Tips for niche selection and content production.

Hi, I'm a beginner here, who'd like to know if the niche I am about to get into has a real market or not. I've looked at other forums and this one seems to be the most valuable I've seen so far so i'll shoot my shot.

I have previous experience with shopify (although it was embarassingly unsuccessful), but this time I am building my own blog, that I'll grow to a full blown business in the next year. I've spent about a week now doing research on potential niche ideas and since I am really passionate about video games, movies and art, I wanted to dive into those niches.

I came up with the idea of creating a website about fantasy that encompasses games, movies and art. I'd write basic blog articles about :

- The best fantasy games of the year.
- Video game reviews (with affiliate links to buy those games)
- Artwork of concept artists in the fields with content around those.
- Cheat codes, tips trick about gameplay, etc.
And later on I could expand by making youtube videos, launcing a shopify store, etc. So basically it would be a gaming website centered around the theme of fantasy.

My question is, do you think this niche is too broad in the sense that I'll be competing with well established websites like IGN, and also, do you think the content I'll be writting is going to be compelling enough to generate traffic ? Is fantasy gaming even a thing ?

    he bottom line is this.. IF you have the passion - which translates to PERSPECTIVE, and the PATIENCE to play this out, over time YOU WILL succeed. Just keep your day job and day by day and probably year by year dedicate 3 4 hours a day, you will get there. SUCCESS on the internet is a GRIND - regardless of what anyone says or offers - that is what it is.

    I am more than guessing that your young ( Im 50 and old ) you have T I M E and lots of it. Gaming isn't going anywhere.. the passion and energy is only getting stronger. Jump on now and be glad you did a year from now... OR a year from now sit and think where you could have been had you started today!

    Passion is where it starts. Pick a niche you love working. Then it becomes easier to solve problems, to do market research and to create content too.

    And you'll do much better (go faster) if you bring your content to your targeted audience in video format as well. You can start with Youtube and Facebook (link/embed) for free until you can have your own video hosting. Good luck!

    I think you are on the right track my friend. Ever green and hot niche and you do not have to have the perfect plan you will know what to focus on as you see where your visitors are really clicking.

    I think the guys name was Peng Joon he started out selling Player guides on Clickbank and Now if not a Millionaire close to it.

    Bravo that you are choosing a niche you are passionate about!

    (Every beginner should read the above again!)


    With that said, you are still trying too hard to get it right. Just get started in the video game niche, and follow your passion as you build out your blog.

    Your content will naturally unfold in areas that you can provide unique value and perspectives, and there is an audience out there waiting for YOU.

    Please, stop mind f**king it!

    Fantasy gaming is a viable niche to choose. There is a market for it and people will always have an interest in gaming. I would recommend you start doing some keyword research to see what types of keywords you would like to target and rank for.

    Once you have your keywords, you will have a better idea of what to write your blog posts about.

    There are a bunch of paid keyword tools out there that I am sure you have already heard about that you can choose from. If you want to start with a free keyword tool, Neil Patel has one called Ubersuggest you can look up.

    A large percentage of the money I've made online has been from games.

    I sold WOW guides when the game was new. I also promoted "free to play" sign-ups via CPA.

    At its zenith my site promoted around 40 different guides for 20 or so games.

    The best fantasy games of the year.
    - Video game reviews (with affiliate links to buy those games)
    - Artwork of concept artists in the fields with content around those.
    - Cheat codes, tips trick about gameplay, etc.
    I suggest you pick one to start. If you get some traction you can always adjust later.

    I would start marketing on YT.
