I want to make money online, but where do I start?

I'm looking for the best place to start building an online revenue, but I don't know which is the best option to start with. I've been looking at a ton of possible starting points, such as starting a blog with affiliate marketing, YouTube, e-book writing, Fiverr selling, e-commerce through drop-shipping, and Amazon FBA. The problem I'm encountering is deciding which one to start with, or which are even worth the time commitment.

The question I ask is based off your own experience, which of these options is the best place to start building revenue quickly? I'm not expecting to make thousands within a week, but my logic is the quicker I can make a profit from one of these online revenues, the more I'll have to reinvest back into that income stream or even diversify by starting up on another one of these options.

Any advice is greatly appreciated, and I thank you in advance for your consideration of my question.

There are no quick solutions, my friend. You're asking the question backwards.

Alll of those methods can make you money in varying ways, depending how you angle yourself, what niche you're in and what value you can bring.

Those are the questions you should be asking, not "how do i make money really quickly?"

Do some research and evaluate your skills. Look at different niches and see if you can spot an opportunitiy. Finally look at the different monetisation strategies people have used in that niche and see how you can implement them to reach an audience and make an income.

    Good luck

Very sound advice. I've done pretty much all of them and it's pretty obvious what I prefer, but everyone is different and has different skill sets.

I would like to state that there definitely are ways to make money very quickly but like most things in life, it takes money to make money using those methods. One such example would be true arbitrage, where you buy a whole lot of something when it is on a major sale and then wait a month, when the price goes back to normal, and then start selling those items you purchased at a few dollars off the normal price on Amazon or eBay. Do you have the money to buy a hundred or so of those things and then wait for the cash to start flowing in over the next month or two? Not everyone does.

Find something you know about... something you either are interested in or passionate about.

Make sure it's something in a niche that's already selling (health, wealth, fitness, dating, relationships)

Write up a free report that offers a solution to a problem that a lot of people have in that
    market.

If you know how to meet and date other people easier, write a report on that. If you know how to lose weight faster, write a report on that.

Just write out a report that solves a major problem in people's lives, and offer it
for free on Facebook, Bing, Youtube, Google, etc...

Offer it in exchange for an email address.. .and then use email to build
a relationship that is all about offering them value and helping them
    out.

Then, once you've built up that relationship, soft sell them affiliate
    products.

But make sure it's something you trust, something you know will help
    others.

Let's say you've been through a divorce and figured out a few
things along the way that could possibly help other couples to
    stay together.

Write up a free report that has valuable info on how people
can save their marriage and stay together.

Offer it for free, on one of the paid traffic or search engine
    sources.

Get email addresses in exchange, and then using email..
continue offering good advice and insight how they can
    save their marriage.

After a day or so of emailing valuable info, soft sell them on
a program that you become an affiliate for.

You can find them on Clickbank or other affiliate resource
    sites.

Use your affiliate link in the free report and in your emails.

Then, rinse and repeat as much as you can... over time branching
off into helping them improve other areas of their lives.

Bottom line, if you can serve others and help out a large group
of people to solve a major life problem, you can grow an amazing
    business doing that.

You just have to be true in your abilities and confident in your
    marketing.

Hi. For me, the easiest way to start generating income was through the creation of my first blog (this is based on my own experience). At first, I started as a hobby and after receiving many visits, it occurred to me to start earning money with him.

Since I liked finances in my blog, I talked about finances. But after a while, I had to write in the blog in a professional way. Moreover, that is where the difference in making money with a blog is. You must create a professional blog. You must create a business.

Blogs do not give money, business does.

The blogs themselves do not give money or give very little compared to the effort required to get it.

What really gives money is to create a business and use the blog as a platform to promote products or services.

Build a business around your blog, using one of the online money making systems that I applied, and the money will start to flow into your pockets. Now, be prepared to work hard if you want this to work.

    1. You must create a list of subscribers
    2. Promote affiliate products
    3. Sell your own products (This option is the most profitable for me)
Bonus 1: get affiliates to sell your digital products
Bonus 2: Turn your offline activities into digital products
    4. Offer your services as a consultant
    5. Search for sponsors and collect a fee for advertising on your blog
    6. Offer to give talks at events and conferences
    7. Offer your services as a freelancer
    8. Offer your services as a personal teacher
    9. Create an online course via email or membership site
    10. Perform a Webinar
11 Create Launches of digital products

    Take Action

Once you apply these points to your business, you will have to put it into practice.

You will have to work hard to get visits to your professional blog (your business).

What do you think? Do you know any better way to make money with a blog? What are your personal experiences? Leave your comment.

