Hey there,

I'm trying to run 2 things, dropshipping & CPA offers. I'm starting to realize that I'm getting too impatient too quickly... I think. I've created about 5 different stores (4 failed and 1 might be ok?) and finally just started getting sales, but am spending more on ads than getting a return. I'm afraid my CPA offers will do the same. (I ran click to call ads in the past. Same issue.) Just as I decided that I was defeated by FB I got a sale. Funny thing is... the sale came from an organic source on Yahoo. It's not even listed as an assisted conversion.

Is this what Charles Ngo meant when he said something like you're not going to be a millionaire overnight? That you'll have to invest more before gaining? Did he actually mean that the pixels will need some time to learn your audience before you start making some return? Idk. I'm so confused. Am I pulling the plug too early?

I'd love to hear your stories on how you overcame your struggles because I feel like a complete failure right now.

All these is a normal thing to go through when you starting out, Though i would advise you get materials on fb ads so as to increase your knowledge and as for the CPA, since you're starting out, why not go for Emails/Zip Submit offers......then you later move to your desired offers

Thank you for replying to my post aimanjargo. I've started running a few campaigns on FB and found the free + shipping doesn't seem to keep customers coming back... :S Just curious... but what would Emails/Zip offers be? Is that like a form submit offer? I haven't heard of it yet.

First off your not a failure! You are frustrated more than anything else. Trying to do 2 different things at once is part of your problem. Either chose drop shipping or cpa offers till you master one. It may take awhile to master it. Most people that get good results with Internet Marketing take a long time to learn the actual process.

You are not the only person that has tried to run more than one thing at a time. Some people start off with big dreams and purchase several domains. The reality is they use give up or just focus on 1. A good thread in the main forum is a guy that wants to quit after 6 months. A lot of good advice is posted in the thread. Take a good look at it and realize things do not happen over night - https://www.warriorforum.com/main-in...time-quit.html

Decide what way you want to go work on it the direction. If you have any specific questions come back and asked a detailed question. The more detailed it is the easier it will be for others to help you. Hope that helps!

Thank you DWolfe for sharing. I do feel like the time I've spent trying these offers have helped me understand that I need to change my strategy. Ultimately I want to focus on CPA offers, but I bought a course for dropshipping at the end of last year. I probably should put dropshipping on hold and focus on CPA for now. Thanks so mcuh!

There's a difference between failing at something and being a failure. You may be failing at what you're doing but that doesn't define you as a person. Not yet, anyway.

I would stop listening to any kind of gurus like Charles Ngo because they make money by "teaching" other people how to make money....if he could do it then he wouldn't be teaching. Those that can't, teach. It's true. Conveniently they spew stuff like "invest more before gaining" which happens to be in their best interest.

My opinion is that you appear to be spreading yourself too thin and suffering from shiny object syndrome. You started 4 stores when you only need to focus on 1. AND you're trying to run CPA offers? Too much, assuming you're solo and don't have a whole team together.

FOCUS has been the single best thing for me in my experience. So I'd advise you that if you're serious about this, then you should only be attempting 1 business operation. If that's 1 website/store then so be it. Make sure it's well-conceived, but don't go chasing shiny objects. So I wouldn't quit per se, but I'd cut everything except 1 promising venture. That's my advice to you.

I personally feel, so many people fail in internet marketing because of being impatient. People have created an awkward kind of hype about this business. Everybody is talking about 6 figures, 8 figures, millions in the beginning itself. Come on, it is like any normal business. Make a realistic target for a month, for 6 months and so on. Calculate your ROI before you start paying for paid traffic. Initially, It is best to put more efforts and get organic traffic till you gain enough experience to make your strategy for paid traffic. I have not read all this anywhere but I am sharing my experience... And don't give up.. All the best

Thank you salsym. It's true. There is a ton of hype and so many of them use the "be a millionaire after taking a course". I was absolutely sold into it. But I'm starting to find that I might be better off just investing in actually testing strategies. I think that's an internal fear of mine.... spending $ on tests and just hoping to catch something in the waters.

