What is a fair Affiliate Commission for DIGITAL CHESS BOOKS?

I want to sell digital chess books as a n affiliate but the commission offered is very low. How much commission percentage should I ask for?
I always believed that the selling website should earn at lest 40% for digital products because the affliate has the traffic and there is no shipping and handling involved but the whole process is automated for the shop. In other words the money is rolling in automated for the producer.

So as my website got the targeted traffic which took me many years to build up I should earn the same amount as the shop which sells the digital books.

Any thoughts on that? Who knows more about this?

The rate of commission is entirely a matter for the product owner. If you're dead set on promoting that particular product, make a compelling case and see if you can obtain an increase. Otherwise you'll have to accept it and move on.

But if you already have targeted traffic, maybe you should consider creating or commissioning your own book(s) and keep all (or the lion's share) of the profit for yourself.

Not convinced this is a serious question. The seller/creator of a product sets the commission for affiliates...in some cases the site where products are sold sets the commission.

Of course you think that - but it doesn't change the commission structure.

If you have a verifiable record of successful affiliate sales, you can try to negotiate a higher percentage with a seller - but no guarantee a seller will agree.

Seems like the same question millions of people ask themselves every day at their jobs ... "we're here doing all the work, dealing with customers, making the products, marketing them, and the CEO just sits around and collects most of the money".

It's life; get used to it. If you don't like it, you need to become the owner that is paying the affiliates (or the CEO).

I got hold of a public domain Chess book and then put the lot on my first website, (that l still own, don't ask me why, it isn't profitable, with adsense).

Or l am giving away about 80 pages for free, or for the Google Keyword Ranking only.

And l checked that recently, with meagure results for SEO.

So yeah, not surprised that your takings are small, or l also researched other ways to monetize that and other related things, with similar results.

.Probably more profits in computer games, even thought the kw, rankings would probably be a b***ch to rank for.

    Good luck.
