Hey ya'll. I have a question about SEO... How much does it cost to hire someone that can rank you well in google? What exactly do they charge for ? My friend told me you have to buy keywords or something like that. Also he told me it's very expensive around 1500 dollars? Can anyone go a little further into detail and tell me how SEO works and what exactly you are paying for?

SEO has several features, the primary focus being the creation of links back to your website or blog. You can do this via social media or other websites, YouTube videos and guest posts on blogs that are related to your niche.

Seem like half of my Twitter followers are 'SEO experts.' The mechanics are relatively easy to learn but the quality of the link providers is the real key. Even then, if you have the dough to work with a high end firm you may have a niche with a lot of competitors and are using the same kinds of linking practices as the company you are working with. Bottom line, even with the best and most expensive companies there are no guarantees and you may rank higher one week and much lower the next.

Again, you can get somebody on Fiverr to do this for a small amount of money, but there's a danger of black hat practices that can effect your rankings in a negative way.

Still, its certainly worth the investment if you have the resources to hire a reputable firm. You can do online an search using a variety of keywords for a provider. That will give you a clue of who can best deliver results.

I would suggest that long before hiring anyone, you know the basics of SEO, yourself - especially what is a good backlink and what is a bad one.

Unless you have some basic understanding, you'll surely get ripped off by companies that are doing things that stopped working nearly a decade ago (and there are tons of those companies - usually the cheap ones).

Oh, and just so you know, be very wary of any company that promises that you will rank on page one for any keywords you choose. Good companies never do that.

No one is automatically going to "rank you on the first few pages of Google . SEO consist of a variation of things.

    Things like
    Page load speed
    Domain authority
    BackLink juice
    Sub domain
    Url
    Reviews
    Content
    Keyword search
    Phrases
    Relevant data
    Duplicate content
    Thin content

It is not an over night thing.Unless you have a big budget to pay someone everytime you post something.

Why don't you learn some of it yourself in Google.

SEO companies charge on average from $1000 to $3500 a month for monthly SEO services.
Another option is to do it by yourself and to buy links. You can spend less or more, but if you know what you're doing then this is the best option.

It's not possible to answer your question without knowing the keywords you're trying to rank.

The competition of those words will determine the cost.

SEO is a Giant scam 95% of these SEO experts are just con artist stealing your money. If you wanna dabble in SEO buy a book or course and do it yourself. Your advertising money is better spent on Pay Per Click Advertising with golden keywords that produce sales. Remember Google can destroy all your SEO hard fought ground with a snap of their fingers.

Definitely do not "buy a book". It takes an average of two years to get a book published and certainly takes a good amount of time to write one. SEO is an industry that changes quickly, so anything you read in a book is bound to be at least three years old and very out of date.

It's very costly and not just a one time purchase.

I charge my clients at least $50/hour with a minimum of 40 hours for 3 months.

For a total of about $6,000

You can pay less, and most people do, but this puts my clients way ahead of the competition.

In SEO you get what you pay for as long as you have a reputable source.

There are so many variables to consider.
Do you require on-page SEO, off-page SEO, backlinks, social bookmarks, web 2.0s etc etc. There are tons of strategies. It's not one fixed thing that works for all. It is best to go for someone local. So that you can have a 1on1 with them.