I wouldn't give up if I were you, with these sites, try a different approach, give it time or try another avenue or product. Maybe all these businesses lie dormant for months or years, and then just pop open like those cactus in the southwest that bloom after years after growing a 10 foot stalk.

Frustration is a part of the process. Anybody worth their salt who has successful businesses online did not make it without going through what you are now. It's this part of the process most people don't tell you about when they're selling you their courses.

Most of them just show you the money, but they don't tell you it's going to take many sleepless nights and many times feeling like a failure.

Push through and keep going. I'm not a millionaire yet, but I've been able to make consistent money online just from sticking to the process.

Stick with it and you'll begin making money eventually. Take what's working and find out what's not. Keep testing and you're sure to find a winner soon.

Even better is that you're already making sales you just need to optimize now for profit.

Work faster get more done in less time and keep doing more each day.

    Hey tortorfires

Do NOT WORRY! Just like any business, internet marketing takes time to give a return on invetsment.

The good part is that you are already generating a few sales. Drop shipping can be tricky. As you've mentioned you are already using investment traffic using Facebook. You know instagram and snapchat are emerging huge for traffic. Wanna give them a try?

Also, how about some free traffic? Have you considered writing a blog? You could write blogs around the niche which you might have selected for your drop shipping business. How about linking the blog back to your website?

How about other free sources, guest blogging for instances?

How about YouTube. Why not create a small YouTube video and share it across your own FB, Insta and Snapchat network first.

Ask your friends to like and share the video. Link the video back to your drop shipping page. This way you will drive hgih quality traffic (because they know you) for FREEEE..

How about asking your friends to buy and ask for a product review (video).. Post the video on your website and blog.. SOCIAL PROOF.. ehhhh..

See, with a drop shipping business you need solid advertising. You are no different than any other e-commerce store.

Guess how much Amazon spends on advertising annually??

Getting to know me a wee more through Google or blog gives you my story.

Take a deep breath. Feel the frustration. It sucks. I know. But feel ,release then you see how making money online is a skill that takes years of practice to get really good at. It is a skill; skills take years to develop, to where money flows in. You'll get there.

You have GOT to get your mindset fixed before we go any further. Right now you're so easily knocked about the wind could push you over. Decide, and get moving in a direction.

How long did you stick with an idea before hopping to the next one?

Yes there is some algorithm learning time but there's more to it than that.

When you come up with an idea in the future, you should now be able to figure out how much you can afford to spend on ads BEFORE you start. Until now you've been running traffic with an "I'll see how this turns out" mentality: that leads to trouble because you don't know when to turn it off. It's easy to throw good money after bad in the hopes that things will suddenly fix themselves. Stop doing that.

There are two factors to making money, and only these two.

    Traffic

    and

    Conversion.

At the moment no one has any idea whether the "biggest bang for your buck" problem to fix is in either traffic or conversion territory. (It's probably traffic, but we don't know.) I have seen hundreds of ecommerce stores from doing assessments for clients, and most are awful.

I need to make sure there's a pause here for that to sink in. People are sending expensive traffic to the home page of their store...or to a specific item page...in the hopes that this will result in a conversion. It will not.

Most of the sites had no theme. They were jumbled messes of things the creator thought were cool. But the prospective customer doesn't care about what you think is cool! The product descriptions were terrible, and in one memorable case were formatted so small as to be in illegible single gray "dot-dot-dash" line.

Pick ONE of these projects and resolve to stick with it until you've figured it out.

Change ONE thing for testing, and leave the traffic or the site alone for awhile so you can collect real data. How many times have you made a change, then lunged in and made another change before you find out what the effect of the first one was? That's ruining your learning pace because you never find out what actually worked or didn't work.

Well-run ecommerce stores have a theme. Their products are centered around a high ticket anchor product. Traffic is sent to landing pages with a highly enticing free+shipping offer for a low ticket item that's "in the zone", like tongs for a barbecue. This gets the buyer on your list. Immediately, on the same order, you offer them a profitable upsell.

