How to generate stable income online

Hey guys...

We all want to generate stable income, without the ups and downs.

Here are some ideas:

- Create recurring offers (SaaS or membership site).

- Build an email list and schedule messages that provide value and also sell.

- Diversify. Have more than one payment processor, traffic source, etc...

What other ways to generate stable income can you share?

Thanks!

Might be possible, yet I have not found any type of online business where I can generate a stable income, without the ups and downs. All of your suggestions do have ups and downs and I know because I actively do them all to include more.

Now I will say that it is possible to minimize a businesses ups and downs. Some online businesses are very straight forward such as Ebook sales. There will always be a better eBook that will out sale your own, so that may be considered an up or down.

SaaS or membership sites are not without ups and downs. Anyone involved will tell you that. Matter of fact they have one thing in common - they have their own "unique" ups and downs. The most successful businesses will tell you to be successful is to be unique. The owners will also tell that with all of the competition out there the "uniqueness" can be short lived.

    - Build an email list and schedule messages that provide value and also sell.

Yes, as long as the autoresponder delivers and the products are targeted at a Target Market and the prices meets their Price Point. Anything less will npt create a stable income.

    - Diversify. Have more than one payment processor, traffic source, etc...

Agreed. I would also suggest "Do Not Put All Your Eggs In One Basket" as in having your domain name and hosting with the same company. It is the simple things that if done wrong will not create a stable income.

When getting started online the best thing a person can do is to offer a service.

If you're good with writing then you should offer writing services. If you're good with graphic design then you should do something with graphics. It's all about finding s service you can sell.

Once you've started making money doing this, you would get a good idea for how running a business online should feel. From there you may want to get into something affiliate marketing.

Build out a website and help people by providing them with valuable content. Once you've done this and you're making good money you can then begin thinking about creating products and making money without having to be so involved in the business.

Making money online is all about stages each stage is a different level.

Your suggestion is a valid one as long as it is made upfront to others that ups and downs are involved.

I started out with a service and maintain that service to date. Over the years there have been many ups and downs inherent with the service. No way around it I'm afraid.

Again, all online businesses have their own ups and downs and the only thing any business can do (actively do) is minimize the ups and downs.

If you want a stable income week in and week out then get a J.O.B. Not all that stable but more so than an online business. The best you can do is have a lot of lines in the water. If you have money coming in from enough different sources the ups and downs are not as steep. When one dips, another rises...hopefully.

I heavily promote PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers via email. Been doing it for over 18 years. The benefit is that there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them, as they have overall worked the best. They also tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a large general audience), so the potential exists to produce high volume and they are fairly easy to cross promote on the back-end.

Some of the verticals (niches) I have done extremely well with are: education, insurance, loans, debt, credit, mortgage, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

The bulk of the PPL offers that I promote pay $20-$40 per lead, but I also promote offers that pay more and less. You don't want to get too caught up on what an offer pays because how well it converts is just as important. For example, if you have an offer that pays $9, but if it converts at 2X or more of a $20 offer, then it will perform about the same or possibly better. At the same time, if you have an offer that pays $90 and it converts poorly, it may not even be worth promoting.

I have also done just as good with dating website sign-ups and pretty good with free trial + S/H offers. I also promote a very limited number of offers that are straight sales. For them, mass appeal is still the number one thing I look for and I also look for one of the following...

    1) The product is new and/or novel-unique and you can't purchase it locally or even something similar. I don't waste my time with it once something similar shows up in Walmart.

    2) The buyer can truly get what is being offered at a decent discount.

    3) Solves a house is on fire type problem.

However, I mainly promote non-PPL offers on the backend.

Bottom line, it's far easier to get someone fill out a short form than to get them to pull out their credit card and make a purchase. So why struggle with trying to sell this or that, when you can provide free information that users want/need and get paid well doing it.

    Something to think about.

Do you promote these offers to people on your own email list, do you buy lists or how do you promote these offers? I am very new to online marketing, so I don't exactly know how things work, but what you do seems like a good idea, providing free info and getting paid for it.

    Simple steps:

    2. Drive traffic through Pinterest & Youtube
    3. Collect emails & promote your Clickbank offers.

There are many ways through which you can earn a decent income on a consistent basis. If you are a little bit good at writing, you can easily earn from your home. Most of the common tricks like blogging, vlogging, translating, etc., you are already are aware of. So, let me tell you a trick which worked for me.

    Affiliate Marketing
This is a great way to make money. Whether you have a website or are still dreaming up ideas for a blog, you can also look into affiliate marketing. With affiliate marketing, you partner with brands and businesses within the content of your website to earn regualr income.

    Offer Online Courses
If you have any skill that you can teach or share with others, it's also possible to set up an online course you can market online. You can find online courses that teach anything from cooking to marketing or even freelance writing.

    Transcription Jobs
Transcription can be defined as the process by which speech is transcribed into written form. Here is a list of legitimate companies that regularly hire newbie transcriptionists on a regular basis. Most of these companies will require that you take short, simple transcription tests prior to accepting you. Note** Please do not pay any upfront fee for work at home jobs, no matter how much proofs they offer. Genuine work at home jobs are always free.

