How do you decide what to sell?

Ok, im at the point where i need to decide what to sell through dropship, i need a niche with unique products who have low competition and also they are easy to ship.

I was thinking about drones since it looks kinda trendish but there is competition in this niche, also there are tons of products available to sell so i wouldn't simply pick a product without investigating everything.

Anyway, what's the proper way to make a product research? i don't have any particular passion so for me any product will be the same. I was searching bestselling products but i don't know if you should base your decision on this.

What do you think? is there a software or something to guide you?

Time for a reality check....where are you going? Do you have a plan yet? That was your first question some weeks ago.

There are countless threads about market research and niche research - did you read any of them? What I see is someone focused on questions ...jumping from one idea to another. You don't learn anything by doing that.

A quick list of new thread topics you've started in the last few WEEKS:

    creating a plan
    adwords
    dropshipping
    facebook groups/twitter hashtag
    expensive products
    bloggers
    blogger
    adsense
    niche/blogging
    articles
    ebay/clicibank affiliate
    dropship psychology
    copying others
    high ticket (definition)
    copywriter/designer
    write articles fast
    strategy advice
    copywriting
    finding suppliers for dropshipping

....and several more threads that were deleted rather than approved because they were too general or on topics already discussed here multiple times (forum search is a good thing).

You've had over 160 responses in your threads - that's a lot. What have you learned from them? Have you learned to identify members who know what they are talking about on various topics? Have you tried any of the advice/solutions offered?

Don't mean to sound rude but you need a wakeup call....you need to do enough research and an internal dialogue with yourself to know WHAT area to focus on. It doesn't have to be an area of 'passion' - it can be anything that interests you.....and that has a target market you can reach. CHOOSE a path and stay on it or you will be going in circles for months, if not years.

No one here does it all - no matter what they tell you. Good thing is - you don't have to understand every method online to make money. You just need to learn and do a few things WELL.

    You want...perfect? Not that easy.

Here is what you do....look up every thread by the member who started the thread below - and READ his posts...while reading the you will find several other members who clearly know the import/dropshipping business....read what they have to say as well.

It's not as simple as 'where is a supplier' - if someone has a great supplier, they won't tell you abuot it for good reason. Or "I think I'll sell drones"....LEARN the business if you want to succeed at it.

    https://www.warriorforum.com/ecommer...rter-here.html

If you are serious about creating a business online - decide which business you want and learn from those doing it! Not the gurus selling you on the fast/easy/money methods....but those making a living doing the business or using the method you choose.

You are well spoken enough and smart enough to do this - up to you. Good luck.

I expected such response sooner or later after so many questions. Well, it's the exact opposite of what you think, im researching every single thing in detail in order to find out what i like enough in order to put the hard work required and also to learn some theoritical things im curious about, im not running in circles, i haven't even started yet, im at the phase where i gather info, as much as i can. Once i finally start the business, i will obviously put intense focus on one thing and that's the exact reason i ask so many questions, i want to make sure that my decision will be valuable. I want to make sure that i won't slack or give up (the most important thing for me). Like sunzu says "first win then go to war".

Im not looking for a secret formula or guru because i don't believe in such things even though i would like a coach (the fastest way to success), im looking mostly to learn what processes are involved in detail so i won't miss anything in my analysis and i actually got some amazing answers in some threads that i didn't even expect. Im mostly gathering opinions to see what people believe. My impression in the "making money online scheme" so far is that it's possible to make the money but there is tons of work and competition involved. Lastly im new to this thing, i research the subject for like 2 months now and there are tons of things you can do online, i can't create a plan without knowing what kind of work is required and what my ev looks like on every single one of them. All these threads actually helped me realize a lot. I have failed in the past for rushing and not doing proper analysis on the details.

As for this thread, you should try to see it from my point of view, do i expect a pro dropshipper coming here and tell me what products i should sell? clearly no, im not a fool to believe this but i expect to fish some information that will give me a "general idea" and there is a good chance for that happen considering that i got some great answer on different threads especially the dropshipping one, i have nothing to lose by asking overall, even if the chance to get a great answer is like 1%, it's still +EV thread since it will save me money without wasting more than 1 min of my life.

Ok, you got one thing right, im not searching enough, i should stop slack and search the forum more, im apologizing for making so many threads. I actually think im at the end of my proactive analysis, i had a plan at some point but the ev didn't look good based on my research and the answers here so i didn't start it, right now i have none but i think i know what i like at least even though ev wise i still don't know where i stand, i should probably seek a coach or just start and learn the hard way.

Still if you want to answer this thread, i would be thankful. There are thousands of products out there, how do you even find a profitable market? are there specific channels where you gather "fundamental" data about what trends are going to start? social media for example? do you research every single product of your niche and list those with few competitors? i don't think bestselling items are a good indicator. At this point i have no way to evaluate the ev of the products i will sell and there are thousands of them, oh well, at least i won't lose anything, i will just set some standars and follow them, I will search more threads here as well.

C'mon. If there were definitive answers to your questions that greatly increased the likelihood of success from the get-go, that's what everyone would be off doing and they wouldn't be sharing their formula with anyone else.

