Is paid traffic worth it? Or should I go for Facebook Ads/Google AdWords?

Hello!
I am looking to promote my website, which sells web design. However I am not sure which traffic source to use. Is paid traffic essential and worth it? And how high investment should I make? Which provider is genuine, legit and useful?
Also - is it worth it investing in FB Ads? How much should be initial investment?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Paid traffic can be started as low as $5. In fact, Google also provides you with a few promotional credits when you are starting out with adwords. I would recommend that you create an adwords account and explore the options. They even provide you assistance when setting up your ads.

But i again reiterate that go through some training before you invest anything into advertising. It's your hard earned money after all and you must invest it wisely..

Agreed. You'll need to test it out yourself. Off personal experience, I've always had Adwords convert at higher rates than Facebook, so I tend to prefer putting more budget there than FB. But it could be completely different for you. Good luck!

Don't forget you can also run Bing ads. They are cost effective compared to Adwords the spend is less and if set up right can bring in buying traffic. Try experiment on all sources (adwords, bing , facebook) and see how you make out. The only way you can find out what works best for you is testing each place.

FYI : If you go to the classic view by switching to it under you user name. You can reply to each poster so they who you are talking to.

    Hello,

I'd like to share my view on this.

You can use Google Adwords or Facebook Ads. But as your niche is web design, the competition among the keywords on google for that niche is very high and you will need to invest more if you want to bid for keywords to place the Ads.

Moreover about your Facebook Ads. It is way cheaper to get traffic from Facebook Ads than from Google Ads. But it also depends upon in which area you need to place the Ads and on which interests you need to place the Ads.

Thus I would suggest you to trial and test both on initial basis and then continue on the method which is more beneficial to you.

I hope it helps. Good Luck!

    Andrea.

If you're a beginner it may be better starting with Facebook Ads.

But when promoting a website, do you have a market strategy behind?

I mean lead generation, a funnel to sell something, and the website has its collocation in a specific marketing sequence?

Or are you trying to advertise a page hoping people to buy items only cause they see that page?

I think you better have to build your list, through a pop un in the website, by providing content, have something to sell, and use a website as a reinforce for your brand not as the only way to sell.

    Hi, Pavel

Great question. I would say, first of all, if one doesnÂŽt know how to create free traffic, one shouldnÂŽt go into paid traffic. The importance is to train yourself to become good at "attracting" the right clients, by training yourself in using the right words (copy) and pictures in doing so. This can be done without paid traffic. Once one has succeeded in generating the first leads on a stable basis by using non-paid traffic, then itÂŽs time to move into paid traffic. That is my opinion since many people start with paid traffic and end up spending a TON of money on getting nowhere since they donÂŽt understand the "mechanics" of "attracting" the right clients or customers, which includes copy and visuals.

"Learn something new every day and eventually you will succeed!"

Depends on your market and your goals. Are you trying to just get any traffic? Then it probably doesn't matter. Is your website something that gets a lot of social attention? Then maybe try to reach more on SM. Or if its saturated then go Google. Do a keyword search on Google. Are people searching for whatever is on your site? If not then social media is the way to go. Run a pixle from fb and google on your site so you can get demographics and retarget. Buy several small ads and see what performs. then retarget them a few times to catch every sale. Your CPC might be high doing it htis way so if you are selling something with tight margins then maybe thats not the best but if you are offering a service, just make sure you don't spend more than the potential revenue from 1 customer. If you can't get one customer from those methods you really should go back and look at your ad, your site, or some combination of the two.

Hello dude, Both the sources you are trying to use could be all good, you only need to go for both, and see whish one works better for you, then decide. What i will remind you is that you should keep in mind that free traffic is kind of slow with results, which is not the case for paid traffic most of the time. i wish you luck on this.

