Services company.

  • I'm assuming you double checked you targeted audience and everything was correct?

It could be random. It could be a week in the year were nobody is buying in that niche. It's hard to say. Maybe the ad looked different.

You can't really know unless you run it again or change up the copy.

I can't really tell without being able to see the ad. Consider a different marketing approach too, influencer marketing is something worth looking into.

  • If you are already making sales on another advertising platform, then just increase your advertising spend on that platform. That way you can increase your flow of traffic that you know already converts to your website.

Hey, congrats! You got tons of clicks, so that means the ad was working

Look through the keywords that sent you the most traffic - search those up on Google and click through on the other ads. Screenshot the landing pages and then compare those to the page your sending the traffic too.

What are the others doing on their landing pages that you are not?

You can use something like SpyFu to see some other ad examples and other advertisers who are competing with you - along with how long they have been running ads.

Obviously you don't want to plagarize other peoples work or anything - but this kind of research should help uncover what you need to do to get more conversions.

By the way, this is a pretty common thing to have happen! You just have to systematically work through your funnel, find what is broken, fix it, then move on to the next broken thing and fix it, etc.

    Eventually, it all works

P.S. Most people stop when they get no results. Take a 'what worked, and what didn't' approach and fix what's broken.

What's your bounce rate ? It could affect the conversions badly.

Ad services, like AdWords, for example, do not guarantee you any conversion. They only bring potential clients to your website. If the clients buy nothing or very little, it's purely your fault, it means something's wrong on the website: wrong prices, a wrong offer, improper customer service, usability issues, etc.

what i can suggest you will only be to look for other offers to run, and try to make it over there. The real truth is that this business is really large, and has a lot of fields for all of us to be able to catch something and make it through! You better try to run something else dude.

If you really want to succeed with your ads. Don't ever try and experimenting and trying it out yourself.

Find and expert who knows his onions when it comes to google ads or any advertising platform.

Buy his/her advertising coursesAnd model whatever you learnt in the advertising course.

I know it might be expensive but it'll definitely worth it than trying to figure it by yourself and fail.

Just follow this tip & I guarantee ,you'll succeed.

Check the keywords that are getting you clicks. Are they "buying words" or "information words". I'll explain what I mean. One of my clients has an organic spray that they spray on your property to kill ticks in your yard. Before they hired me they were using words like "Deer Ticks" "Lyme Disease" and "Tick Bites" those words get thousands of clicks but NONE of them are "buying" words. We switched to terms like "killing ticks in my yard" and saw conversions go way up.

Not every source of traffic are suitable for every type of business.

So if you have a good source of traffic, use that and try fb ads instead of adwords.

You do not need to use EVERY type of traffic but THE RIGHT ONES for you.

For adwords: try display ads if the search is not good, if you wanna still try adwords.

You're targeting the wrong places, Google and Facebook.

You need to go where the traffic is for jobs, like Indeed, Glassdoor, Linkedin, Careerbuilder, even Craigslist. They all have millions of resumes. Sort resume updates by date (freshness).

Google and Facebook make people lazy and lazy cost unnecessary money. You have to get off your butt and do some real work, all these job boards have millions of laser targeted job traffic. Do the the resume research. More leads than you could use in a lifetime and updated daily.

        Do it.

  • I can, but I do not want to solely rely on one platform. I would like to try other platforms because if one stops working, I do not want to be left with no $$$.

Pro tip would be to stay off of broad match entirely. That will easily get you no conversions by itself. Stick with exact and phrase match.

    TRAFFIC =/= CONVERSION.

These two things are not the same thing.

    You got some traffic...good, that's a starter.

    Is it any good?

How well does your conversion tool work?

That's what you have to figure out now.

  • Have you tried split testing your website/landing page? I found that experimenting with different ads and different landing pages eventually works!

Argh! Normally I'm the guy who catches this kind of thing. Didn't look at the first post's date this time.

Well, I see this kind of complaint ("I ran one campaign for clicks and didn't make a single sale!") all the time, so to the general audience the responses should be useful.

        lol Ok, Jason. Nice, save,

We both know the questioned will be posed, again - in a new thread, within days. If I see one more, "How do I get traffic" thread started, I'm going to fix myself a Drano cocktail.

No one searches for anything. People think we are here to serve them without them doing the most basic search. Personally, I can't participate in that.

I don't think you're that much younger than me. :-)

Keyword selection matters the most. Adword Express brings targeted traffic if you pick the right keywords.

Okay, You need to understand there is a difference between GOOGLE PPC and Facebook Ads, means that all social, non-social platforms are different to each other means that people mindset are also different!

The Fact that you get results on one platform but not another is you're not modding your point according to, in your case google ads!

So All you need to do is to find a difference between where you succeeding and google ads and then just modify the points and success would come!
