You might be trying to be helpful, but just saying - Get traffic to your website - isn't really much use to anyone.

And your step 8 - Collect emails from your visitors and do email marketing - is pretty much an affiliate marketing business in itself.

There are many ways of approaching affiliate marketing - if you're involved in affiliate marketing yourself, why not tell us what worked for you and maybe throw in a little bit about how you went about tackling one of your "steps"?

Well your post its too basic and i dont know if it help newbies so much as for example you tell get traffic to your blog bt you dont tell how to get traffic .But thanks anyway

Being experienced at selling... the steps are not all that useful.. or should I say laid out in a manor that would create success for most of those that read it.

So about me... I primarily sell "Product" meaning physical things. So what I am going to lay out below will work be it a physical product or a information based product, BUT... So lets pick an item... so to pick a niche.. you could select say "Instant Pots" which is B R O A D.. or you could select a specific model that you own, say ( Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker, 6-QT, Stainless Steel/Black ) Do a quick search on Amazon and see if the item is available. If you happen to own a "Star Wars" Instant Pot, and do a search on Amazon and don't find it... well fear not you can search "Williams Sonoma Affiliate Program" and find that joining ( https://www.viglink.com/merchants/39...iliate-program ) it will give you a 3% payout and allow you to sell the Darth Vader, Chewy, BB-8, and Storm Trooper models.

So now in theory we have a "Niche" and a specific item... and an item we have experience with.

2) Select a domain name Like I stated in a post above, I am not a fan of buying a specific domain for a specific "Niche". A few reasons for this.. but think about longevity for a moment.. how long do you think you are going to be able to pump content out for "Instant Pots"? probably not to long.. so having the ability to get a URL based on a personal BRAND allows you to promote items you are interested in vs staying within a specific niche and burning out.

You can do the same thing with Information based products, you just have to be mindful of how one offering will compliment or be in parallel with other products you are selling. So you don't want a diet product and then a SEO product - if that makes sense

3) Sign up for a Web hosting to host your website easy enough

4) Build your website by Wordpress

5) Create content on your website and promote the product The order changes a bit here. In most cases with PRODUCT... you have to have the site up before you are accepted. So the first piece of content you will want to write.. because you OWN the product is a review. be BRUTALLY honest.. what you like what you dont like. DO NOT use stock photos... take images of the product in your own home

So now we are talking about an Instant pot so what other content can you write? Recipes comes to mind... how to clean it... you can create simple little youtube videos of prepping the ingredients placing them in the pot and then showing you serve it to a bowl or plate.

6) Choose an affiliate program and pick a product related to your Niche we have already done this at this point... so what you will want to do here once you have a couple of articles written about the product is then submit for the affiliate program.

7) Get traffic to your website When you get to a product level - SEO generally becomes easier. Add to this that you have a collection of content related to a single topic it is even easier. so your content title will look like this:

Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker, 6-QT Clean up
Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker, 6-QT Recipes

Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker, 6-QT Orange Chicken Recipe

You can then share the video on your Facebook or Instagram feeds - make tik tok videos... do whatever you can and create further content on different platforms to spread your "Reach" in terms of getting traffic. I also happen to know there are reddit groups and Facebook groups etc where they share recipes etc that you could join - or might already be a member of because you own one.

8) Goto your local Walmart or where ever and buy a DIFFERNT Instant Pot use it once and return it. Before returning it, take photos etc and start the whole process over again. but this time include a comparison between the one you own, and the one you "borrowed".

IF you wanted to create a mailing list, you could.. you could share weekly recipes if you liked. Actually MAKING the recipe and shooting your own photos / video will create a HUGE seperation between your content and others.

A silly question and before you answer I know that the above is an example, so we are good there,

But in this design phase and in general, would one inspect those keys a little more to see if they would rank? before setting sail as I doubt many people would have any social/other audience behind them as well?

In that should this step be a stop and check your possibility before marching forward?

