Does my AFFILIATE MARKETING game plan suck?

Hi Everyone, first post.

Brief background, I run a successful brick and mortar business with 14 employees. The business is reasonably successful (profitable + growing) but it has recently started to drain every ounce of my soul from me. I have some heavy duty personal issues tied to this business as well. (It's a family business). So I have been researching new business models and now want to get into affiliate marketing. At the very least it will help me better run marketing at my current business and I am hopeful that it can at one point both replace my income from my current job. Cautiously optimistic but totally not buying into the "It's easy to make gobs of money" hype.

I've spent the past few days reading all of the recent posts in the beginners area and I am amazed at the amount of frank, non hype-y and helpful feedback here on WF. You guys (and girls) are awesome. I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

So I am just about ready to take the plunge and was hoping for some feedback with my game plan to get into AFFILIATE MARKETING

AFFILIATE MARKETING GAME PLAN:

1 choose a product from Clickbank that has decent stats (gravity, $ per sale, etc. ) also chose one that I can create or buy high quality copy for.
2 Autoresponder = GETResonse https://www.getresponse.com/
3 Squeeze Page = LeadPages https://www.leadpages.net/
4 Analytics = Click Magick https://www.clickmagick.com

Potential cost per month =
** low end $52/month
** high end / month $131
This depends on whether I sign up for the cheapest plans from GetRsponse, LeadPages, ClickMagick or go for the mid-range plans.

Questions:
  • Is my GAME PLAN a reasonable strategy to start?
  • Am I making any major errors?
  • Do you suspect the entry level membership levels at GetRsponse, LeadPages, ClickMagick offer enough functionality for a beginner?

I realize at some point I just need to jump in. But I am hoping to avoid diving into the wrong part of the pond and breaking my neck on my first go. Ouch! Hate it when that happens.

Have an awesome day, and thanks in advance for any advice / comments.

Just want to share my experience in affiliate-marketing.
I just use Youtube to explain my offer to the viewers, and I do straight explanation of the product and give my affiliate link inside the video and also in the description.
It still works today and make money without a list at all. And I've been doing this for years.
I know if I have a list it would be wonderful, but it's not easy to build the list from my place (read: expensive).
So, I'm okay with the little profit I get every month for this free Youtube traffic.

If you just want to gain some experience with online marketing, that's one thing. But selecting a random Clickbank product to promote isn't much of a business strategy. To become a serious affiliate marketer, you'll need your own customers. Most marketers achieve this by building a list of subscribers in the niche they're targeting.

My advice would be to first choose a market - based on factors such as the number of potential customers, your intended method (and cost) of prospect acquisition, and the availability of products or services - then concentrate on growing a targeted subscriber base.

I think what you're proposing sounds like a solid place to start, only thing I'd do differently is pick a niche instead of just one appealing offer. That way once the offer is bled to death you don't have to reinvent the wheel with your next one.

    Two questions -

What about your current business is so draining lately?

And what do you feel you lack marketing wise in your current business?

Hi, it's an family owned educational services business located overseas (private school + daycare facilities). The current environment is toxic for me and will probably not change.

      Current sales funnel is:
Good Ads - ho hum landing page - opportunity to contact us for a trial lesson.

I want to use some of the techniques for affiliate marketing like building a mailing list and a set of short valuable E-mail messages to build trust in our brand. I want to appeal to prospective customers who are somewhere in between "call now" and "not interested". Currently its all or nothing.

Where overseas is this business? I assume there may be a language difference from your market?

Would you mind linking me to your landing page? You can PM it to me if you'd like.

Forget the affiliate marketing for a second. At least in reference to your actual business. .

I'm actually building up as we speak. I 'm a direct response email copywriter and maybe I can help you out a bit.

If so, I have some specific questions and would like to see what sort of strategy you can do even before you decide to get involved with autoresponders (which is a great tool to utilize and automate your email marketing).

To get prospects that are between the call now and not interested out of that box, you need to jingle the best benefits of your services in front of their desire clock. You need to set their alarm off to say YES!

Sometimes that means warming them up. That's the beauty of email. You can either get a direct response in terms of offering value and warming them up to trusting you or you can go for a direct sales response.

Emails are great because they're personal.

I'd like to see the landing page though. See what content is on there and how it is structured. If I can help with that also I'll give you some pointers to make changes.

How are you planning on driving traffic? This is a huge part but appears to be missing?

      Hi Chris, Great question.

Ad Words to start. Possibly Facebook. (Group + paid for ads)
SEO for mid / long term.

I see what everyone is saying about becoming an authority in the niche. For SEO to work you need a decent web presence + regular content updates. Right?

    Uh oh....LOL.

You are getting solid practical marketing tips here Daddy Waffle but.....address the feelings fueling these personal issues now or else, since the feelings are still in you, said emotions will affect your affiliate business. Guaranteed. Fear is like that buddy; sneaks up and screws up anything you touch because you may avoid the people who trigger the fear, but it is still inside of you.

My suggestions; meditation, deep yin yoga, and some deep contemplation in a quiet room.

As you begin to explore, feel and release these pains and fears, your affiliate growth will accelerate, being unburdened by this stuff.

Hi Ryan, Thanks for the advice. In my OP I am asking for advice about the business plan, not so much for the personal stuff. I do appreciate you reaching out.

  • Which niche are you looking to specialize in? Dog training, golf equipment, premenstrual stress, Facebook advertising?

Picking an affiliate product to start an online business can be setting yourself up to fail.

Pick a niche first and build your sales funnels around your niche
