Does age of domain matter in ranking?

Hey everyone,
I want to know if age of domain matters in ranking website or not?
Like if a domain is 2 years old with same content as a domain with 2 months of age, would they be differently ranked in google?

It depends on whether or not that aged domain ever had indexed content on it or if it was just parked. It also depends on whether it is an expired domain or not. It also depends on whether there are backlinks to it and what kind of backlinks those are.

If there was never any content, it shouldn't have any rankings impact whatsoever. Even if there was content, if it is an expired domain name, it shouldn't have any impact. If it isn't expired and has content, it still won't have much impact at all if there are no backlinks and it doesn't really already rank for anything.

      Thank you for your response
My domain has no backlinks and no content, it was just bought and then parked so it won't help me in this regard.

It matters, but just make sure if you buying some expired domains to look if the domain wasnt used for some scammy stuff or for some spamming purpose.

The old domain definitely matters, but you need to do some research to analyze its credibility.
    It shouldn't be penalized
You need to check the spam score of that domain
You need to see the previous activities of that domain

Any old domain with a negative rating is harmful.

Personally, I think that what really matters, it's not so much the age of a domain as its authority. I think you can have an old domain in reserve for instance, but if you haven't built anything around it, if it didn't gain authority in Google eyes, than how old it is would not really matter.

Same thing with individual pages on that domain's website. It's their authority that will matter when it comes to ranking.

Yes, the age of the domain does matter, as the older a domain is, the more trust (it potentially) has in Google. If the aged domain has high quality backlinks, it will have a higher, more stable ranking as compared to a domain that is only 2 months old with few backlinks.

If you want to sell your old domain you can sell it for more. That's where the age is a positive thing!

Does Domain Age Matter? The direct response to this particular question is absolutely. Domain age DOES matter. However the notion that domain age matters just isn't simply because the domain is young, but rather that it would be unnatural for any new domain to have a sound number of quality backlinks necessary to rank in a competitive search.

So what if it is unnatural? What is natural?

I create a website, I spend $50,000 in ads and send 500,000 people to it i n the first day. 10% of them mention my site on their blogs, so I get 66,742 backlinks. What did I do that is worth Google's wrath?

I create a website, I some famous person with 38 million followers on twitter sees my tweet, links to my site. 14% of her followers link to my site from their blog, I get 7,311,142 backlinks within 1 week. What did I do that goes against Google's rules or nature's?