Now that they're on your list, you can continue to market to them with stories about how awesome the related items are. Describe how they were used to solve problems, make people happy, and so on SO THEY WILL RETURN TO THE STORE. Think in terms of value ladders, not jumping them straight to the most expensive anchor product.

These last two paragraphs are so far beyond what most ecommerce store owners are doing with their jumbled messes they may as well be instructions from aliens on how to build a pyramid.

Throwing stuff at the wall and hoping it sticks is not a plan.

Imagine trying to learn how to drive a car with out any manual, classroom instruction, or instructor help. That's what it looks like you're trying to do here. You'd crash into things. Get some real expertise on your side, a real plan, and stick with one thing until you get it to work.

Ahh yes... that is the issue at hand. But now that I've caught it I think it's a matter of how do I optimize, right? How long do you wait (or how much do you spend) and try tweaking and optimizing a campaign when you say that it's not working and then move on to the next thing? :S

Just to relax you from your stress, I have a worse failure story.

So I am a blogger and after some research I started a blog on health. Let me know you that I am not a writer and also not a medical student or Doctor who can write exceptionally on health issues. But Just through my research I got to know that Health is a very popular niche and you can get good amount traffic from that niche.

So what I did, I bought a domain and started a Blog on Health. I posted the Contents written by my writer on regular basis and did all the possible things to get more and more traffic.

And 1 year of doing all these things, Can you Image how much Traffic I was getting on daily basis? Not even 10 hits a day.

Yes After all these things and investments done, I wasn't even getting 10 hits a day. So yeah I failed in that things. I except it and that's nothing to be ashamed about. It was my project and it didn't run as I expected but I haven't stop working on that blog. I am trying new things every time to get traffic.

So the best thing to be done to overcome failure is to NOT STOP. No matter what is happening, you have to do just one thing: WORK AND WORK

    There is not stopping.

    Good Luck!

    Hi There,
First of all, you are not a failure. It seems like a good achievement to me for someone who has been able to open five online stores for now. I can certainly put myself in your shoes as I am trying to create an audience for my site farenexus.com from last two years but in vain. The Facebook and Google Ads expenditure is rising and still, I can't see any genuine results, the funny part is the statistical graphs are just going down.
I don't yet have a success story to motivate you, however, I can certainly share but I did to overcome this frustration. I guess I was hoping too much, though I have invested in the right platforms every time I didn't get a result, it was tearing me from inside. The continuous frustration and calculations all the time was there in my brain and soon I realized that I am draining all my energy while hoping for the good results and getting irritated as they were certainly not on my way.
I just twisted the way of my thinking and living. Started waking up early followed by a vigorous exercise to keep me fit. Now I would always have time to work on new ideas rather evaluating the performance of current advertisements. I started increasing the social reach by tapping even more platforms and writing more on various Q&A sites.
It has not helped me to get traffic as if now but I am confident and certain that I will be able to get it. I don't have that feeling of being a failure rather I feel proud of trying and experimenting new stuff all the times.
I hope you get the idea - don't look don't on yourselves just because the results are not in your favour. Work even harder and keep yourself busy with new ideas - the results will come eventually.
    Thank you and good luck!!

First you better change your business model.

Dropshipping is goin to die in my opinion.

FOCUS FOR THE NEXT 60 DAYS on

-list building around a niche where there are affiliate products to sell and market demand

    - traffic on the opt in page.

You better have more success. You are not failed, you simply have dabbed a bit and choose maybe a wrong business model.

Focus on what has always worked for anyone who dive in totally.

I think dropshipping will be ok for people who can retain customers... I don't know if I'll be able to because I don't like following up with customer complaints, returns, and what not. You may have helped me figure out my own debate... Which one do I choose to focus on? Thank you.

