Affiliate marketing strategy?

I'm looking to get into affiliate marketing to earn a full-time income.

What is a time-tested, solid affiliate marketing strategy?

I've worked in marketing for several years both self-employed and as an employee. So, i have a pretty decent background in marketing. I've never really gotten into the affiliate side of things. I'm willing to take the slow road if necessary to create a stable business rather than just throwing up a landing page and dumping paid traffic on it.

Any insight from experienced affiliate marketers out there would be HUGE! Thanks

I've been promoting affiliate / CPA offer for a little over 18 years. However, I do things differently than most.

I heavily promote PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers. This is because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them, as they have overall worked the best. They also tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a large general audience), so the potential exists to produce high volume and they are fairly easy to cross promote on the back-end.

Some of the verticals (niches) I have done extremely well with are: education, insurance, loans, debt, credit, mortgage, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

The bulk of the PPL offers that I promote pay $20-$40 per lead, but I also promote offers that pay more and less. You don't want to get too caught up on what an offer pays because how well it converts is just as important. For example, if you have an offer that pays $9, but if it converts at 2X or more of a $20 offer, then it will perform about the same or possibly better. At the same time, if you have an offer that pays $90 and it converts poorly, it may not even be worth promoting.

I have also done just as good with dating website sign-ups and pretty good with free trial + S/H offers. I also promote a very limited number of offers that are straight sales. For them, mass appeal is still the number one thing I look for and I also look for one of the following...

    1) The product is new and/or novel-unique and you can't purchase it locally or even something similar. I don't waste my time with it once something similar shows up in Walmart.

    2) The buyer can truly get what is being offered at a decent discount.

    3) Solves a house is on fire type problem.

However, I mainly promote non-PPL offers on the backend.

Bottom line, it's far easier to get someone fill out a short form than to get them to pull out their credit card and make a purchase. So why struggle with trying to sell this or that, when you can provide free information that users want/need and get paid well doing it.

I drive traffic and build responsive email lists by acquiring different forms of email data.

Fresh / targeted 3rd party data, which is email leads of users that have shown an interest in a specific PPL niche or offer and have given permission to receive messages from third parties. You get the opt-in record of each user and it's 100% can-spam compliant.

Generate real-time Co-reg, which works by placing an ad for a specific PPL offer on a co-registration network and their publishers display it and users that view the ad can request more info about the offer. When a user requests more info, their contact info is automatically imported into your ESP account / campaign and they are sent a message regarding the offer. You pay on a per lead basis.

There is also rev-share data, which is basically 3rd party data (typically fresh / targeted) that you get for $0 upfront costs and you split the revenue generated from sending it with the data provider. Those that provide rev-share are typically just aggregating the data and aren't marketers and provide it to those that know how to monetize.

So with the above, I am getting fresh / targeted leads specifically for the PPL offers I'm promoting. However, they are not typically as responsive as a high-quality opt-in list that you build yourself. So to compensate for this you need to work with higher volume. This is not a big deal since the cost is much cheaper and highly scalable compared to traditional list building methods.

When mailing, you want to skim off the top any fast-track conversions and then for long-term success, you want to always be collecting your opens / clickers, segmenting and removing unresponsive users...converting the leads from quantity to quality and into responsive lists. Which you can then also cross-promote other offers on the back-end.

So basically the real reason I promote PPL offers because they provide the path of least resistance to generating conversions / $$$ and converting the data into cash producing assets.

There's actually more to it than it sounds, but done right it can be extremely profitable. Everyone that I know that is in the business and knows what they are doing, for the most part, does 6-7 figures. While that's a huge range, much comes down to one's ability to scale and effectively build / manage the infrastructure needed to scale.

Couple things I didn't mention because it is beyond anyone doing when they first start out.

You can get aged 3rd party data but it is more involved and requires special tools to do successfully.

