Facebook gave me candy and then disappointment

I have started selling goods on an eCommerce. Then created a professional ad on facebook.
I have never done it before, just studied from articles and video tutorials.
Fact is that after 2 hours of ad approval (exactly 45 impressions), I make the first sale. I can't describe the excitement.
Since I set the daily amount to 5$ I reached the budget.
From the next day to that sale (3 days ago) I sold nothing more, and it is at least 1000 impressions.

What am I doing wrong?
I supposed it was working like a charm cause of that insta-sale!

Would have to see the ad to know specifically.. but the way your ad is created directly communicated with that 1 person, I would be trying to understand who you are targeting ( within facebook ) and how there may be a disconnect with whom you are targeting and the words / image of your ad.

when I start a new campaign as an example I might run 4 or 5 or 8 ads all at once to see which one(s) are the most effective. by only running a single ad you are shotgun marketing with a pellet gun and not an actual shotgun if that makes sense.

    Hope that Helps!

    Hi, here are the ad.

The first day was published this. It is the one who generated me a sale in 2 hours of activity: https://tinyurl.com/yxjufdae

Two days later I replaced with a carosello, always under the same insertion tree.

When I saw no sales more I replaced carosello with this: https://tinyurl.com/y4wy9ghm

    I accept suggestions
If you guys like the page help me to start better, thanks!

Until tomorrow our new limited-edition handmade jewelry is out for sale! Buy your at the low price, quantity is limited. Fast shipping World Wide.

Your text is not helping here.

" Unique Limited-Edition Jewelry for that special someone in your life - Use code "EASY10" at checkout to get an additional 10% off your entire order. - Fast World Wide Shipping " might start getting you in the right direction.

In terms of your checkout page... having to type all my info in to get the Postage cost is a pet peave of mine. it reduces conversion - try and have a way they can insert their postal code only to get that cost, and this will help.

If it were me...I would select a single product that a guy would buy for a girl.. or a girl would buy for a guy.. Like the wrench ring as an example and target ONLY women

" Unique Limited-Edition Wrench Ring for that special someone in your life - Use code "EASY10" at checkout to get an additional 10% off your entire order. - Fast World Wide Shipping "

Dive into your analytics and get a more detailed description about your target audience. You was able to make a sale which shows that people are intersted.Maybe you need to tweak your ad because the more engagement and impressions your get the lower cost per click will be.Create a snippet of content that your fans can relate to and let the content be the ad.

Thank you for the tips. I try to apply it.
By the way, the shipping cost is fixed on the site header. There is a blu bar that says shipping cost is 5$.

If the shipping cost is fixed then remove the step. Think of it this way each step you add in the process is a step that will detour someone from making a purchase. By removing as many steps as possible you make the process smoother and in the end the offer will convert more.

    I have 2 questons.
    1. Is my niche ok to give a try?
    2. Is better traffic ads or conversions ads in my case?

I don't think anyone here has said surrender.. you cant make sales if you are not out selling - that is plain truth. and the reality is, it really does not matter what it is.. be it jewelry or baby formula.. until you learn HOW to connect with a buyer and sell an item, you wont sell this that or the other. Its NOT the item that is failing it is the process to getting it that is.

Is your niche ok to try? Dude 4th quarter is basically here. Christmas shopping season for big retail basically started Aug 15th. YES your niche is ok, and I would say given some of the uniqueness of your product, you stand a chance.

your #2 "Is better traffic ads or conversions ads in my case?" I think would argueably be the biggest mistake MOST sales effort run into - its NOT one or the other its both.

A conversion or a Sale is actually a series of small conversions. It STARTS with the ad.. getting the ad in front of the right people and getting it clicked. THAT is a conversion. Getting them to pick a product and put it in the cart.. THAT is a conversion. Getting them to click the cart and start the process of purchasing that cart.. THAT is a conversion. In your case right now, getting them to input their information to get to the shipping page.. A Conversion, and then getting them to insert a payment method and ACTUALLY make the sale, that then is the last conversion.