If you're trying to do Ecommerce, I'd say

    1. Go on Mixergy and listen to people who've found success with ecommerce. - https://mixergy.com/interviews/jorda...ook-interview/ - this is just an example.
    2. Read books like Deliver Happiness by Tony Hsieh.
    3. Avoid courses like: "HOW I MADE $54,554 IN 20 DAYS AS A HOMELESS COLLEGE STUDENT WITH $0 INVESTMENT! -- I'LL GIVE YOU THE KEYS TO SUCCESS FOR $9.99!"
    3. If you're trying to get off the ground, I'd recommend getting a regular job first, getting some income momentum that way you're able to think more creatively for solutions. So many people are broke and money chasing -- not able to see simple solutions right in front of their eyes.

With regards to your question I see cpa offers made some people very rich and some others nothing! so, I believe to focus on the cpa offers, because online stores need good experience in how to monetize your store and how to get the correct traffic. while cpa offers works fine only if you select the right offer and deliver the correct traffic.

Also you can purchase an establishment drop-shipping online store that already achieves a profit monthly

    Hey,

I don't spend much time here but I'm an old hand. I've been doing this since 2004. Well, honestly, the last few years I got disillusioned and left to work for companies. I've been the internet marketer for a dentist, a social media company, an auto parts store, another auto parts store, a chiropractor, auto repair shops... and a lot more. I wouldn't say it's been the greatest experience of my life but it gives you an idea of what you can do. Everywhere I've been I've increased traffic 200%, I've installed chat systems, analytics, designed things, gotten 4 to 1 returns on Adwords campaigns. If you work professionally in the field for awhile then you start to realize how little other companies (Yellowpages, Adwords outifts, etc) really know. I've resisted the "become a guru" thought several times (believe me, I've been inline with some big names in the fitness niche who wanted me to make the turn) because I've always wanted to be about the results. You know more than you think you do because most people, even those with marketing degrees (I've had to teach them basic SEO and Adwords), don't know very much at times. Keep at it and if you want to get an idea of how much you know compared to those in the market then get a job in it. It will open your eyes and you'll realize how much money these businesses are throwing away because they refuse to do basic stuff like lead capture.

Thank you. I'm finally running some search ads and seeing people sign up. No actual conversions yet. I am trying to hit them with email after... guess we'll see. It's day 2... so I'll just let it sit a little longer but I'm starting to doubt the offer and it's actual sell page... hrmmmm.

I wouldn't consider myself a total success, but I am definitely on the track to success. I as an 18 year old have been able to make enough money online to not have to get a real job. I have been focusing mainly on affiliate marketing the past few months.

But, there was a time when I was terrible at all of this make money online stuff. For 3 years I spent thousands of dollars on shopify just waiting for my breakthrough. It never came. I decided to look into affiliate marketing and that is when I started to have a bit of success.

Moral of the story: It gets better, and if you aren't great at something either dedicate yourself to it until you have it mastered or try something else, you never know, you could be really good at it. Best of luck!

Thanks for sharing. I'm starting to think I'm bad at dropshipping too. LOL. I think it's my niche & product picking. I feel like I'm so close though.... but I know my strength is in search so affiliate would probably be the way to go. What kind of offers did you start seeing return with?

Did you setup and run 5 stores all at once? I don't think it's a good idea as we need to focus.

Hello affmarketer101. I definitely don't have the budget to run ads for 5 stores, especially being a newbie. Hehe. I started building them thinking I had the right niche. But then doubted myself as I continued to read case studies and take some of those guru courses. They totally got me. I finally started making sales in the last store I created, but I was spending way more on ads than making a return. I also realized that my niche probably wasn't passionate enough. While now I've built internal sales funnels I think I get the structural idea. My issue always seems to be the product I'm promoting and the targeting.... Any advice or insights on what you would do next if you were in my shoes?

Never give up. It can only get better if you keep trying.

Why? Did something happen to your campaign? I would love to know.

No. I was simply rudely commenting on the incredible shallowness and blatant incoherence of the post that i quoted.