Pick something to get your feet wet. Don't invest your live savings in it. Be prepared to fail, miserably. If you have the courage and persistence after that, take what you learned, refine it and try, again.

It's a process and it's not a straight path. Man, I loathe trite clich├ęs, but seriously - 'Take action!!!'

Maybe, future times, you'll give him something to lose? Maybe the best answer to Time Wasters is ignoring them? Although, he is trying to research before he pulls the trigger, albeit, annoying to us, but it may be a valuable process for him? We'll see.

    Optedin, you forgot tea leaves!

Shanks, you need to make a choice. Are you going to listen to the advice that Kay and so many others have given you or are you going to continue to go in circles?

If you find a niche with no competition run like the wind. It probably means there are no buyers, not that you are the first to ever think of it.

Many people have a passion for the process or for the freedom an online business gives them, not a passion for every single product.

Decide where you want to go. Then work backwards with a step by step plan to get there. Then do it! Don't take one step and then decide to do something different.

Stop looking for shortcuts such as using other people's copywriting. If you can't do your own, hire someone. Don't start a business by throwing out your integrity. It does not bode well for the long term.

Make a decision. Once you've done that we can help you. But this part is up to you.

That's the only question im trying to answer, what process i like the most, if you like a process then you can never fail, being mentally strong is the most important thing for success, if you absolutely hate something and you do it only for money or show then you are gonna slack, tilt and give up eventually. This question is not easy to answer though because humans tend to like most what they understand better and give up on things that look more complicated, i don't want to fall into this trap, i plan to experiment a bit for a week or so until i reach a solid conclusion and then i will "pull the trigger", the process improves me anyway so i don't lose much. Thanks for clarifying though, i need to repeat this to myself everyday.

I put a lot of emphasis on the mental part because i already failed once because of this and i understand its importance now, how many bloggers or youtubers have you seen who simply gave up because they didn't get the views they needed fast? i guess a lot, those people shouldn't even begin in the first place, they should instead seek something they like. I met a blogger who didn't even have a domain name on his site and he had like 100 followers yet he kept posting stuff for a very long time without even thinking to give up, he said to me that he didn't even want to make money, he enjoyed a lot what he did, that's the spirit i need to have.

That's something people say when they are unable to make money at what they are doing. If he was supporting himself through other means, great. That just means the blogging was a hobby, not a business.

How does one NOT have a domain name on their site? Time to learn the basics.

The "hard work" part of blogging is blogging itself, if you are capable to put so much work and think of it as a hobby only then that's strange, since he didn't even try then i guess he was saying the truth. What im saying is that a business can demoralize you, you can't realize your full potential if you first don't endure bad or boring situations and work hard until the end. Even if that guy was failing at making money, that's still ok, at least he realized how far he could go.

My english are bad, i meant he used the subdomain of wordpress.

That won't put food on the table. If you are in business and you are not making money, you are failing at business, even if you are writing the best blog known to mankind. How is that, "OK?"

You need to start somewhere... either figure out your target audience, or pick a product... it sounds like you might just be randomly guessing... I know drones are catchy, but are they selling right now? who's interested in them? what's the mark up? etc?

You're not selling anything without targeted traffic.

Traffic is 87% of any business.

That was my point - we know that....we can see that. You won't really start learning until you start doing. "Focus" is advice you need - whether you take it or not is up to you.

Just read a thread by someone who's been 'collecting information' for five years...

    Hi,

I agree, niche research can be really tricky. There are so many niches and so many offers to choose from. Let me tell you what I do to select my niches.

As I can read, you have the advantage of not favouring any particular niche. So that more or less opens you to all the niches. You can also have the birds eye view of all the niches.

Now coming back to my method of selecting The Niche:

    1. Are there offers to promote in that niche. To see this you can do a quick google search and see how many vendors offer products in that category. If there are less vendors, it might mean that there is no demand in the niche, that's why manufacturers are not manufacturing in that niche. If that is so, step back immediately and search for another niche.

    2. Are customers in the niche known to buy. This is the tricky part. For this basically you need to see how many customers are searching for that product and how many are buying.
For the former, you can use Google keyword planner. It's a free tool that shows you how many people have searched for that keyword (your product) recently.
For the latter, check whether Amazon and other major e-commerce stores list products in that category. If they are, then there is a good chance that people buy regularly in that category.

    3. Do you like the niche? Not a major factor in your case. But still search for some passion you have and develop a drop shipping business around it. It's easier to market when you love the products.

    4. Lastly, can you market to the niche in a profitable way. You are right. You should not get into a niche that is too congested.

I would like to add to this, and mention that you should also not get into a niche that has very less competition. That maybe because people don't actually buy products in that niche (food for thought..?).

Solution: I would recommend you to Carve Out Your Own Piece of a Larger Niche. E.g. if you plan to enter weight loss, then maybe target products for women between 25 and 35. They maybe looking for products which are high on quality, give quick results and the price can be a bit high too. (They won't mind buying expensive as most of them are earning and like to spend on themselves..). Zero down on your target market and promote exclusively to them.

DO you get the point? Try and follow this method. You should be able to decide upon a niche.

    Thanks,
Shubho C | Lead Hustler, Always...