The sale is the end result of a process.. the more streamline you make the process the less likely you are going to lose buyers along the way. Sending clients to a page that is specifically built to sell the wrench ring as an example. enter quantity buy now click, enter payment information click done is FAR MORE streamline than click ad goto store browse store find item place item in cart browse more click on cart start buying process enter information to get to shipping page the enter billing information ok the sale is done.

Do you see the difference? I would say lose the timers and the non sense and create a page that sells and does it as quickly and efficiently as possible. there is NO reason someone should not be able to sell a ring in 3 clicks. #1 the Ad, #2 the quantity and confirm price ( including the flat rate $5.00 shipping ) #3 payment and shipping address information if different than billing information - thank you e-mail for your order and done.

You are making it to hard, and people want easy.. the moment someone thinks OH I want that, you need to give it to them as quickly as possible before they get distracted or have second thoughts - click click click and done they can now mark their brother off the Christmas list and done.

      Hope that Helps!

The person who suggested me to stop is from another site.
savidge4 thanks for your suggestions. Cause the fact I'm not english motherlanguage I didn't understood exactly which is better from traffic ads to conversion ads in FB.
By the way, I saw on the site that there is the option to add to cart, and the option "Buy now with Paypal" that go directly to paypal site.
I'll check if there is an app to make it quicker as possible.

As much as language can be a barrier, there are instances where it can actually work in your favor. in YOUR case it CAN work in your favor. Last year I was a part of a campaign that sold drones. the AD copy was intentionally written in as close as we could emulate broken Chinese English. We were asking above a to good to be true price.. we were asking above what would be an average sales point for the item.

I believe the copy written in broken English helped us sell TONS because it was CLEARLY an item coming from China.. so it had to be a good price ( that's what the buyers were thinking )

An example of the 3 click sale was that item right there. There was a 6 digit ad spend over 3 months for that. Ad click, Price and Quantity click, and billing and shipping address details and click done.

YOU have that caliber of product. but I really cant emphasize enough the AD you present should be for 1 item, the page that ad lands on should ONLY be selling that one item, and then click click and done. Sending prospect buyers ( the people that click the ad ) to a "store" page is just shooting yourself in the foot.

And with this, once you get the process working with one item you create the same funnel for the next item and the next and the next and you may have 5 10 20 ads running on facebook with items targeting that many specific target audiences.

I wish you all the best man!

This is absolutely brilliant! I LOVE this for so many reasons hahaha Everyone in China is trying to learn (perfect) english to connect with the Western world for many reasons...school, business, work, opportunities....and here you are trying to make your english WORSE so you sound like someone from China to increase your sales in the Western world. We started this testing "Proper English", and to be honest it was failing miserably. The reality is YES we were priced higher than our offshore counterparts. People are more than willing to wait 10 to 30 days for 50% off.

We had committed to a good amount of inventory, and a slow start was making us nervous to say the least. And it came out in a meeting that maybe we needed to lower our prices and I quote "If you cant beat them, join them" was spoken.. and that's when the light bulb in my head went flicker flicker on. From there we tried a few things including using the Chopstix font on the sales page.. which actually showed an uptick in sales, but we were looking for more, and it ended up like 30 to 1 better than the original English version that the broken English version converted way better - at the higher asking price.

That's interesting. Thanks for elaborating on the process. This is what we've been talking about in some other threads - people don't see the struggle and stress in the beginning. They only hear the success part (end) of the story and then assume it's easy to duplicate.

The reality is this worked for you and your team. If I or others try to duplicate this, it may not work. It's all about trying something and adapting/modifying/altering the path to reach the goal.

I still think this is a great story and if I ever get an opportunity to try this out, I'm definitely going to give it shot!

    Hello

I like Savidge's answers to you so I won't add anything there.

I'm just going to comment on your thread title - "Facebook gave me candy and then disappointment." I think that is very creative copy writing, attracted my attention.

I perhaps personally relate to it, but more like - "Men gave me candy and then disappointment." lol.

