By looking for information instead of sales pages for 'how to' products - by taking the time to asses your own skills and interests to choose a topic/niche/subject/etc you would be goot at or comfortable working in.


What do you do if you want to find a JOB? Do you randomly go from one place to another or do you target a certain type business - look for work in an area you have knowledge/experience in?

Look at what the marketers who are making money online are doing and do that. Take a look at how they are building their lists. How they are getting traffic to their websites. What are they doing that makes you buy?

Just like you in the beginning I was stuck buying product after product and not making anything work. After a chance encounter with a stranger I managed to focus my mind and started focusing on what I should be doing. It's only then I started to make money.

Don't do what they say, do what they do.

Many believe the larger the niche, the bigger the audience - and therefore, the more money you will make. These people are solely focused on traffic. They falsely believe that if there's more traffic to be had in a particular niche, they will inevitably make more money. The problem here is that with enough marketing experience, you will realize that the niche with the most traffic is very rarely a niche at all. More often than not, they are Industries. For example, "weight loss" is not a niche, it's a market - an industry, there's a big difference here.

Marketers that build a list in the weight loss Industry have a choice to promote a wide variety of products to their list, but the audience is vast in comparison to the many niches within the weight loss market itself.

A woman in her 60's is not looking for the same promotions as a young woman in her 20's in terms of body style, fitness levels and diet. There's no way you can target both demographics within the same email campaign. This is why I recommend that you narrow your audience down to specifics.

For example, targeting young males looking to get six pack abs is very specific and your campaigns can be laser targeted with a much higher response rate. Every promotional email you send out to this demographic will be 100% targeted, thus, you will not be alienating a portion of your list with every email promotion you send. It just makes sense, right?

So, with that in mind. Which would be better, the broad Industry or the targeted niche? Both can work well with enough experience over time, but I would argue that the tighter your focus on a specific audience, the much more responsive your list on a whole, will be.

Here's a couple of examples of Industries vs Niches...

Industry - Weight loss
Niche - Six pack abs

Industry - Relationships
Niche - Over 50's Dating

Either approach would yield results and earn you money, but you can surely see which one is easier to target. Yes?

I think number one is to focus on one area, it's easy to get lost in shiny object syndrome and get overloaded. Focus on one area and focus your learning and efforts in that area. From there you should be able to weed out the BS and find the good info.

I did go through a pile of crap, Sorry marketers. In that point, I thought I can learn something from that, bs.

These days you are lucky. Technology has improved a lot and you have tools available that were not here before.

For example, you can use free MailChimp account and landing pages to send people to your site with high-quality content/or reviews that also are high quality. Don't use for affiliate links(as mentioned, MailChimp doesn't allow that).

Hard is to write those emails that are both valuable, wanted and also sell things. 80/20 rule, be useful most of the time.

Listen everything is related. You need to have a specific mindset and skillset when you have enough of information you can also become very productive, but one thing at the time and execute as much as you can(say no to things).

Affiliate marketing can be used in many different ways but the formula is something like this (always), no matter what you do, sure you can pay for ads and in some cases, you have to.



People also do build PBNs and that was one reason I gave up at some point, it is a dishonest method.

Hard work if you are honest and care about people, easy if you care only about a quick buck.

Best tools cost money, landing pages, clicfunnels, but convert well. You must read book dotsecrets, I haven't read it, but found summary online, yeah there are specific things you may not know if you don't have marketer mind.

Btw most of Clickbank, JVZoo products are crap.

Advanced:
You need to be looking for high-end products if Amazon then something around 100$. Read tos they are updating it time to time, you have to read how you can promote their products..these may not be aloud rss feed, email, and social media platforms.

In other cases than Amazon it is a good idea to use webinars. Webinars often are created by confident people with deep pockets and value, in the end of webinar selling high ticket products such as seminars or software, memberships etc.

If you don't yet have deep pockets, value or confidence get skills, mindset and money and keep rolling on, eventually, you will make it.

The thing with making money online is there are many different paths to take and each path also branches off.

So when you go searching the internet for "How To . . .", you will get a lot of great information, but no step by step process.

My suggestion is to research why way you want to make money online (i.e. affiliate marketing, blogging, vlogging, self publishing, freelancing, etc.).

