Branding and non branding colors

When is it okay to use non branding colors, I have a boss that literally makes me use only brand colors and I think it makes videos and graphics look pretty boring. I believe some differentiation attracts your audience and new audiences attention. So I suggest using primarily branding colors but small traces of other colors that compliment the branding colors. Thanks for your thoughts!

  • "Hi Boss! Who did you learn this from? Where can I learn about it?"

    "How do you think it's been going so far, sticking with these colors?"

    Go learn so you can get in agreement with what your boss knows to be true.

    "What do you think about expanding the color palette in a complimentary way, in line with what we already know?"

    "How do you think we could go about it?"

    "What would you like to see?"

    Either you'll get somewhere or you won't, but this is the path I would go down.

  • DEMONSTRATION beats whatever words you come up with to convince your boss.

    Go find successful examples that support your argument.

    Start there.
  • Not sure why it needs to be approached at all. The boss wants it done a certain way, so do it that way. It's no skin off your back. What's in it for you to go against the grain?

    • I agree, it's probably not worth the headache of arguing unless there's a benefit to the OP in changing it.