To say, "It can only get better if you keep trying," is wishful thinking, stated as a fact. Anyone of average intelligence should be able to understand that it's entirely possible to keep trying for an indeterminate amount time and still fail miserably. There are no guarantees in life, or business, irrespective of how hard you try to do something - and for how long.

Putting forth the premises that you can't fail if you keep trying is a wonderful way of thinking (I guess), it's just that it's not rooted in fact. It's nothing more than a bromide - a false platitude. Living your life, or running a business, based on them, is dangerous.

          Cheers. - Frank

True. You can either hide under a rock and think that it's just not going to work or you can keep trying and maybe things will pan out after learning from mistakes. At the end of the day it's just how we all want to live our lives. There's only one thing for sure. We die in the end anyways. So what's it going to be right? Haha.

Anyways... I've gotten some return before, just not much yet so it's tweaking time. If I believe that I will fail miserable, which may happen, I would regret never following through. So I'm going to keep believing that I can do it with real expectations. Not like I'm hoping to make a million in 1 day. Just not going to happen at the rate I'm at.

Well thanks for your honestly. Best wishes to you Frank.

Absolutely! If it's going to work at all, it's going to be after you keep trying and learning from your mistakes. Rarely, if ever, does anyone hit pay dirt, right out of the shoot (regardless of what some here, claim). My only point is that you still have to admit to yourself, the simple fact that no matter how long you try or how hard you work, although you can certainly improve your chances, you are never assured of success. That's just not how the world works.

At the end of the day it's just how we all want to live our lives. There's only one thing for sure. We die in the end anyways. So what's it going to be right? Haha.
Yep! I never tell people that they should follow my lead and that all I espouse is irrefutable. I'm sure I've been wrong at least once in my life. Well, not really sure. Will have to intensely ponder that and get back to you. :-)

Realistic expectations is the best way to approach it, along with setting realistic, easily achievable goals, not just relating to income, but what you do to build your dream. Start with small tasks, complete them successfully and use the self-confidence you will garner to encourage you to try more difficult task with each new step forward.

              Well thanks for your honestly.
Gee, I don't think anyone has ever said that to me, here, before. lol Not many people are looking for honesty. They would rather have their preconceived notions validated, regardless of how potentially disastrous they may be. Thank you for that. Sometimes I feel like a lone voice, crying in the wilderness.

              Best wishes to you Frank.
And the best of luck to you, to add to your hard work, going forward. A little bit of luck, never hurts.

              Cheers.

If everything was so easy then there would be more millionaires and billionaires around the world.

In any profession you will see that the Success Stories are few but you will find a lot of failure stories.

The biggest challenge we face as online marketers is the kind of people we get attracted to and follow. It is usually those people who flash expensive car, their mansions and their amazing lifestyle.

What happens next is that we start a venture with excitement.

Now you have to understand that excitement blinds our vision. It simply means we miss a lot of things that we should have asked questions about.

The best entrepreneurs thrive on paranoia. They are under constant fear of losing it all. Or when they are starting out not being able to be successful.

These people really make decisions that are 1000 times better than normal people. Thus they get the results 1000x times better than normal people. Now even if these people teach you about everything they will not tell you about their deepest scars and the things that actually got them to success.

When someone says that I can become a millionaire if I follow their advice and do what they tell me to do within 30 days then I actually avoid them and their advice.

But if someone comes to me and says that look this is business as usual there are a few things you need to learn. And if you do that may be if you are good at doing what you do then may be you will be successful in 12 to 18 months. But the conditions is that you do not give up. You learn from your failures. And whatever lessons you have learned use them to improve your skills and talents required for this business.

I would like to follow such a person.

So I look for testimonial where someone made 80K in 18 months and what steps they took to be there or a person made about 300K in 3 years after struggling for initial 2 years and what experience that person can share.

    Patience is Important!

