What are the Best Guidelines and Criteria for Posting on Warrior Forum?

Hello,

For those who are experienced using this forum, what are your best suggestions for creating valuable posts that supply informative information along with valid questions?

In addition to this, there is a lot of valuable information that can be shared from external sites.

What is the best method for sharing this info, and what are the guidelines for sharing external links, even ones that aren't promoting, but merely sharing knowledge from other sources?

    there is a lot of valuable information that can be shared from external sites.

    This is not a curation site so posting articles or info from other sites is usually not acceptable. If it's online, others have access to the same info.



    Read the forum rules - learn to use the search function to find relevant threads - when you ask questions make them specific rather than too broad. If your question is "how do I start to do this...and this...and built that..and..." few members are going to spend time writing a full instruction manual when they know the info is already posted here.


    I know it's frustrating to write out a post and then have it rejected - but it's a matter of understanding the site you've joined and looking through enough threads to get a feel for how things work.

    You'll be fine - take some time and settle in and start reading...after 20 years online, not much about IM that hasn't been discussed on this forum.

      Kay, thank you for your response!

      I am beginning to understand now that posting relevant info from other pages online is generally forbidden here.

      However, I have noticed many others who are doing it.

      For instance (and hopefully this will be accepted), in this post, there is a link halfway through that is obviously promoting another page:

      I've noticed others similar to this as well, and I am curious how one should go about posting external links such as this. Is there a certain reputation level that must be acquired first?

      I'm just trying to get a feel for how to be effective and create synergistic knowledge/value exchange on this forum.....because I believe using external links occasionally would actually be a valuable way to share information in some cases.

      Curious your feedback.

    That's easy.
    Pay attention to what members are posting and learn how to separate
    'posts counts' from 'real mccoy', be original, be well informed and never
    repeat some dumbasses posts.

      Yes, I understand that, but through my searches here so far, I will often find a post related to the question I want to ask, but there is one or more subtle differences in what I want answered that truly require a new variation of the question.

      Is it considered bad etiquette to create a "fresh" thread to better target your issue?

        Don't try to reinvent the wheel or look for ways around the rules to buck the system. You're new, here. Just blend in until you get the feel of things without making waves.

        And whatever you do, don't follow my lead. I don't set a very good example.

          Cool, I see...so, I'm definitely starting to get a feel so far...wasn't what I expected, but always refreshing and exciting to try new things, meet new people, and see how different communities carry themselves :-{)}

            Also, please learn to use the 'Quote' function so when responses grow in number, we know who you are responding to. You don't need to quote the entire post. Just the relevant text that you are responding to. It makes the forum less cluttered.

              This is testing...and I appreciate your tips...quicker I can learn the better!

              Do you enclose only the text like I have above...or do you need to include the user name as well?

                If you use the 'Quote" button, it automatically includes the person's name. That's the main purpose. If you just quote a snippet of text, someone not following the conversation from its inception would need to hunt for it in order to know whom you are quoting.

      C'mon, Kay. I see posts each and every day that proves that people rarely take time to even read the OP's post and take a minute to digest it and create a relevant response, before commenting.