Thank you to everyone who responded. I think I have a better understanding on what I should focus on now. Crackhouse made a fair point about this post. I shouldn't base what I start on by how quickly I can make a profit, but on how well I can leverage a niche I'm passionate about. Learning from the business models of others in that niche will help increase my ability to be successful in that niche as well.

Ryan echoed this advice by essentially saying that it's not WHAT you do that makes money online, but rather how passionate you are about the subject you work on. In a sense, this can mean that Passion = Profits; and I feel that I've heard this sentiment from many other successful people as well.

To Dave's point, unfortunately I don't have a ton of money to pour into my online ventures, but probably enough to get start. It seems to be true when they say 'you have to spend money to make money,' even in this internet age.

As to Shawn and Damian's posts, it's really helpful advice. There are a few blog ideas that I had in mind, and I feel your info regarding how to make it work as a profitable business model will be invaluable. It seems an email list or subscription model of some kind is essential when branching to soft sales, affiliate marketing, and personal product sales. Of course, the success of these sales is linked to your authority on the blog's subject and how much value the products lend to your audience. I'm sure people on the email list would get sick of endless product promotions that are either unrelated to there interests or are not useful to them.

I've learned a ton of applicable information for going forward with my online ventures. I plan to evaluate what niche I should pursue that align with my passions and apply it to one of the business models I've looked into.

Hope for a profitable follow up from O.P.

He is very very analytical in a positive way but my advice is to SELL SOMETHING. Anything. Quickly. Or CPA offers you not selling but you are generating leads. Once you do that feeling will carry you. It will make you learn more and it will make you want to experience that feeling again and again.

Passion is relative. We got to give them what they want...not so much we we want them to have.

I once saw a Video for sale on eBay many years ago of planes landing. That's all it was and it was selling. It made me scratch my head but at the same time it opened my eyes to the fact that it's all types of markets out there.

We really have to sit in the other chair of the consumer and if we see them get fired up and passionate then that sparks my passion...to satisfy them.

Many in lucrative Golf niche because they spend money. Into Bullfights? I am not quite sure.

I've been promoting affiliate / CPA offers for 18 years.

    offers for almost 18 years.

However, I do thing a bit different than most.

I heavily promote PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers. This is because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them, as they have overall worked the best. They also tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a large general audience), so the potential exists to produce high volume and they are fairly easy to cross promote on the back-end.

Some of the verticals (niches) I have done extremely well with are: education, insurance, loans, debt, credit, mortgage, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

The bulk of the PPL offers that I promote pay $20-$40 per lead, but I also promote offers that pay more and less. You don't want to get too caught up on what an offer pays because how well it converts is just as important. For example, if you have an offer that pays $9, but if it converts at 2X or more of a $20 offer, then it will perform about the same or possibly better. At the same time, if you have an offer that pays $90 and it converts poorly, it may not even be worth promoting.

I have also done just as good with dating website sign-ups and pretty good with free trial + S/H offers. I also promote a very limited number of offers that are straight sales. For them, mass appeal is still the number one thing I look for and I also look for one of the following...

    1) The product is new and/or novel-unique and you can't purchase it locally or even something similar. I don't waste my time with it once something similar shows up in Walmart.

    2) The buyer can truly get what is being offered at a decent discount.

    3) Solves a house is on fire type problem.

However, I mainly promote non-PPL offers on the backend.

Bottom line, it's far easier to get someone fill out a short form than to get them to pull out their credit card and make a purchase. So why struggle with trying to sell this or that, when you can provide free information that users want/need and get paid well doing it.

    Something to think about.

Personally I'm a fan of affiliate marketing. It's a relatively low barrier of entry, you don't need to worry about having product/inventory. The tech aspect is taken care of mostly with tools.

Now a days affiliate marketing is just about putting in the work, testing, getting the date and optimizing.

I got serious with Affiliate marketing about 5 months ago, but I was introduced to affiliate/CPA Marketing 2016.

Once I got some free training and guidance from a successful online marketer I stuck with learning.

However, I now focus on email marketing and using affiliate marketing as a secondary option to bring in more income!

BTW, my focusing skills suck for now so it's taking a bit longer to get some traction.

The great news is I have everything I need... including people I can ask for help who are getting results.

Go into something you have a passion in. No matter what it is. Do not chase money because you will never catch it. Money can run very fast. So My advice is example if you like affiliate marketing like myself. 1 before you do anything find out as much as you can about affiliate marketing.
2 find out how others are finding good products to purchase.
3 find out how people are promoting that product.
4 This is what is going to give you the winning edge Do a better offer then the others and give advise not sell. Refer people back to your facebook page for answers build your page with content and link to others in the same field It will make your business
Golden rule remember it is internet marketing not internet selling Give advise. it is better if you say YEs I understand your pain I also had problem but I found this product. (link). it is better then. buy my stuff

    Hope it helps

  • The two ways I would suggest is either self publishing or affiliate marketing through YouTube/Email Marketing.