Once you have experience, you can find companies that have opt-in / buyer lists that do little with them or nothing at all via email marketing...mainly they call all the users and or don't know anything about promoting affiliate / CPA offers to fully monetize their data. This requires more work because you have to find the companies, where the other options above it's easy to get access to the data. This is what would be considered 2nd party data, as you manage the companies data and monetize it for a percentage of the net profits generated.

    Something to think about.

It depends what you consider a full time income. 3-5k/month? Regardless, i think it's fair to say the way people have been doing this is by: Choosing a profitable niche. (top are health, wealth, romance), and creating a relationship with an audience of people in that niche (which you can find through social media, or search) through building a customer email list.

Regardless of platform or method, an email list is yours, and you can't have it taken away from you (as opposed to social media accounts where you're "renting space")

You're job would basically be, recommend products or services that you either like, believe in or have tried. There are a ton out there to choose from.

Afterwards, you can create your own product, and have affiliates sell it for you, although you can make a full time income by just creating a loyal audience you recommend other peoples products to through the email list, which is the most "time tested" method, in my opinion (aside from blogging, which can build your email list too)

I think building email list and promoting affiliate products is the best strategy.
Create a squeeze page with email capture form, write several good quality follow ups, next write a good content and send autoresponder emails to your list and later promote affiliate offers.

I remember one very good ebook which talks about how to make good relationship with your list and how to make killing with the list. I will try to remember the name of the ebook and will pm you.

the core of Affiliate Marketing is traffic.

The best and fastest way is to send traffic (PPC ads, Solo ads) to a landing page and capture email leads, retargeting pixel of those visitor, then convert them into buyers with automated email marketing campaigns and retargeting ads.

When you are promoting affiliate products my best advice is, create your squeeze page to capture the lead. The main goal is to build your list in order to follow in the future in case they never buy.

Use tracking links to track everything about your offers. You can use clickmagick or clickmeter.

Drive some traffics, if you want the best results, you can buy solo ads from udimi.com and trafficforme.com. You can also buy an impression from buysellads.com

    Then test, test, and repeat.

I've been doing this for a while and make a decent amount of money doing it.

First, remember that your goal here is to attract people. What attracts people? Original content. Original content is king. Video or text doesnt make a difference really, you just need to be informative, entertaining, original. Infographic videos seem to do pretty well.

Do you keyword search, figure out what you want to focus your niche on. Then create content around it. Once you do that, then its time to sprinkle in the affiliate links.

Okay I'm going to reply here only because you said ....

Any insight from experienced affiliate marketers out there would be HUGE! Thanks

Well I'll tell you the truth ... it's almost impossible to generate an income from affiliate marketing full time... depending on what you need to make to live comfortably for one month...

If you're talking about say $10k per month ....

That's really hard to achieve.... I'd say this In my opinion yeah cpa marketing has being at its worse conversion rates ever .....if any other marketer is doing really great pls give us an idea how it's possible for you as I would share mine below.

Okay I'm not going to mention any cpa networks names yeah but the shaving or stealing of conversions from affiliates has skyrocketed over the years.

This is the trend for every networks out there except ONE!

Which is no other than JumbleBerry ... the mother of all networks!

Ever since I started using JumbleBerry ... my conversions has skyrocketed for the same offers on other networks that I had zero or less conversions!

But getting in is no walk on the beach... you have to show a proof of $40k revenue from any network and as well as a strong reference who's banking currently on their network.

This is why I think it's quite hard to make a living with affiliate marketing ... it's doable but definitely hard.

    Here's what I propose you do ...

Start off with pay per call ... the conversion rates are still very decent .... scale your way up there then join Jumble Berry.

    That's my two cents ....

Righttttttt, you have a decent background in marketing and yet you are asking about a "time-tested, solid affiliate marketing strategy". If you're asking us that question, you are not as adept at marketing as you think you are.

"stable business" and "affiliate marketing" are statements that do not compute. Affiliate marketing isn't a business model. From the client side, it's a distribution channel, and a tricky one at that. From the affiliate side, it's a monetization opportunity, but that's not a business model. Anyone that's ever actually made money selling products and services online knows this.

