Would you use images for a business/ecommerce website if they required giving credit(citing source)

I am trying to get more pictures to use for our website as main banner images and marketing images. I have been allowed to use some images but others are demanding a credit on the images of their brand. Basically a "link to their website" but not a clickable one. -Photos By Jill Turner theturnerlady3636747.com sorta thing.

We are a eCommerce website that offers products for sale. I think giving credit to images is a bad idea. I prefer to use images with no credit to outside sources. Names are fine but not brands.

What is your opinion?

One of the persons brand also has "badass" in the title and I am concerned it will offend some and not look professional on our part to have cursing/slang on our website.

If you're running an eCommerce site, how important - or even relevant - are these images to your sales performance?

They are images of customers using our products. Images like this are important but I believe we should only use the images that do not require citation. Ones that customers freely allow us to use.

You don't say what products you're selling, but it should be fairly straightforward to offer a coupon or discount to any customer who uploads a picture of them using it. Most, if not all, of those images wouldn't have any citation requirements.

Basically don't work with people who demand they get advertising of their business in exchange for images.

I've never come across customers who make such demands. If they send in unsolicited photos, it's usually because they're genuinely happy with the product.

I suppose if you're in the B2B market, some buyers might be looking for self-promotion. If that's the case, whether to use their images would be a simple commercial decision for you.

What's wrong with having a reference section at the end of the post or sales page with links to images that you use? How is that going to hurt you? I reference all the sources I cite when I write a post or use a photo. I just put them at the end of the article in the references section, all with outbound "do follow" links. If anything, it might give you some added credibility. Just my two cents.

Just buy the rights to the images. If the rights aren't for sale, find some other graphics that you can purchase the rights to and use those. Simple.

If are images irrelevant or looks bad then don't post them
Otherwise I don't see the reason not posting them

How do these require a citation?