I still think, self publishing is a business you can grow the fastest. However, the self publishing industry is pretty congested with garbage. If you are going to go this route you need to do it the right way and not the easiest/quickest.

Affiliate marketing is very helpful and you learn many skills you can apply throughout a lifetime. It just takes a little longer to scale up than self publishing. I also believe you can make more using this online business.

    1. e-bay : once you get accustomed to the way it works you can make some real money , just be sure to know the costs of shipping etc. I'm completely sure you have things in your house that you can sell and you don't really need.Just make sure you specify any flaws etc. in your posts and be as much descriptive as possible.

2.TranscribeMe (site) : You basically transcribe text by listening to parts of recordings.I'm in the process yet but it's legit. You have to first get accustomed to the way you need to transcribe speech to text by reading their guidelines. If you pass the exams you are good to go. You may be able to transcribe text from multiple languages so being multilingual is a bonus. Don't expect to become rich by it but it's a good start. There are also other transcription sites.

    3. Tutoring sites : Cheg, schoolsolver.I would recommend them if you have any knowledge that you can pass on. Like math , physics , if you have some kind of degree or just know a subject really well. check them out. Fiver is very similar in this way, as you have to have a particular skill that you identify really well and what you actually missing are customers. So these are a little more specialized.

4.Cryptocurrencies: It seems this technlogy is here to stay, and you might need to join the game as early as possible. You can perhaps mine less known coins right now and trade them for bitcoins , or ether or any coin(s) you think will prevail finally. Also you can try to predict their ups and downs and try to sell on their highs and buy on their lows. Alternatively you can search for lists of faucet sites that give you free btc or Ltc (these amounts are small but might get significant in the future if cryptos' values go up).

5.squadhelp: Finally here you use your creativity to enter naming competitions for companies , or any business actually. Rewards start at 100$ but you have to really use your brain and creativity for this one (try to be have a keen mind). I'm in the process with this one myself.

Ok The 64 thousands $ question. you want to make money. To be honest the reason I have picked your post to answer is because I have sold over 650 gigs on fiverr and also Make a good income in my retirement in affiliate marketing. I even took a course on video marketing. So I use 3 methods of income.
Now and again I make my own product to help others in problems and give them away with links. So lets start. Fiverr you can make money on fiverr but it was not that easy to start so I would not start with fiverr at the moment. Affiliate marketing is the easiest way to make money online as long as you understand how affiliate marketing works. Because so many get into it many do not last long. Myself found art hard to start but My passion was in Affiliate marketing I kept with it and not only spent many hours in the beginning. I learned as must as I could and then and only when I understood how th system works I started to sell. Then I joined Automated Commission Enterprise and also 7 Figure Franchise. the rest is history. Whatever path you choose it is likely that multiple paths will cross at some point. The thing about IM is that there is usually a steep learning curve and it is something that you will have to accept.

Yes of course somebody can teach you within a few days how to make a few dollars, but that is never usually a viable long term strategy, simply because, everybody's situation is unique and there are so many variables in building a solid foundation to long term stable earnings.

The problems is that after reading an ebook and not earning $1000's within a few weeks most people give up and then move on to the next fad and then spend years like this going round in circles.

Therefore if you can accept and be realistic in that there is a learning curve, I recommend choosing one method of affiliate marketing and spending a few months mastering it. If you do that, you will be ahead of so many others in the game.

The simplest way to get started making money on the internet is selling through Ecommerce, you can start selling items on Ebay and Amazon that you might have around your house collecting dust. You can also dive into Arbitrage by going into Retail stores' Clerance sections and scanning the on sale items to see what they are selling for on Ebay and Amazon. You can also do Arbitrage Online. Another route is to sell on Craigslist, Offer Up, Let Go, and Mercari. Buy cheap sell high, look to make a 40% or more profit. You can source from wholesalers like Alibaba as well.

I agree with the previous posters, but I might add that the problem with drop shipping a lot of the time is that the websites, such as Alibaba, are slow to ship. So if there's something wrong with the product and the customer wants to return it, they're less likely to be satisfied because the shipping takes so long.

The best way is to join a high ticket affiliate program, Then build your foundation ( blog, youtube channel ).