The challenge is that any business not just online takes time to build first. It is like building an Aeroplane. Before the first flight the Aeroplane has to be perfectly built before it can take off for the first flight. Once the Aeroplane has been built perfectly then it can fly as much as it want till it is having routine maintenance to make sure the Aeroplane is still good for flying.

In the same way your business is like an Aeroplane.

It takes your customer from one place (problem) to another (solution). Now every customer who comes in touch with your business is unique. Though the problems they have and solutions you give may be similar but each customer is unique.

You have to solicit each customer with a different story.

Like people who use the Aeroplane to fly from one place to another. Each and every pax may be boarding from the same place and going to the same place at least in that plane. But everyone may have a different story. Someone is going to meet their loved ones, others may be going for a job, still others may be going to attend a wedding and so on.

So start thinking about your business as a vehicle that you use to transport your customers from the problem to a solution. And while you transport your customers from problem to solution also try to think about the different stories each customers will be having.

This will make your advertising powerful.

    Always work for Profit

In any business if you are going into loss then you are a few steps away from closing down your business. It is ok not to spend money on your business till you identify how you are going to make a profit.

After that everything is testing. What ads are producing profit? Run them more and increase their budgets. What ads are producing loss? Close them and think about something else.

    CPA Offers

You also mentioned something about CPA Offers. Now running an Ad for CPA offers can be really tricky.

    For example.

If your CPA offer gives you $10 as commissions and when you do the advertisement you are doing ads worth $50 to get one customer you are making a loss of $40 with each customer you get for your offer. This means that after 10 customers you will lose $400 and after 1000 customer $40000.

But if your CPA offer gives you $1250 commission and when you do the advertisement and to get one customer costs $250 then that means you have a profit of $1000 for one customer. This means 10 customer = 10K Profit and so on.

So it completely depends on your CPA Offers whether you can use the Advertising or not.

    Complete Failure

When you accept that you have failed is a good position if you are ready to improve. Please understand the stories of inspiration and motivation will not help you in this situation. Because someone else's success is not going to help you any time.

Each of us has to carve out our own success.

So even if I read about success or failure of others it will just be an entertaining thing. You may become a little relaxed to know that out of every 10000 people who start an online business 1 achieves 7 figure income. Out of every 1000 people who start an online business 1 achieves 6 figure income. Out of every 100 people who start an online business 1 achieves 5 figure income.

But this statistics has no meaning for you or anyone else or even me. Because you can be the one to start a 5 or 6 or even 7 figure business.

Yes quitting would not do it. If you are thinking of quitting then you would always regret when you see someone else became successful doing the same thing you are doing only a little differently. May be they had a different product to sell. May be their website was better. May be their ad was better. May be they worked 1 more hour extra than you.

So do whatever. Drink a cool glass of water and do the following.

    1. Write down a Goal with a Timeline : E.g. I want to earn $10K by 31 July 2018. (You put whatever date you want.)

    2. Make a Backward Plan on Paper : First identify how much sales you will need to achieve your goal. Then make a detailed plan based on all your experience and understanding on what you can do better than what you have already done. Calculate your advertising cost. Calculate your profit. Everything. If your plan does not work on paper then I can gaurantee that it will not work in real life.

So make sure you get this planning done and make a plan that works on paper.

    3. Execute your Plan mercilessly: You have to execute all the steps in the plan till the date you have mentioned.

Now the RESULT will only be 2 things. One you would have achieved your Goal. Two you would have not achieved your goals.

    1. If you achieved your goal : Your planning and execution was perfect. The only thing you need to do is remove all the things that did not work in your plan. Make another goal. Make another plan. Execute again.

    2. If you did not achieve your goal: Your planning and/or execution was totally flawed. Go back and see what did not work. Was it the product? Was it the advertising? What is your email copy? Find out exactly what did not work. Do all the 3 steps again.

The most successful entrepreneurs are those who stayed the longest.
When everyone is saying NO. When you are feeling NO. When your coach is saying NO.

The only person who can actually change everything is you.

So go ahead and change your story right now.

Hope to see a thread where you tell your success story that inspires many.