As most people here are suggesting the answer you seek will come from testing. But in my personal experience Google Adwords works well for web design leads because the price per customer is generally much less then the cost of web design services. I would find a free $100 try coupon and test it out. Search other web designer google ads around the country and look at how there ads are set up. Take notes from that and create your own and test as you go. Aldo I highly recommend split testing so that you are constantly improving yours leads per click.

    Good Luck!

For sure Google Adwords is the best, however :

Using Google Adwords required a good technical knowledge
Google Adwords CPC is very high in which you end up not making any profit.
Google Adwords does not allow you to advertise to affiliate links directly,
So for each product you want to market you will need to create a landing page.

However, there are alternative to Google Adwords, that is:

    Easy to use
    Having very low CPC rate
Allow you to advertise your affiliate links directly ( at least most of them do )

    Hope you'll get your answer.

    Thank you!!!

To get leads for a web design company, it would be wise to go for some freelancing sites. In freelancing sites, you would find clients with developed needs and it will be easier to convert those leads, however, on Facebook or other social media you can expect brand awareness mostly but the real conversion would be very less.

Both are good but it depends on you, Because if you have enough budget to spend on paid ads then it will be good, benefits of this you got instant traffic on your site, also you able to rank it on Google, time-saving as well. But this thing is continuous until you have money.
In another case, if you haven't money, you have to spend time on directory submission, bookmarking, Forums commenting this way traffic redirected to your site and no need to spend money, also traffic you got that is original traffic. But you have adopt some passions here.

    Hii,
You can promote your website through PPC (Pay Per Click) ads in Google Adwords. But before doing that you have to plan everything target relevant keywords because if your website is showing on the irrelevant search you will lose all the money. SEO is free but it will take great time and effort and Yes It is worth to invest in Facebook ads not necessary to go for paid ads. You can promote your website and ask your friends to like, comment and share more and more. Make sure that your website landing page is good if it is not good then the users will exit the page which increases the bounce rate which is not good for your website

Both are good options, depends whats the source of your paid traffic. Is the traffic you're getting from the paid site, really convertible? is it related to your niche? And then comes for fb ads and adwords, are you able to optimize it? Are you able to find out the best keywords suited for your niche? If you can do all of it, you can try it out and see what helps you the most. Do share your experience here though, would be a great opportunity to learn about it.

Paid advertisements will not give expected ROI unless you know your target audience and your services. Paid advertisements only display your ads on search results depending how much you pay for a particular keyword. But most important is some one should click the ad to go to your website or blog and dig out the information they are looking for. For beginners paid advertisement what so ever, google Adwords, FB or others is not recommended.

You don't have to point on a specific traffic source. Use paid traffic for instant traffic while having a strong organic traffic strategy for the long run.
As to which is better, it depends on your needs. Like all the others have suggested, try it first even though for me personally, i will say you should go with facebook ads.

There are a couple of things you could do. Before you get worried about all that, pick 3 of your competitors and put in their URLs one at a time into www.similarweb.com

Will give you a sense of direction. Do it for about 10-15 of your competitors. You will know which channels to focus upon.

About investing how much, you really can decide how much, start a low as possible understand the audience behaviour and things should start moving. Any questions please do not hesitate.

First of all , you have to research yourself and decide whether you need paid traffic for your website or not. You have to analyse and optimize your site. You can also go to a professional or a freelancer who can help you bring traffic to your website. And you are asking about Facebook ads and Google adwords, they themselves are paid traffic. You should start initially with little investment and then move on further.

It seems people have already answered, but I'll give my 2c

Marketing is ALL about testing. Traffic sources, ads, landing pages, sales pages, headlines... you get it.

FB Ads is GREAT if you know how to make it work. So is Google (that's why they're the current duopoly for digital marketing).

The best thing for you to do is focus on one thing and make it work.

Facebook: works best if you can feed the algorithm data (previous customers, upcoming customers) and then let Facebook do the rest.

Google: CPC's can get expensive, but you can target "buy web design", so the leads you get would be highly targeted

Other sources: Solo ads can work, but most are junk.