    Cheers

Depending on the use really, I use many. I use shopify, I program my own, I use WooCommerce. It depends on the product / products and what best suites my end user experience needs.

Its easy ( for me ) to program landers and shopping carts, for single product sales. Woocommerce is also good when you have a store but want the ability for single item landers. Shopify, you can do it but its cumbersome.

Can you briefly explain when you, specifically, would use Shopify or your own program or Woocommerce? I have my own reasons, but wondering if it's a personal preference or there's something more technical behind it.

For me, well let me start that again... I watch my wife shop online.. as in I placed a tracker on her computer to track what she did, what she clicked on, what she clicked thru, what she backed out of. For HER without question it had to do with user experience. When I would overlay the data I collected from her buying experiences Successful and failed, and overlaid that data across heat maps of my own personal stores and clients stores... to say it was eye opening would be an understatement.

Ease of use, equates to ease of buying - bottom line - no questions asked - do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Using the drones as an example. this was a custom HTML lander, with a programmed payment processor, accepted all major credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Paypal. The traffic was 100% AD driven, and was designed to be literally 3 clicks and done. Average time on site was a touch less than 3 minutes.

why I use WooCommerce... I run all of my affiliate sites using WooCommerce. I specifically use the WP All Imports plugin ( see this post to see more specifically why: https://www.warriorforum.com/ecommer...l#post11541911 ). The ability to have content and a store without the use of subdomains is a big SEO deal.

In terms of user experience, multiple layers of content based on context for a series of items or even a "Niche" is powerful. Understanding the buyer cycle and creating content to draw tire kickers, then more refined lookers, then comparison shoppers, then Item specific buyers, and even after sales support... creates multiple touches ( visits ) to your site as the potential buyer is doing research. Multiple touches helps in building trust, and TRUST is the #1 hurdle in online sales.

The ability within WooCommece to create trackable funnels outside the view of the rest of the store is very attractive. So I can have a store using content marketing as the primary avenue of traffic but also have single off ad funnels running in the background. I don't run a one ad for an item, I run 5 10 20 different ads targeting different aspects of a market, and tracking this is key to my success, and WooCommerce makes this easy and possible.

Shopify I would say is more platform and generation target specific. Instagram campaigns I almost exclusively run Shopify. If my primary target is Millennial, almost exclusively Shopify. Its not as flexible as WooCommerce, and if you are wanting to add say "content" you have to do so with a subdomain, and im not keen on that. BUT, to the targets I stated, it is becoming a norm / already is a norm and I fall back to " Ease of use, equates to ease of buying "

Thanks for the question! and you did say "Briefly" yeah.. well maybe next time LOL

  • All cool stuff from the Savdgster.

tbh FB acts kinda like a jobs board for Moi.

I get offers for shoes, cosmetics, vacations, and delapidated Eastern European palaces in need of repair.

Mostly the ads miss a copywritin' trick .

So mostly I follow through a link to the website an' get in touch.

Plus also, it's easy to press gang buddies into sending screenies if'n I wanna try my luck at racin' cars or deep space breathing equipment for the portly entreprenoor.

savidge4 unfortunately on Shopify there is no way to pay order on a single page.
In my products' pages there is already Buy it now that redirect to paypal or to CC payment but there is always the unuseful step to chose the shipping method while on my store there is only 1 ship method.

By the way Ad on Facebook is still online producing impressions but no sales. Pixel is still not optimizing with 10€ a day?
Don't you find so strange that when I started campaign after only 45 impressions I made a sale and then the desert?? I think Facebook lured me to high bid to receive more sales because he demonstrated he know how to get me customers. But the budget is still on 10€ so he doesn't want to help me. I'm paying that sale a lot now and my ROI is already negative!

you actually can just uncheck the 'Require shipping' option for the products that have set shipping, this will skip the Shipping step in the checkout process.

You need to look at this in terms of the mini conversions, Impressions are one thing, but how many clicks is it getting? 3% - more / less? If you are not getting clicks you need to fix the ad. If you ARE getting clicks, then it the lander is the issue - if you are sending them to your home page I keep saying that is a BIG issue, and will DRASTICALLY effect your conversions.