Those terms > Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker < all have > Volume: 0/mo | CPC: $0.00 | Competition: 0 <

and if we look at any of the keys that could possibly rank? > instant pot 8 quart < we have > Volume: 40,500/mo | CPC: $0.60 | Competition: 1

with a allintitle URL of around 4K for that key and as you can see by any of the main keys they all have a difficulty of 1 (this is for advertising) but all round anything even closely related to those terms paid or organic leaves very little room for error especially a newbie?

If we add the word amazon into the mix it gets even tougher?

Again you always give great advice (probably one of the best here), so I am asking should this be a factor to consider before jumping in heads shoulders knees and toes?

I am going to flatly answer this with a NO. Your average Joe going in and looking at the numbers convolutes the entire process... does your average person even know what they are looking at? and I think we all know the answer... and it is NO.

And for many.. yes it is counter intuitive... why would you target something that has little to no traffic? After Sales Support: Articles like "Recipes" and "How to Clean" are of interest here, but also in the decision making process.

A bit of an exercise... Pretend you want to buy an "Instant Pot" you will search "Instant Pot"

This ( Instant Pot ) is where most people will target content... this is also the point that SEO is as close to impossible for someone building a new site to rank.. it simply will not happen. Your average person will say / think "Oh this is where the traffic is"

From the initial search what is next? a search for best? and then you read that content and then decided I like Model X... if you are then going to BUY at this point... you might / would type "Instant Pot Duo 60 321" and more specifically you want the stainless / black one so you type "Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Stainless and black"

What happens in that search, if you were to happen to see a model specific page that has "Recipes"? and then see a review.. and see how to clean? Your content starts solidifying #1 the decision to buy.. and WHERE to buy from.

What separates the idea as it is laid out from everyone else trying to sell the item as an affiliate is HOW the content is written. Google in its infinite wisdom WILL KNOW that the images are not the same they will find on most every other product site ( because you took your own ) they WILL KNOW the content is original because it doesn't match the manufacture description or a Amazon description... and THIS alone is a HUGE advantage.

All of these things as I have laid it out can only help in ranking - and SELLING the product...

So back to the counter intuitive aspect of less traffic and less competition... There is without question less traffic for a term such as " Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker, 6-QT, Stainless Steel/Black " BUT there is a GREATER ratio of buyers. I would venture to say 3 to 1 probably vs a term like "Instant Pot" tht is going to be 1000 to 1 at that level of the buying cycle.

Great content. Some things I would add are that I always START with buying keywords that are low traffic low competition and head up from there. That gives you a good foundation of not only getting buying traffic but also of getting fast rankings to build on.

I usually won't target the very broad terms (if I get ranked for them that's cool) because you will get a ton of traffic but not necessarily many buyers. So, what people miss with that is that you are spending money on bandwidth. So, you end up spending a lot more on servers but with not necessarily great results. Like you said, there is good traffic and not so good traffic. Just because you get traffic doesn't mean they will buy.

For instance, my wife looked for 2 years for instant pots. She wanted one really bad. So, she did a ton of searches and research on Google. We bought a Ninja Foodi instead. So, while doing her broad searching to narrow down what she wanted she cost someone server bandwidth and never actually bought. That happens quite a bit.

You also want to be fairly regular with content as well. This let's Google know that the site is active. You don't want to dump several articles then nothing for 5 months. I'll get articles written and then drip them consistently to publish evenly until my next batch of articles is ready. If Content is King, Consistency is Queen.

Being experienced at selling... the steps are not all that useful.. or should I say laid out in a manor that would create success for most of those that read it.

So about me... I primarily sell "Product" meaning physical things. So what I am going to lay out below will work be it a physical product or a information based product, BUT... There is a step or 2 that you will notice missing. Primarily the creation of an e-mail list. In product sales This is another moving part, and for a beginner, a moving part that is more complicated than helpful. And from my prospective of someone with experience.. its a step that is simply not needed.

So below is the original list of steps:

1) Choose a Niche. This is a pretty broad statement and one I think that needs to be narrowed considerably. You don't want to identify a "Niche" as much as you want to identify a "Micro Niche" In terms of "Product" you will want to identify a SPECIFIC product.