My advice to you would be to:

    1. Save your money. It will be better spent elsewhere, or squirreled away for a rainy day.

    2. Stick to whatever job you might have within marketing. I'm a manager and I can tell that you likely need to improve your marketing chops before considering the possibility of striking out on your own.

Edit: After reading your old thread over here, https://www.warriorforum.com/main-in...w-what-do.html I'm now certainly convinced that you do in fact need to forget about making money online. You have some serious damage control to take care of within your own life. Sorry to sound preachy, but you can forget about it. You might think I'm being harsh, but take heed, my advice will spare you from more agony.

To simplify it, in affiliate marketing you usually start with one of the following: Paid Ads or SEO.

I suggest you to only pick one as there's a touch learning curve for both.

SEO is in my opinion the easier to understand, it's hard work like with Paid Ads, but the learning curve it's way less expensive as you don't have to pay...

(At least 10 months to start seeing some decent profit, if you do stuff right! )

Paid Ads give you more immediate results but they're tougher and more expensive to learn. However, once you become savvy with them you can scale your campaigns way more faster than with SEO.

Good luck. Affiliate marketing is completely different today. Not that it can't be done but it is incredibly competitive to get your website or offer in front of anyone unless you pay for it. If you are rolling SEO marketing then it will take a ton of content and time.

If you have money, go buy your customers. It's not like every other business doesn't do this from Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target and Joe's Pet Service. Nobody but niche slingers think it's a good idea to try to do this for free. All encouraged by affiliate marketers who sell affiliate marketing courses. The majority probably pay for clicks to get their affiliate course in front of eyeballs. To build their email list, natch.

Facebook group. Groups can be a great source of traffic and customers to your site

email list. this goes without saying

If your niche is image worthy use pinterest and instagram

twitter. tweet several times a day

It will take a bit of time to set all this up but once it is set up you can manage the whole network in a couple of hours a day.

Once this is set and the upkeep is easy on you then repeat with a new niche

Affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting other companies product and services.

Here is Simple Tips To Increase Affiliate Sales

    1. Buy the product yourself and review it
    2. Do a comparison video between your product and a similar product
    3. Have your own bonuses
    4. Build an audience

A lot of affiliate marketing is what I call "drive-by sales" - getting sales from direct affiliate links in your blogs posts and other content. The customer comes along, buys and is gone (probably forever).

Real income comes from repeat customers. There are two ways to do this. The first is to send customers to a squeeze page before directing them to the offer. This way you build an email list that you can market to repeatedly. Build a sales funnel behind the squeeze page so you can offer higher-priced products over time.

The second way is to sell subscription-based products. Once you've made the sale, you get repeat subscriptions on autopilot. It's true passive income.

The best strategy is to use email marketing to sell subscription-based products.

The trick is in finding quality subscription based products and services to promote. Pointing people to low-quality products means they don't subscribe for more than a month or two and it's not much better than the "drive-by sales" approach.

This is what I do, it's probably a little different to most people but a year ago I was earning $100 per month in commission, this month over $5,000 so it works for me.

I create content based around the product i want to sell, I try to find keywords that have little competition and can rank on page one of google with little effort or SEO.

That get's me organic traffic eventually.

Before the organic traffic kicks in I'll post links to the article on social media.

I then create a series of $1 a day Facebook ads that either drive traffic to the article, these can be video (animoto style) or image.

I then run another $1 a day ad to anyone who has engaged with my site for more than 30 seconds my videos for more than 10 seconds or 25%. This ad has my affiliate link and drives traffic to whatever I'm promoting.

I promote several products and last week $63 worth of ads generated $1135

  • The first thing you need to do is pick a niche.

Once you have that decision made I would start a blog or a YouTube channel. I personally think video is the way of the future, but if you like to write than go the blog route.

I would figure out how to start and build an email list as well. This can help you grow a community and build relationships, thus making it easier to make sales.

