We hired someone for online marketing and they created a facebook account for our decorative concrete business. We have lost touch with the guy and it's been a few years since we heard from him. We don't have the username or password to the business facebook page. So my question is, does anyone have any experience with this? Should we attemp just making a new facebook page or does anyone know who to contact to reclaim the page?

It will be very hard to claim the page and will cause a waste of time.

Better go with a new ad account and try to limit the permissions and roles you're gicing to both advertisers and page editors.

You can go with business manager option and manage everything from one place.

The path of least resistance is just starting over rather try to chase down an old page.

Yes. This is a skill you need to learn how to do - as a marketer.

I dont know how much you paid the guy to create the Facebook Business Page, but there are free & clear webpages online that show you how to create a Facebook page in less than 30 minutes.

Dont hinder yourself. You can do this instead of relying on 1 guy that you will potentially pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to.

  • I also recommend you create a new Facebook group so you can keep your business available on Facebook.
    I wish you good luck!

I believe you will likely need to start from scratch

You have to search for the page first, if you can still find it. You can drop a message asking him to give you the logins but if it didnt work out that way, you have to create a new page.

Hi, is your page making traffic? Have you contacted fb to ask about the details of this page? (username, administrator email, links...). Check if you got something from them and build another one.

    Hi There,
I read through the replies, and yes this is a serious issue for a trade business like yours.
When people search on Facebook you want your page to come up, and you want it active and the right information showing.
If you simply start a new page, without deleting the old one, you do run the risk of confusing your customers.
I would suggest your contact Facebook about this and try to get access, or at least delete the old page. It may take some time and a number of contacts to get this done.
You can also search in a number of ways for your old marketing guy, so this is also another option.
When you do create a new page, set up an Admin role connected to your own personal Facebook account, and I would also set up one to another trusted personal Facebook account (like your fathers).
If you need more advice let me know.

Creating a new account is the best option you have here and yes you are correct that having a strong social media presence can definitely elevate your business when it comes to audience reach. I would also like to add, being present in Instagram especially can help too.

    Best of luck!
