Starting out with online marketing

Hello!

I'm thinking about helping out a few local businesses with their online advertising, mainly Facebook, the main goal will obviously be to drive more customers into their stores. I've been doing a bit of marketing for my family's business for the past few years and have done a few courses on social media marketing in the process.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get started? I've started designing my own website and plan on contacting people directly to see if they'd be interested but I've not done much with this so need a few tips!

  • Hi Lana, once you have contacted your prospects, remember to show them the success you have achieved promoting your family's business.

It's easier to get clients, when they see that you already have a proven track record, driving traffic to increasing likes and subscribers to your social media platforms.

Create a Professional Lander and run few ads on Adwords and on Facebook. You will start getting some leads from it which can become your clients.

Your business website needs to be professional and have verifiable proofs so potentials clients can trust you.

Identify a target market you want to help and feel comfortable talking to...and start talking with them.

Nearly everyone in this forum is "getting ready to get ready."

    Get started. Begin having conversations.

    You don't need a website.

    You don't need proof.

The quality of your questions will demonstrate your knowledge level to the prospect.

Sort for prospects who already understand and believe they need digital marketing. Don't waste energy trying to convince people who don't want it that they need it. Politely disengage and move on.

Have a dozen conversations with business owners who recognize they need digital marketing help and I guarantee you'll learn a lot. You'll learn how they talk, what words they use--and those can be repeated to new prospects you encounter to demonstrate you're 'in the know.' That'll help you begin conversations faster and more effectively.

Yes, you're going to have to TALK TO PEOPLE. And no amount of hiding behind a website has ever done anything for anyone.

Stop worrying about your credibility and go out there and have conversations. Qualify prospects. Get a dozen good conversations under your belt and you'll be surprised just how far they take you.

Get the businesses listed on all local directories, use Instagram create hash tags, gain tons of followers. Post on all free classifieds Craigslist and Backpage, etc.

I've informed you on 3 different posts that Backpage is no longer in business, but you still refer people to it. Why do you continue to do that?

      Just curious, is all.

    Referrals, referrals, referrals.
You might even use the trick of offering your service free for the first time to a business, in exchange for a testimonial.
Those testimonials can be used to show others locally what you can do.
Even more could go on your website.
Your website could eventually be used to attract other clients for local small business advertising services, including clients who aren't necessarily in your area.

What's the plan, are you going to charge for your service? How are you planning on helping them? Sorry, there's too many questions to really answer at this point.

    What experience do you have??

A few months ago I had compression socks shipped in from China. I did my sourcing. Found a manufacturer who spoke good English. I told her exactly what I wanted. We went back and forth a few times regarding the price, and finally came to an agreement. I've put up a wix website for the Socks that leads the person to Amazon where I'm a seller. The product is there with description, images, keywords and the works. My issue is getting my target audience to my site. I'm literally still trying to figure out how to get people to the site then to Amazon to purchase. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
