Listing Business in Google Map

Can anyone tell me exactly if listing a business website in Google Map makes Google prioritize web ranking in the certain locality/nation only? I hear vivid views on this and not sure whether to submit my business to Google Map or not as I am targeting Globally for my services.

Do you have a physical storefront where customers can come in and buy the merchandise? If so, get a local listing on Google Maps. If not, don't!

Yes, I understand that use but what about the web ranking? Does listing it in Google maps will narrow my visibility in definite local searches only or I will still have global visibility?

Hi there. I did a search for this but was not really helpful.
My ideas are that if you were solely relying on your Google map listing for exposure then you could quite possibly be seen in your local area.
However if you are also using other means to get seen like social media SEO etc then the Google my Business listing will hep you rank in your local area but you would still be found globally. You can put in your listing that you offer online services worldwide. I hope this answers your question

Being listed on Maps for a local area does not affect your ability to rank nationally or internationally.

Totally 100% agree with this. - Some added personal experience. I had a affiliate site that specifically sold generators. I happen to live in an area where about once every other year or so we get a storm that comes through and knocks out power to a good chunk of people for about 2 weeks. ( you would think the power company would just bury the lines, because where I live trees and power lines are not a good combination - Kinda like California )

SO what I did, was do the Google My Business thing to rank well LOCALLY for these searches because I knew there is a propensity for buying generators. Instead of Maps I went this route because I didn't want walk in traffic - and you can "hide" your address. I placed local Schema on the "Contact Us" page only, and then created content as you would normally do.

There is without question a boost locally for the terms you are targeting, but at the national level - I would say there is not. Without question tho, I was able to rank pages at the national level as well as the micro local level.

      hope that helps!

Doing Google business listing is a good thing, make sure you also do submissions in major Business listing sites too.

You can submit to multiple locations, but that;s not all, you need many 5 stars and good reviews.
