Hey I'm Becky

I'm new to the forums I want to get started with this marketing shiz
I'm a digital designer and I've been making websites for years now
but I'm getting more interested in the affiliate/marketing/seo/copywriting side of it

I mainly came on here to be a lurker as not many of my friends are interested in these things
But looking at the topics I might end up being overly active lol

Choose one and focus. Don't make the most common newbie mistake. Well, after attempting to start an online business with no money. lol

Get past those two issues and you'll at least have some chance at success.

    Good luck.

Maybe that's where I am going wrong.
I enjoy learning more about each one and doing them but stretching myself thin doing 100 things at once. How do I know which one to develop more if I enjoy trying diff methods out?

It's OK to look into various things in order to ascertain if there is something that you have a natural affinity for. Just try to reach a conclusion in a relatively short amount of time - and THEN focus.

Whatever you do, don't turn anything you consider a 'passion' into an avocation. In the end, especially if you fail at it, you will destroy the love you once had for something that used to bring you pleasure.

Also, don't fall for the absolutely ridiculous sentiment that, "If you just believe in yourself and never, ever quit - you will ultimately succeed." Total rubbish. lol

Doing 100 things at once equals, "Jack of all trades - master of none!"

Lol you've given me too many banging one line words of wisdom in just one post. I am overwhelmed !

I did that with graphic design I killed my passion for a good 5 years by carving a career in it.

Thanks for the tips! I'll keep it in mind

Be sure to spread the word, especially to other newbies you may encounter. This bit of verbal flatulence is one of the most destructive pieces of advice that is dished-out in the IM space. You know from first-hand experience - so now you have an obligation to save others from that same fate.

Thanks for the tips! I'll keep it in mind
            You're very welcome.

  • Generally speaking, if you are trying to get into online/affiliate marketing you should enjoy developing a blog or youtube channel. They function the same and are a way to get traffic to your links.

Again, this is the norm, there are hundreds of ways to promote products. the two I mentioned above are good for long term success. Pick a niche, and pick a platform I mentioned above and get started.

I am like you, I am interested in everything. Hard to focus on one thing. But after a while once you have tasted everything, you put it all together like a recipe. The recipe for success. Your success, as everyone's success and journey towards that success is different for everyone. Good Luck

I have done some graphics work and a few sites as well, but for myself mainly.

And SEO is only interesting for the free traffic or getting in good with Microsoft Adwords. Or l don't think that there is any worry's about getting exited about that one?

I find SEO really fun mainly when suddenly see see your site get ranked on the first page on google! Everytime this happens I screenshot and add it to my trello. LOL
I Even screenshot earning 2p from google adsense. I don't even care how much it is as long as there's something there I'm so hyped!!!

All new threads are reviewed by the mods. Sometimes they get approved pretty quickly and sometimes it takes a while.

If your thread is not approved, you should get a PM or an email.

Common reasons for threads not being approved include:
      • Articles copied and pasted from elsewhere
      • Spam, advertising, self-promotion
      • Nonsense
      • Link drops
      • Very common or unclear questions that can be answered with 5 minutes of research such as "what is an ebook?"
      Welcome to the forum.

Hello Becky and welcome to the forum.

What exactly are you looking to learn? Or just affiliate stuff in general?

I just kinda like chatting about marketing stuff with people who like it too xD There's not really a real reason. I just kinda like this stuff? I like writing in my blog just to write in it. I read back to the ones when I was 13 and it cracks me up. I like feeling connected to others and learning new stuff for my job or blog . And yourself?

You will have an edge over other Newbies as you come from the digital designing background. Learn creating videos, writing blogs, social media influencing and club all this with email marketing... You are ready to go. It is a tough competitive market but its too interesting also... Good luck.