Then start providing value to the market through content marketing, The one reason that people don't make money is that because they are not valuable enough to the market, so the key is to be valuable to the people, If you become valuable then the money will comes to you.

The main thing is to find yourself in the niche in which the work will bring you joy, because the process of making money is not at all quick (especially big money). You should be patient and examine all these sites that you have been advised.

  • The most important thing you will have to learn is how to get traffic to your website(s). Without decent traffic, most online projects will fail and not generate significant money, if at all.

Yes, when I first started, I was selling software on eBay, then moved on to creating my own digital products to sell through my own ways.

List-building should be your #1 asset and you begin building your email list within a particular niche. So do your niche research, then start building your list.

With all the options you gave, and not a lot of income to spend on adds, self publishing is the way to go. It's the only business were you can scale up as quickly as you want.

It's the only business you can spend money on and not get some sort of return. Most businesses you have to spend money on ads to grow quickly.

There are not many people who can grow a business to $1K-$2K-$3K an month just after a few months.

As someone who has tried pretty much all of those things, I'd say the best advice I could give you would be to choose ONE.

Just pick the one thing you think you would enjoy doing the most....and go with that. Never change your mind until it works. The moment you do, then you'll just start jumping from one thing to the next without breaking through. So just choose one thing and run with it.

Any of those methods can make you a millionaire if you work hard enough.

  • Interesting thread - i have been researching for quite a while about how to make money online and have a lot of ideas. Sometimes it gets overwhelming where to start but i think you can research for too long, i think a very good strategy would be to JUST START - and figure it out as you go.

A better strategy is to have at least a semblance of a plan, lest you waste a lot of time and money 'discovering' things that you might have learned can impede your progress through a little basic research.

Flying blind usually results in 'crash and burn.' That's no way to launch anything.

The Best part is that you already explore alot of ways which is a plus point!

before saying anything or recommending anything you need to understand that fields or the path is super depending on person to person, First, you need to know which type of priorities you have and most importantly what you love to do!

let me share my Story! (In short)

when I started out I have the same problem having alot of information but don't know where to go so I get with the lowest hanging fruit and because I started quite early in my 15's I have alot time and no responsibilities so I explore ppc where you get money via clicking ads, survey... then I graduated in experience and learn affiliate marketing and e-commerce!

Just Previous year in a matter of 5 starting month I able to make half a million is sells just because I know where I am what I can and can't do... for the record I choose the production method, not the dropshipping one!

Affiliate Marketing, E-commerce, Blogging, YouTube, Vlogging whatever its al about you the best you can do is find a way to do ALL!

because Affiliate Marketing is attached to YouTube, Blogging easily so to E-commerce with YouTube! find a way to do all together and leave what not interested!

and yes be discipline maybe you don't have enough time to do all, use it as a Plug you put one and then used to it and gradually increase!

PS: There are many options but there is some path you can start just right today start from there, and BE CONSISTENT in whatever you do!

    BEST OF LUCK!

Great comments here (and a lot of sound advice).

I've also struggled with having so many options to choose from. The problem is that most things that time.
    For example:
With blogging it takes time for your articles to get indexed in google and receive any sort of traffic. You can however use the Google Trends tool to find out what is popular and being searched in the web.
Youtube may be a great idea if you make review videos on new product releases that should get you some traffic.
Amazon FBA can be really profitable but it takes some capital to start. From what I've heard you should have around 2-3k to invest.

I've been doubling down on affiliate marketing since I like the fact that you don't have to do any customer support, you just get a kickback from referring people to products that they already want to buy. I also like the profit margins on affiliate marking.

I believe you already have done your research and i also assume that you already know or have a feel what you wanna do. But still there are pros and cons. From my experience i would like to suggest you to give a try at dropshhipping but not like the nobs are doing. Study, man plan, make everything 100% about what and how you are going to do. From my point of view these are the reason makes me to vote for dropshipping :

    1. A Broad Product Offering
    2. Reduce Your Investment &
    3. Explore New Lines

Before i finish best of luck on what ever you are doing. Be in the flow of learning.

    Good Luck

The most common suggestion on this forum is telling people to do, what they themselves are doing. The saddest part, generally, it's something that they themselves are failing at.

Drop shipping is just one of a thousand ways to MMOL. It's no better or worse than any other (except blogging, which is the worst for actually making any money), depending upon someone's interests, innate abilities and time horizon

Just a dose of reality, to start your day..

You can do affiliate marketing. To generate traffic, you can do paid advertising or free advertising.

Considering you mentioned that you wanted the best way to start building revenue quickly, the quickest way to get traffic is going to be paid advertising. It is also the quickest way to lose your money if not properly done.