Once you determine that, only focus on that. Start researching credible courses to take that will give you the step by step process and make things much more understandable.

Generally, courses are relatively fundamental but are very helpful and necessary when starting out.

I agree with Discover Ecommerce. To learn you can also take example from Industry leaders or, copy their systems, sign up or buy something from them(to see e-mail funnel), see what social media they use, what kind of landing page they have, how much information there is on their blog etc.

Here is the best resource you can get for free. Authorityhacker.com join their free webinar, watch it million times and make notes. Always take notes(webinar will be gone in a few days after attending).

I use it for building a list, giving away and selling my own products from my sites. Placing pure affiliate links is a bit scammy. I would not ever click one of those.

Instead of good content with selling purpose that has affiliate links in would work better.

I mean, many wonderful and helpful people will give you more information that just adds to the overwhelming amount you already have. Unfoutunatly most of that advice requires some experience and knowledge to decipher if its even good info. How are you to know that?

In this industry, there are so many ways that do work its hard to pick one. And for each that works, there are a hundred people out there totally willing to scam you. In many eyes, you are a money tree and they want to harvest you, not caring at all if they over "harvest" you causing you die. You will see lots of comments in this and all forums that are garbage. Those come from people just putting something in a thread so their signature gets in front of more eyes. Yes, that is even a method of marketing in IM.

(Many people here will recommend you stay as far away as possible from any and all WSO offers.)

I suggest you try pick just method of IM, and make a hard rule that anything you see that is outside that one method, YOU have to just totally ignore.

Yes, by doing that, you will miss some great opportunities. You will also miss a whole lot of ways to get distracted and derailed from any chance of success due to lack of focus. Once you figure out what method you want to try, search for other people doing that same thing and try learn what they do.

In most cases, what ever method you chose will have so much miss-information that it is so complex you will have to spend tremendous amounts of time and energy learning before you become successful. Or you can try find a legitimate mentor/coach. I do not do coaching, but because I invested in coaching 18 months ago, I finally started seeing consistent results. And I started out some 9 years ago.

Once the results start, then you can really start to learn.

Inaction is the greatest killer of your chances of success. 99% of new IM people quit because they get so much information they become overwhelmed and paralyzed with all that info and can't make up their mind what to do or how to do it.

Do something. Just make sure to stay focused on just that one thing till you start getting results.

Well, it might help if you have a project. I mean, yes there are a lot of things to learn but if you have something to work on, you will naturally filter unnecessary information and progressing faster.

So a lot of people here define the best approach by following ""bigger"" names. Great!

Information Overload is a big problem now days.

By Focusing & Following on one Guru you can avoid this problem.

Don't try to collect all things from every where on the internet.

Just Follow one Guru and Take their mentor-ship if you can afford and most importantly trust him!

Just focus on one process and wait for the results. Don't give up too early and don't try another process until you succeed little bit.

IM world is just like a real world. There's no one right thing for your answer. Everyone here is a BS for everyone else when what they offer doesn't fulfill the expectation. You can even say that McD's burger is a BS when you love a street burger in a corner near your office ('cause you buy it everyday for cheap) - for example. So do your own work to find one! Not all the bigger is the best, even they can be the biggest BS you may ever found.

We beginners all going through the same things. running into shiny objects and all that and systems that is hard to figure out and makes no sense sometimes. took me a year to really get thru the fluffs and mis-info to settle on one thing that really work.

so i do agree with ryan. study a lot of free content, read a lot of blogs and posts and so on

Overhelm its a big problem in the internet marketing field .You must dontbforget that at the endnof the day the most important thing its the work you do .work 80 percent and learn 20 percent

i think going through all that BS is extremely necessary in the beginning.

You´d have to struggle in the beginning to be able to learn to distinguish what is wasting your time vs what isn´t.

After you get a bit clearer vision, you have to stick to one thing, and one thing only. It´s hard to do, but it´s what´s going to get you through.

And then, you have to actually go out and DO. As described by the third of Newton's laws of motion all ACTION exerts an equal and opposite reaction.

To skip through alot of the BS you could hire a marketing consultant. They've been down the path you're about to go through, and their expertise could save you a TON of money in learning curves.

Or if that's not an option, navigate through the online world yourself and learn on your own.
