Is This Why We Cloak Links? UGH! !@$%&*%$#@! [Newbie In DESPAIR] :*(

I was wondering why no one was converting after they signed up for my email list. I didn't cloak it. I literally took the link from the affiliate offer and put it in the button click redirects. Is this why we cloak links? I thought we cloak them so the other affiliate marketers can't spy on us. Being a newb, I'm just trying to get a system down. But now I've hit a brick wall... HELP PLZ? *tear*

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Cloaking links will not stop the Chrome warning. Chrome knows the final destination.

    The problem is with your affiliate program.

    IGM is right. Something is wrong at the destination. It could be the affiliate program itself, or the site may have been hacked and it's not safe.

    It's the domain. If it's your landing page, change domain and landing page.


    If it's the affiliate landing page, change product, you can do nothing about it, let the owner care for his/her product first.

    There are a few reasons why links are being cloaked, one of which is to allow it to be posted in blogs, youtube and other social media platforms. However if google shows this warning it could be that there is a problem with the link you provided.

    The cloaking is only to hide your content to indesired audience, but also to your competitors yes, but i don't think that is the issue over here, but you should try to contact your manager from your affiliate network.

    The program is the issue. Do you know who created what you are selling? Can you vet them? Hyped-out copy? The best way to avoid this problem is to sell stuff from trusted folks. Even programs or vendors can go south fast. Tough to swallow I know but worth it in the long run. I only sell stuff from folks I bonded with over months and years. More prospering there and no problems.

    As already said. Cloaking links does not stop issues with the destination web page.


    Why do affiliate marketers use cloaked links?


    1. They think it protects them from competitors (false)(paranoid maybe)
    2. To fool websites that do not allow affiliate links (rarely works)
    3. To shorten, brand and pretty your ugly affiliate link (only valid answer)
