Hi everyone.
This is my first post and I'm really excited to get involved.
I have a few questions if you don't mind helping out please?

1. In reality how long did it take you guys to become able to leave your day job to shop IM full time?

2. Is there a point at which you get to that you decide, "I've advertised in my niche for long enough, now I'm going to hold stock and sell for myself".? If so, how did it work out?

I hope you can help me plan out some of my long term goals.

Thank you.

Steve.

  • 1. It can be months or years. It also depends on what is your target income.
    2. When you have enough budget and market experience, you can strat creating your own products if this is your passion.

The answer to both "It Depends"

But specifically.... #1 when you reach the 80% mark or so.. it is probably time to let go of the day job. BUT, in the time it takes to get there, PLEASE save as much as you can. You have created a pretty clear line in the sand.. IM needs to replace day job. In said day job you are currently make $X per year. your IM endeavours need to be equal to $X. How long will this take? How good is your hustle? do you have experience with this stuff already? are you clueless and just getting started? It could literally be weeks.. to never getting there.

#2 Are you just picking a niche to pick one? OR do you have some amount of knowledge already? In either case, you need to build a web presence of some sort. a web site some social sites etc. You have to fill these with content. You have to develop an amount of Authority. This can be done by sharing on other blogs, by commenting socially with video etc. You will know when the point has been reached were you have gained traction.. and then you would release a product.

If your new to the niche.. this will take longer.. if you have experience with the niche, start developing a product now.. maybe find parallel product in the meantime to get your feet wet and understand the PROCESS of selling. I know more than a few guys, myself included that do very well and never "create" a product.

Right now, time management will be your biggest thing.. how much can you put into the new endeavor, and more importantly how much are you willing to sacrifice today for the payoff tomorrow?

    hope that Helps!

I do IM in my spare time. I invest every cent I make online. When you don't need the money, there's a lot less stress from Google updates, Adsense warnings, Paypal bans, or hosting suspensions or all the other stuff that's personally happened to me over the years.

I think it's highly unlikely anyone will be able to suddenly start blogging and then quit their day job. It's a nice dream though.

    Hi Steve,

Unfortunately for 1. It will be different for everyone, there is no universal answer.

For 2, do you mean own your own product?

It took me several years a couple decades ago. I had to learn SEO and a whole bunch of other stuff and there was not the plethora of information online back then that there is now.

Nowadays, I toss up websites that generate "quit your job" type of income several times per year.

Day job? I never had no stinking day job! I've been "servicing" the opportunity seeker market since the "80s."
