Help! My comments never post and are "awaiting moderation"

I'm a relatively new member here and I know that posts require mod approval but for every comment I post, I get an automatic message in my inbox saying that my comment was "marked as spam" and that it needs moderator approval before it posts.

Sometimes it's 2 days before my comment shows up, at which point it's relagated to a location at the bottom of the thread never to be read. The most recent comments I posted are going on 2 weeks of "awaiting approval" with no response to my help ticket.

I've never spammed anyone before and my comments are relevant and helpful so I'm not sure what gives. Maybe someone can shine some light on why this keeps happening and if there's some threshold I need to reach before I can just participate in the forum like a normal person instead of some bad child who's been thrown in timeout.

*Mods, I tried to post this in the support forum where it should be but apparently I am not allowed to post there so I'm posting in the beginner area instead.

Pretty much, the only way things are going to be marked as spam is if you link to something or you promote a website in some way.

Why would you care if something you post gets buried in the middle of a thread unless you were trying to get it seen (i.e. promoting something)?

This thread sure got posted, so it isn't like nothing you post ever makes it onto the forum!

Finally, I've been posting on this forum for far more years than I can remember and nothing I have ever posted in a thread has ever been marked as "waiting for moderator approval". It sounds like you need to review the forum rules.

A post made by the OP saying exactly the same thing as in this thread has been live since November 3rd:

Nope, never posted links or anything like that. Just a comment responding to the poster. I care that they get relegated because if I'm trying to participate here and I say something valuable and it takes a week to show up, 80 other people have said the same thing. Which makes it pointless for me to even take the time to post.

Dave, the fact that you've been around for years makes me think that there might be a new policy in place. I just commented on your reply and it went to mod approval for suspected spam. No links, no funny business, just me replying to you. Of course I care if people read what I contribute. Isn't that the whole point of a forum? Otherwise I'd just write in my diary hahahahaha

Almost everyone faces the issue. You can counter that by avoiding links on your post..

As a log time lurker and fairly recent poster, I have noticed the same thing here. The level of strictness of everything mentioned above seems to go up and down over the months/years, but the most important thing is trying to offer as much quality content as you can in each post.

From what I can gather, if your forum account has been around for awhile, you have a much better chance of your post being auto-approved (grandfathered in maybe??)

Or if it is a long weekend or a holiday, it might take longer to be approved also because hey, the mods are people too and need some time away from time to time hah Hmmm I wonder how many admins this site has anyways?
