Hello everyone nice to meet you. I have know about affiliate marketing for a very long time but did not have the income to try anything. All of this all seems so overwhelming and like a rabbit hole with no end to me.

I have some of the puzzle but im having trouble putting it together. Im not insane I know im not gonna get rich over night. Im just trying to make 400-800$ extra a month......but that seems so far away lol.

I just dont know where to start. So I was wondering where you guys started? How did you make your first dollar affiliate marketing? What methods did you use? Did it cost a arm and a leg? Thanks for your time.

Choose a niche that interests you, that has a fairly sizeable amount of people who need to solve a particular problem... and build an email list in order to help those people.

Share good stuff with them, and recommend products that will benefit them.

    Don't overthink it.

How though? What ways do I build a email list? Everything I read makes it sound so hard getting traffic to any site or page.

Check out this guy Anik Singal. he has a book called The Circle Of Profit it explains how to start and walks you through how to build you list. google it and you will see his website and how he builds his list through selling his books with funnel/landing pages.

Get a good platform, create content.

GET OUT THERE! People will buy from people, and if you're doing affiliate marketing, you'll eventually want people to like you.

Otherwise, you can do stuff like view jacking, where you create videos on youtube and add your link to it. That also works.

It takes a long time but it's doable

Follow simple practical tips helps Gama, but why? Why are you interested in affiliate marketing?

Think beyond 400-800 a month buddy. Dollar drivers are OK but find the deeper, stronger emotions pulling you toward this niche. Think of fun, freeing reasons. Pick a niche you feel passionate about. If you get clear on a freeing driver you follow sound practical tips persistently, laying the foundation for a successful career.

So, you seem to already have a direction of your own, fine.

Now, why don't you tell us what you want to accomplish, what are the pieces of "the puzzle" that you are "having trouble" to put together and why, what's the outcome, the results?

Why would anyone else waste time telling you how they started, there are a million of ways, if it would NOT relate to you and what you want to accomplish.

YOU ASKED "where to start?" so give first and thou shall receive...

    Regards,
    Andy

Choose 1 of 3 roads and focus on it.
    1. Google.
    2. Youtube.
    3. Facebook.

Example... you want to go with number 3. FB.
Then start to learn affiliate marketing that related to FB only.
Practice and make many test. Go back to the handbooks again and practice and make the test again.
When you do it everyday... you'll soon know and find your own way.
After you feel comfortable then you can expand your knowledge with the other way.

First get yourself a landing page and autoresponder, secondly a decent offer - clickbank.com

I'd suggest the online business / make money online niche, easy to get into, easy to get traffic etc.

Build a landing page, send traffic and build your list while broadcasting different offers. It's simple, people just give up after buying 100 clicks of traffic lol.

Has this method worked for you? And should I build from ground up or is something like click funnels better?

  • If you have no budget, there are many free traffic methods available and you just need to invest more time to get your first sales. You need to take action and try one thing at a time in order to make it happen.

  • The truth is that you can get 1000 different answers on your question and they will just create confusion in your head.

Best advice is to find a mentor you trust, invest some money and let him decide what's the best way to go for your interests and personality, and create a plan to follow.

I know it's not for free, but that's the best way to start without wasting time trying different methods.

    Hello Guys,
First thing first is identify the Niche you are more passionate about,
    Build your keyword list ,
Build your website or squeeze page and make sure you insert your niche-keywords on your website or page. Join affiliate networks such as Clickbank.com, peerfly.com
Then promote your website or squeeze page.

You need to invest time and effort in studying blogs, courses, videos, free or paid, to learn the basics of affiliate marketing.

In a nutshell, you need to have a website, blog, landing page and generate traffic.

If you build a website, you can learn SEO to get freetraffic and also activelly promote your website.

You can find free landing page creators and create a free landing page also, to capture the email addresses in return for a freebie (plr books or videos for instance) and also to pre-sell some affiliate offer.

It's impossible to write all the steps in detail in a forum reply.

You have to get a mentor or study sme affiliate courses.
The small, cheap courses only tell you part of the processes involved.

If you wish I can send you some information on how to learn how to get started.

  • I would do some research on which niches are profitable. Hopefully you find one that you like and than niche down so the competition is low.

The only real money you may have to put up each month is for an autoresponder to obtain email and communicate with you list. This can be as low as $15 an month.

Next, pick a platform and stick with just one. I would suggest a blog or YouTube. Promote products along with giving helpful information away as well. Work on consistently putting out content weekly and give it time.

    Hey There,

My first make money online activities were review vids on YouTube

    1. Find products to promote and get approved for them.
You can find these offers on ClickBank, JVZoo, Warrior Plus. Clickbank would be the easiest to get approved as an affiliate for a product. If you go JVZoo or WarriorPlus just be upfront about your advertising tactics.

    2. Create The Review Vid

You want to state the product name,

Show proof, if any, from the sales page,

State a flaw you may have found with the product, and offer your personalized bonus fixing that issue.

Have a call to action at the end of your video to click that link in the description to go to that offer

Finally, optimize your video description with your affiliate link included

For Traffic; post your video link on all major social media sites; such as Facebook and Instagram.

    Hope this helps you.

Question what do you mean by approved for the offer? On clickbank you just promote right?

Choose a niche you are interested in. Then find a way to monetize from it. Whether that is selling goods, services, or writing a blog or You Tube Videos. You can do affiliate marketing, e-commerce, eBay, Amazon, Etsy, email marketing, sell on Fiverr or Fourerr. Find something you are interested in then the money will come. You have to be passionate about your work.

I started with Google Adwords (PPC) and some offers from Copeac (an old network which is no longer around) and direct linking.

These days, I wouldn't recommend using Google Adwords as a starting point and direct linking isn't a good idea either.

I would start by picking a traffic source (ppc, ppv, facebook ads, etc). Then learn more about that traffic source, then select an offer that is working well with that traffic source and started testing.

Don't get stuck in "research" mode for too long or else you won't ever take action. Taking action is what will help you learn the most.

      Hello,

How can you tell if an offer is working well with a traffic source like FB?

    1. Decide your niche. Do this through research. Is it one that the market - a) wants and needs answers or solutions to, and b) is willing to spend money getting those answers?
    2. Decide your plan of action. Is your objective to create your own products, or promote others in that niche?
    3. Create your funnel. Think not just in terms of your initial "freebie" you will create to get people to subscribe to your list (or the one the vendor offers as a way to get others to view their offer). Think in terms of back-end offers, as well. What are you going to promote to others after they've viewed the initial offer? It helps to have a funnel of additional, more high-end offers, as well as a way to continue to promote to them through an email list.
    4. Get a domain name - applicable to the offer you are promoting.
    5. You've mapped out your funnel. Now create it: initial squeeze page, redirects, etc.
    5. Send traffic via backlinks - blogging etc - self-promotion, start a podcast an offer advice on the topic, article marketing, YT vids, etc - There are literally hundreds of different ways to promote what you have to offer. But remember provide value first, as a way to get others interested in what else you have that may be of help to them. (Random spamming just wastes your time, and theirs)

    6. Rinse & repeat.

I mention these steps in this specific order because I think a lot of people tend to do it "out of order". I know I used to. (i.e. - Setting up a website without a backend; creating a product without doing the market research for need beforehand, etc.) It's almost like you have to think of the steps in order, but complete many of them backward.

Did I take a wrong turn and wind up in a church?

Yeah, give some money to an advertising platform and receive some targeted traffic.

WARNING - Listening to "lighter-than-air, wannabee-gurus" can be hazardous to your chances of success.
