Measuring Trade Show Success

I am the Marketing Director of a SaaS company and I was curious as to how everyone measures the success of a trade show?

Do you go solely on new business or determine it with other factors such as meeting current customers, branding opportunities, etc.?

If you're the Marketing Director, it's up to you to set the criteria for the success of your company's promotions.

What does it matter how anyone else judges it?

When I see questions like this, I wonder how these companies manage to stay in business. They're downright embarrassing, especially from someone billing themselves as a, "Marketing Director."

Gosh! He could be as well be the founder/financier of the company and winging it as the marketing director. No need to be harsh!

Had a stint in China and found out that a lot of digital marketing agencies were headed by people who knew less about the space!

It's called learning on the job! That's why he's asking that question..... and i think he has his answers - he's just curious to see what somebody else thinks....

      cheers

A CEO too cheap to not hire an experienced marketing director. lol Priceless.

That demands much more than harshness, if it's actually the case. Of course, you pulled that scenario out of your butt, so it's irrelevant. It seems a bit of ridicule is in order. Stop defending insanity. You're not helping anyone, at all.

Yes - there a loads of idiots in China, too. What's your point?

And I told him precisely what I think. Sorry that you didn't agree with my response, but that's life.

Thank you for your comments and critiques.

I have been managing the marketing dept. for almost a year now and it's a small company. So I am a one-man show. I have a set plan in place for establishing goals and measuring success; however, I have learned from other marketers that they may have different goals in place for these things. So I just wanted to pick other marketer's brains to see how they measure success.
