Converting followers into buyers

Sometimes we need to think out of the box.

Anyone of us has a lot of friends and share with them videos and stories JUST FOR FUN.

Does anyone ask himself:

"How can I convert these friends into potential customers (or buyers) for my product ?

  • Not sure I understand your question tbh.

You want to treat your friends like cash cows?

Do you share so much stuff, that you could make a living off your friends?

Not seeing the 'outside of the box' thinking here. But hey, I may have misinterpreted your question.

Maybe MLM is your bag, eh?

This is pretty much every MLM strategy I've known - find your good old friend, and entice said friend to your schemes.

You already share the contents with them for "JUST FOR FUN" and now you want to change your mind to sell to them the contents! That is not sound cool. If I were you, I will try to find customers to buy my contents and let my friends be my friend and keep sharing my contents with them "JUST FOR FUN" hope that helps

The answer to this.. share what it is you buy.. a small review and a link to look at it ( IE a affiliate link ) Hey just bought this cool flashlight... click here to check it out.. bought this wicked cool toaster... it even melts the butter for you.. click here to see it.

It is really that easy to do it and its using kinda sorta the principle of referral. nd that's they way I would keep it.. l actually own the product, that you are going to share.

Sure, it's easy to sell things to your friends. As mentioned, it can be as easy as just recommending a product.

Some companies have even built multi-million dollar businesses around the idea of recruiting people to sell products to their friends (Tupperware and Pampered Chef are the first two that come to mind. There are many others.)

But just be very careful with your approach, because if you try to sell stuff to friends on a regular basis you'll be walking a thin line of social norms.

One big danger is possibly turning a social relationship into a financial, transactional relationship. If that happens (and it's very easy to step over the line) your friends may start to feel more like customers.

Once they feel like customers, it can become difficult to ever reverse the mindset back to a social friendship.

So yes, it's fairly easy to sell things to friends. You'll just need to decide how much you like your friends, and how far you're willing to push the relationship.

Ok so social norms..and sounding like you are pushing an MLM.... How bout telling your friends.. hey, I do this thing called Affiliate marketing. and what I do is build websites about topics or items and try to get people to click on links to buy what ever product I have on my sites.

Then going that extra step.... I am an affiliate of Amazon... and clicking this link ( click here ) and buying what ever it is you are going to buy on amazon changes nothing for you in terms of price or service, but it gives me a small kick back on the purchase. Any item helps! thanks.

They are "friends" and you are being upfront and honest! In the process you might find you have friends that are trying to do the same thing. I honestly don't think its so out of the social norm to do this... Sharing aspirations and dreams and allowing friend to help you on your journey... isn't that really what friends are for?

Sure, that could be one thing friends are for. But that didn't sound like the question he asked.

      He asked...

Which taken at it's word makes it sound like he's trying to "convert" them from friends into customers.

I'm not here to pass judgement on the guy. I was only cautioning him on the consequences of intent.

I often buy, sell, and trade things with my friends. But I'm not trying to convert them from one thing into the other.

I get what you are saying.. and to a degree I understand what he is saying. I personally am the exact opposite of the OP... My work IS my life... I socialize with clients.. clients become friends.. I operate in a world exactly opposite to what the OP does. I don't have "Friends" and he doesn't have "Clients" I am a living testament that it can work one way, so surely it can work the opposite way as well.

Harassing your friends to make money is the best way to lose them fast.

Talking with them about what you do so they know they can order from you and get you a commission some way, because they want, it's totally different.

But calling it "outside the box" when it's the easiest and most overused "strategy" in the world is a big stretch.

This is MLM 101 as others said.

You can look business opportunity in whatever you do, however if your friends are going to be your potential customer or not, that depends on the product or service you are selling. In case your business is related to discounted coupons or vouchers, your friends are going to love the idea.

Similarly, if your business is related to consultation services like interior designing, then too your friends may get converted into prospects.

I am a bit lost with regards to your inquiry.
It is not easy to convert a friend or rather should I say a follower to be a potential customer this is why marketing research needs to be done first before putting up a business.