The clicks are definetely under the 3%..... The ad is a carousel with images of the product and the direct link to the product page instead of the home page.
    1300 Impression and 17 clicks.
So I should change the ad to improve click rate. But I don't know what ad to create.
Target selected is only "handmade jewelry" in US. Covering 280k.
I've also discovered that the carousel isn't working on Audience Network.

    I'm lost actually.

This is instead the ad that generated a sale: https://tinyurl.com/y5k478af
In my opinion the ad with less quality I ever made.
Also, this is the only ad that involved 2 likes on the post and on my page. After that the VOID.
I've created better ad, carousels: no sales, no likes, nothing. Instead of increasing the conversions, it is going worst. Nice pixel improvement.
My conclusion is that Facebook helped me first day only than completely forgotten me. I make the sale with 5$ budget. I increased that but things gone worst only.

The problem could also be that I'm targeting bad? Selecting only "handmade jewelry" as target maybe is wrong. What do you suggest me to target for that type of products? I've tried also to target "vaid yurman", "kay jewelers" without results.

NO, you did not create a better ad, a better ad will convert MORE. Forget your likes and your dislikes.. you have entered a world where math is what dictates a good ad from a bad one. A Good ad converts, a bad ad does not. SWITCH back to the GOOD ad ( the one you think is the worst you have ever made - because it converted at this point it is the BEST you have ever made )

I was assuming you were still running the same ad. Facebook didn't let you down, you let emotion and your ideals of good and bad get in the way of what really matters, and that is a converting ad.

I have said on this thread and countless times in many others that I would be running multiple ads. I would switch back to the $5 spend per day with the original ad. I would also create a NEW ad and run $5 on that as well and see how it compares to the original. this is kinda sorta what is known as A/B testing. Which is better at CONVERTING ad A or ad B? after say 2 days you remove the loser and try yet another and another and another until you get your click rate into double digits ( 10% + ) and a conversion rate you are happy with. This take the emotion out of the process of creating a well converting ad. Allowing the DATA to guide you to better conversion and greater profits.

women 18 to 35 maybe? Men 18 to 35? you have to understand that selecting "Handmade Jewelry" is going to display your ad to those that show interest in this specifically OR more than likely have the term "Handmade Jewelry" in their profile meaning they probably make Jewelry themselves.

Going back to the wrench ring. you could on top of targeting Men 18 to 35, but also include auto mechanic, diesel mechanic, mechanic, cars, trucks, farming, and so on

Do yourself a favor, go back to the $5.00 a day spend and work on getting it right.. when its right, THATS when you scale your spend.

So take the first ad that got a conversion, and try and replace the text as I left for you above. Try changing one of the items in the carousel at a time. Have you changed the targeting?

what was the item you sold? have you tried creating an ad selling just that to see how it works?

      Another bad day from me.
I have tried 2 ad and both are bad, a lot more under the 3% click rate.
I have no idea how to attract them to click. I will think on it.
Think on it? While I agree with Savidge's comments throughout this thread (and not sure why you seem to be fighting this sound advice so much), you also won't get far by just thinking about the problem.

Online marketing is about doing. Not thinking. You need to test and test some more. You tried 2 ads? 2?! Can you imagine how many millionaires there would be out there if all we had to do was make 2 ads with no experience, have one of them work and kick our feet up while we count our money?

Why sulk about this? Everything you are going through is completely normal...even not following expert advice from Savidge is normal because newbies want to do it their own way.

Yes, you're going to be bad at the beginning. Your conversions will suck. Accept it.

What you don't have to accept is the time it takes to get better. Reduce the time it takes to become an expert yourself by listening and DOING what the experts in this thread are trying to help you to do.

When you run FB ad, you should focused on promoting a single item to a specific group of people. Use tools such as FB audience insight, to find out your target audience. Once you have done that , look for other examples of ads for a similar product. Then , split test and monitor your ad till you see good results.