By the way, FB Ads & Google (SEA) are also "paid traffic".

If you want to discover the traffic source that works the best for you, without having to see which source costs the most, set up a landing page to collect e-mails and optimize based on leads.

This way you can start your test with a few $100 to discover which source may work the best for you.

    Again, just my 2c...

  • Hi,
I've done Google Adwords, FB and YouTube. It all depends on what you are selling. However I suggest that you research and educate yourself as much as possible before proceeding. Even if you plan to hire a freelancer because from my experience most freelancers will not put forth a great deal of effort and if you do not know what to look for you will lose money.

    good luck

For lead generation, Google search ads is the best option because you will get qualified clicks from prospects who are in need of your service. But start at low budget depending on the keyword bids.
Facebook ads is good for traffic. Of course it helps getting leads but not all will be qualified.
The budget split must be more for search ads and then the rest for Facebook.

Any traffic FREE or Paid depends on two factors.

    1. Time.
    2. Money.

Let is look at the first option.

    1. Time :

If you are a just starting out and you have time at your hand then you can use your time to generate traffic.

In this case you will create your website and do the required SEO as well as blogging to the extent that it attracts people to your website.

Then you can let the people know about your Product or Services on your website or through email marketing.

FREE traffic takes time. But once it starts working then the traffic or leads you generate will become autopilot.

    2. Money.

You can use the PAID Traffic Method if you already know how much money you can make when you spend $1 on advertising.

For e.g. If you spend $1 on Advertising and make $2 from that then every $1000 you spend you will be making $2000. Which means you are in profit.

But if you spend $1 and you are not able to make $1 back then you will soon burn all the money you have in paid advertising.

Paid Advertising works very well when you have fixed cost products and you know the exact cost of fulfilment of the product.

For example if the cost of making your product is A and Cost of Advertising is B then the Price of your Product should be greater than A + B let us call it C.

So if C > A + B then you will be in Profit of C - (A+B) what ever is that number.

Now it depends on how much money you want to make where you can adjust A or B or C. That will give you the numbers you need.

Both the methods of Traffic FREE or PAID need a proper strategy. You will need to think about the strategy and then execute it step by step.

I have seen both the methods work for me. Free takes a lot of time so now I depend on PAID method of advertising.

Also I sell Digital Products of other people also known as Affiliate Marketing so it is easy for me to find out what will be my ROI. If I spend $10 how much I'm going to get back. Depending on that I build all my campaigns.

On the side I also spend at least 20 % to 30 % of my time in building free traffic channels like Blog, Youtube, Facebook and Instagram. When that starts working my Paid promotions can go down.

Hope I could answer this for you.

When you run a business, it is imperative that you bring in customers who will make purchases. Otherwise, how would you ever turn a profit? The same holds true of website businesses. If you can't get people to your site where they can make their purchases, you're not going to be in business for long. That's why businesses invest in marketing to help expose their company and product and attract new customers.

Sometimes, part of that marketing budget might actually include the purchase of actual site visitors themselves. With this kind of strategy, businesses are hoping just getting customers there once will be enough to get them to make a purchase and to boost their search engine ranking for more exposure. Some business owners are afraid to make this leap though, because they are unsure as to whether or not buying traffic will be a profitable investment or just another cost to add to their budget.

Paid traffic never worth it. because paid traffic is not which you exactly want and which you target. Paid traffic also not recommend method by google. So, in simple words, better to go with the FB ads or Google Adwords.

  • I've tried Google and FB and never received a good ROI. Of course there are many variables that could have contributed to this, but it just never seemed to work out regardless of how many different campaigns styles, campaign managers, etc.

It used to be rather easy to find traffic through simple link exchange programs, but now Google has changed things to move more people toward Adwords.

Honestly the only people I have ever seen promote Adwords in a positive light are those that sell Adword services.