    Here's the thing.

    Stability = Boredom

If you want a stable income then put your money in term deposits or other fixed return investments.

The fun of running your own business is the Ups and Downs.

That might seem strange to some but the key is to make sure when you are in an up phase that you make sure you double down on what is working and at the same time put aside reserves for the inevitable collapse that will eventually follow.

If you are sensible about conserving some of your resources when the tide turns you can usually ride out the quieter times and also have more at hand to out market your competitors when they have spent up big during their up phase.

In hindsight it is always easy to spot the trends but when everyone is dining out on the exuberance of a prosperous period that is the time to start preparing for the inevitable.

Doesn't matter whether it is online or offline there is never stability.

If you look at the expansion of the universe and the conversion of energy eventually everything will become stable as in drawing to a dwindling halt.

Embrace the chaos and the times you are in because once you realise there is always some opportunity somewhere you can either go after the opportunity or if you want something a little more stable go after the opportunity seekers.

Sell the shovels to the gold miners etc.

According to Maslow's Hierarchy of needs the stability you seek is the second step up from the physiological need of food , water warmth and shelter.

The second need is security and that is kind of what the OP alludes to with the idea of stability.

I would suggest aiming a little higher up the pyramid aiming for self esteem and ultimately self actualisation.

There are times when everyone is seeking stability and that's okay because without stability it is difficult to move to better things.

You don't need wealth to meet the need of stability or safety. Look at Monks for example they don't seek wealth but they have stability and love and belongingness through their faith and others around them. They seek self actualisation.

I think something people should aim for is to be responsive rather in a reactive state so they can carefully manage their emotions and to some degree "cope" with the ups and downs.

Learn to recognise your own states relative to the situations you are in and you really find you have more stability.

Try to save at least a small portion of everything you make and soon enough you will find you feel more stable.

Also take a long term view.

For example my business can be up and down from extreme highs to bottom scraping lows on a short time scale like a day, week or month but generally when you look at a year you see a bigger picture of what look pretty stable.

Look further and over several years or decades it looks like you've beaten the general market.

Don't get too hung up on short term spikes or troughs.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

There is nothing seems stable, it's the time that tells you. I was hoping that my apps on google play store are a stable income source but then it went down and down in few years, though i was keeping it updated. I think one should go by the trends what's going on and try new things with consistency.

The easiest way to succeed is to do arbitrage. Buy something cheap and sell it with profit on it.

It can be products or services, personally i prefer services, because that way i dont need to have stock and the margins can be much higher.

If you want something really consistent and are willing to work really hard, then build an authority blog, create awesome content, optimize it to SEO, learn how to drive traffic to your blog and when you get at least 25k monthly session Join a top paying ad network (ex. Mediavine) where you can get between $8 to $30 RPM

Be aware that you need to dominate a lot of skills... i am not going to fool you. But if you spent lets say 3-6 months learning and apply everything correctly then you can make a lot of money only with Advertisement, if you want even more you can sell affiliate products and services...

I am doing it and works quite well.

I can testify to the ups and downs of a membership site/SaaS -- I sell a combination of the two (membership with a customisable website for members) and it's got a pretty good stick rate but you still have attrition, so you gotta keep selling it in order to stay at the same revenue, and you gotta sell even more to grow..

But it's like the poster said above, it's the ups and downs that make it fun!

In my opinion, it's very hard to have a stable income online.
I have been working online since 2008 and to be honest, my income isn't stable, but on the other hand, i am not worrying about it as long as I am making money and there is no long period of time when I am not making money at all.

You said email marketing could bring stable income, but you see, sometimes one product could perform better, another product worse, sometimes more people open your emails, somtimes less, so your income also won't be stable.

I think do not aim for stable income if you working online, better try to improve your business and grow.
In my opinion, the best is to spend your all energy, your time to build a business, grow your business as much as possible, make as much money as possible from your business and later try to reach passive income by for example buying real estate and renting. This way your income would be not only stable, but also passive.

I would say there are no way you will not encounters the ups and downs on any kind of businesses, either its online nor conventional.

But digital marketing nowadays are one of the best ways to generate income stream, for example you can sell something like weight loss program try search some on clickbank or whatever affiliates network, go to youtube find some videos related to the product, check if the videos are filtered as creative commons so that it is usable and re-uploadable, upload the video on your channel and put your affiliate link on the description and share your videos through social media and start to drive traffic to your channel, than wait and see the result.

This way you can promote multiple products and get multiple income stream

Like Oziboomer said, the perspective of "stability" includes the concept of time. Over what period of time are you looking at the ups and downs of your business? If you are to take the long term vision and approach for your business - instability will be very easy to weather. Once you take a step back and look at your growth over time as long as it is going up in general you're in a good place.

Don't overthink it. Just enjoy it and put out products and content that you believe in and believe me the love for it will make it so that you just go upppp.
