Combining multiple business models within the same business

I have never heard of anyone doing this so I thought I'd ask. Everyone seems to focus on one business model, like they do email marketing with affiliate promotions and maybe their own products too. Or they build a website with all their content in one place. Or they have a YouTube channel where they talk about their niche. Or they have a blog and post updates on FB, Twitter and Pinterest. Or they write eBooks. Or they sell online courses.

Could someone do all of those within the same business? Aside from it being a massive amount of work, what other reasons are there for it not being possible? Is it wrong/immoral/illegal to post the same content everywhere? I'm only slightly familiar with black hat tactics and I think I read that even posting duplicate content in more than one place is considered black hat, but why isn't it allowed when you own all the content?

Well, this is what, now - your third go 'round? You haven't managed to do one thing of the dozens and dozens of suggestions you received the last time you were looking to start something, but now you want to know about doing everything under the sun, all at once.

When does the dreaming end and the reality of doing the hard work, begin?

    Good luck.

Well thanks for not answering my question...but I'll answer yours; I've already started, I just need to know which ones I can do simultaneously before I can proceed.

Why not do one to the absolute best of your ability in order to increase your chances of success? The best way to approach an online career is not going to be any different for you than it will be for anyone, else.

Focus, focus, focus. Become a master of one thing rather than a jack of all trades.

The reason I did not make any attempt to answer your questions, is because doing so would not have actually done anything to truly help you. Though you'll never accept the point, my heart was in the right place.

With that being said, I won't engage you in this thread. I've learned from your past behavior that you get some kind of perverse satisfaction from sucking people into a web of continuous and fruitless banter, rooted in a peculiar type of neediness. I can't join you in that, but there will be others who will be more than happy to play along.

        Fool me once . . . . . . . .

Well obviously I would do one at a time. But it makes no sense to set up an email marketing business and then twiddle my thumbs for the rest of the day when I could do something else to get the momentum going stronger. I don't have a job so I literally have 18 hours a day to work on this.

Focus, focus, focus. Become a master of one thing rather than a jack of all trades.
Well I am focusing on one topic, that was the hard part to narrow down for me because I have about 20 things I am passionate about. I just feel like it's leaving money on the table if I have the same information but only sharing it in one platform rather than 5 or 6. I will have the same content, just sharing it in a different way.

The "banter" was never "fruitless", it was a learning experience/conversation for me.
I don't need this to get lengthy, I just wanted a simple answer whether or not it was legal/permissible to post the same content in each platform if you own the content.

You make me smile because you are asking the Luke Skywalkers a Dark Vader Question. Of course we will tell you to resist the Dark Side.

Why even take a chance of working hard only to get penalized?

    3 Myths About Duplicate Content

Now re-purposing content is different. Turning blog posts into PDFs and sharing on File sharing sites for example is smart in my opinion.

Thanks for that link! It looks like it will answer my question!

And I think re-purposing is a better word for what I was wanting to do. That is exactly what I was going to do is use the same information in different formats on different platforms. I would probably even change the wording in some places to fit the platform.

I will not be posting duplicate content on my site, I will be taking the content and putting it on different platforms altogether. A more specific example would be; using the same information in my courses I create as the information in my emails to my subscribers. Not worded the same way, but generally the same information. Also writing an article and posting it on my website and then also creating a FB post about it (just sharing it, not rewriting it). And making slide show videos for YouTube with some of the same information that is in my courses. That is what I mean. Are all those things ok to do?

Well, I think it should work. Duplicate content is not always bad if we value the sources of the articles.

I wasn't planning on taking content straight from a source and then copying and pasting it, I was going to write it all myself, or start with PLR content and rewrite it from there. Any duplicate content I share will only be duplicated from MY original writing. That is where my question came in whether or not it is ok to share the same content in different places IF it is all your content.

    Hi Gaia,

To answer your question buddy: the world loves specialists and do not trust generalists.

If you give 40 minutes daily to blogging, among other business models, and I give 14 hours to blogging, solely, 100% of the time, people follow my blog and buy my stuff. My business grows while your does not, because you are a generalist doing OK or poor in many areas, and I specialize.

    So....there ya go

Do 1 thing buddy. Do it well. You have not enough lifetimes to do 2 or 5 or 10 things better than someone devoting their lives to doing 1 thing.

    Happy Specializing, G

I normally agree, and most people don't even have the time to do that much anyway. But I have 16 hours a day to work on this so I could technically work on each platform for 3 hours a day and become a specialist in everything, lol

I would say concentrate on one niche to specialize in. But within that niche you can do a multitude of things.

If your niche is poodles you can write a blog post about "How to Keep Your Poodle Healthy" or "Should you Buy Health Insurance for your Poodle" or "How to Tell if Your Poodle is Psychic."

Then send an email saying, "I just posted on my blog about xxx. Click here to read the article."

You can then do a post in your poodle Facebook group linking to your new blog post.

Then do a Facebook live or YouTube video showing "How to groom a poodle" or "Teach Your Poodle to Dance the Tango."

When you've gathered enough information and research you can write an ebook to sell from your blog or website or on Amazon.

I don't really think of those as different business models, just different ways to reach your target audience - poodle owners.

Trying to do it all too quickly will leave you spread too thin. But many blog owners I know eventually work in many different areas. They know that some of their audience prefers to read and others prefer videos. Start with one.

Oh yes! This is exactly my plan! And I do have one niche and its in the health niche so it's one of the big 3, and my sub niche is specifically on holistic natural health so it's a narrow enough niche but yet wide enough to never run out of content. I have taken tons of classes and read tons of books and have notebooks full of my own notes to get my content from. I will most likely focus on building courses first since that will involve gathering all my information in one place so after that it will be easier to take bits from it and share them in other places.