These are easy to start and get going and they don't cost anything. Then you can start looking into products and services to promote.

It can get very complicated and you can spend quite a bit of money. What I mentioned above is free and can help you start getting followers and gaining some type of SEO with google/youtube.

It's quite hard nowadays if you decide to go official Adwords and Facebook PPC without good website, not just some BS landing page, so feel free to explore other channels like SEO, e-mail marketing, some social blasts and so on. Be prepared for initital loss.

Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular ways to monetize online content. While there are many true stories of Internet entrepreneurs amassing small fortunes by delivering high-converting referral leads to affiliate businesses get inspired, this relatively straightforward concept isn't always as simple to execute as it appears.

    Hi Benjamin,

First, I would say there is no reason to take the slow road. Get in take massive action and get it done! :-)

I would suggest finding a mentor in the niche/system/field you want to embark on rather than spending months (or years) trying to figure things out on your own. The wheel has already been invented and it's perfectly round. Pay the piper, get the training you need from a reputable mentor, and put in the WORK.

One of the main reasons people fail at this online marketing game is because they flail around trying to figure things out on their own and eventually run out of money, time, and energy.

The other main reason people fail is because they read, read, read, and never take the required ACTION.

Get in there, roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty, make some mistakes, blow some money, get mad at yourself, then get up and get after it again.

You can do everything you want and then some, but it's going to take work and persistence. It's going to take saying NO when your friends come over and want you to go out with them.

Have an attitude of service to your customers and be prepared to go the extra mile or ten miles if that's what it takes.

You have to steel your mind to sacrifice for a couple of months to reap rewards down the road.

    All the best,

    Pat

We currently have 5 of the biggest online casinos in Australia in our portfolio, and we always look to work only on NET terms, on CPL and CPA deals. Many of our partners have asked for prepay terms, but we rarely oblige, because we truly consider that the Net terms will only help both brands grow organically. Also, we are not promoting anything, as we did not disclose any information or presented any offer whatsoever. We are, however, more than open to collaborating, if the opportunity should arise.

Here's a little tip that can make a big difference in your affiliate marketing business:

Never rely on products that get you a ONE time commission. (Meaning you earn a $10-$50 per sale)
Sure it feels good when you get your first sale but using this strategy will hurt you long term. Believe me.

You only want to promote any type of product in any niche by doing this:

You want to earn BOTH residual income and an income from UPSELLS.

Now, instead of getting a new sale and earning just a one time $20 from one customer, now you are about to earn $20 per month every month as long as they stay active.

If you promote the same offer that earns you $20 per month from one person (customer), the upsells that are in the back end will and can get you $50 and all the way up to HUNDREDS and THOUSANDS of dollars of extra income depending on the product itself.

Scenario #1: So a $20 one time commission will get you a sale but will keep you broke.

Scenario #2: $20 per month plus upsell commissions will potentially earn you $100s and even $1,000s of extra income that you would not be able to accomplish with the first scenario.

This will make or break you in the long term. Hope you choose Scenario #2.

Leave the sales copy to the company you are promoting. Their website will handle that.

What we should focus on is pre-selling, establishing trust, and after-sales support to the prospective buyer. Lots of ways to do this.

Thanks

I think selling digital products is the most profitable. To be in any business, you'll need tools. Typical tools for an affiliate would be Clickfunnels, Autoresponder, and Clickmagic. Clickfunnels will allow you to set up funnels and also online courses you can charge for. Start off with the smaller package $97/mo then as you build your business you can upgrade to the unlimited plan. AS for the Autoresponder, many don't like Affiliate type businesses. I use GetResponse with no issues, yet... and ClickMagic is where it tracks your campaigns and masks your direct affiliate URL.

There are a couple of great training programs out there that walk you through how to do this properly so you don't waste your money. One is only $7.00/month and after you start that program you can attend his Thursday night webinars for FREE. He builds online businesses for us and gives them to us FREE to sell as our own.