HERE is the key to having an advantage over the competition... In selecting an "Item" you want to OWN that item. meaning... look around your house and pick an item. This does a few things for you.#1 in the content creation stage of the process you will be writing about YOUR experience... and this type of writing comes across to the reader differently - there is a difference between re-writing a description and writing from experience. #2 You don't have to do any amount of research in terms of demand.. that fact that you OWN the product means you are probably not alone.

So lets pick an item... so to pick a niche.. you could select say "Instant Pots" which is B R O A D.. or you could select a specific model that you own, say ( Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker, 6-QT, Stainless Steel/Black ) Do a quick search on Amazon and see if the item is available. If you happen to own a "Star Wars" Instant Pot, and do a search on Amazon and don't find it... well fear not you can search "Williams Sonoma Affiliate Program" and find that joining ( https://www.viglink.com/merchants/39...iliate-program ) it will give you a 3% payout and allow you to sell the Darth Vader, Chewy, BB-8, and Storm Trooper models.

So now in theory we have a "Niche" and a specific item... and an item we have experience with.

2) Select a domain name Like I stated in a post above, I am not a fan of buying a specific domain for a specific "Niche". A few reasons for this.. but think about longevity for a moment.. how long do you think you are going to be able to pump content out for "Instant Pots"? probably not to long.. so having the ability to get a URL based on a personal BRAND allows you to promote items you are interested in vs staying within a specific niche and burning out.

You can do the same thing with Information based products, you just have to be mindful of how one offering will compliment or be in parallel with other products you are selling. So you don't want a diet product and then a SEO product - if that makes sense

3) Sign up for a Web hosting to host your website easy enough

4) Build your website by Wordpress

5) Create content on your website and promote the product The order changes a bit here. In most cases with PRODUCT... you have to have the site up before you are accepted. So the first piece of content you will want to write.. because you OWN the product is a review. be BRUTALLY honest.. what you like what you dont like. DO NOT use stock photos... take images of the product in your own home

So now we are talking about an Instant pot so what other content can you write? Recipes comes to mind... how to clean it... you can create simple little youtube videos of prepping the ingredients placing them in the pot and then showing you serve it to a bowl or plate.

6) Choose an affiliate program and pick a product related to your Niche we have already done this at this point... so what you will want to do here once you have a couple of articles written about the product is then submit for the affiliate program.

7) Get traffic to your website When you get to a product level - SEO generally becomes easier. Add to this that you have a collection of content related to a single topic it is even easier. so your content title will look like this:

Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker, 6-QT, Stainless Steel/Black Review
Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker, 6-QT Clean up
Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker, 6-QT Recipes
Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker, 6-QT Chili Recipe
Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker, 6-QT Orange Chicken Recipe

You can then share the video on your Facebook or Instagram feeds - make tik tok videos... do whatever you can and create further content on different platforms to spread your "Reach" in terms of getting traffic. I also happen to know there are reddit groups and Facebook groups etc where they share recipes etc that you could join - or might already be a member of because you own one.

8) Goto your local Walmart or where ever and buy a DIFFERNT Instant Pot use it once and return it. Before returning it, take photos etc and start the whole process over again. but this time include a comparison between the one you own, and the one you "borrowed".

IF you wanted to create a mailing list, you could.. you could share weekly recipes if you liked. Actually MAKING the recipe and shooting your own photos / video will create a HUGE seperation between your content and others.

Wow. It's pretty much very detailed.... I agree with focusing on one specific product that will lead to focusing on the specific group of persons already interested in that product but want to know more, and/or people that can eventually be interested in it because it will fill a need or solve an issue they have.

This one right here is where people get in trouble. First time dong IM? stick with what you know or have a passion for... a topic o item you can bring an amount of information to the table with. Its BETTER if this is a topic you are already connected with, be it other forums or social media etc. IF you have not made money online before... maybe "Making Money Online" is NOT the niche for you.

Agree to a point with this one.. but the truth is you re better off developing brand from the get go... IE a "Name" or even YOUR name... vs best<insert niche here> .com Maybe not tomorrow.. and maybe not a year from now... but in time BRAND will win over in the long run... and you decide to NOT promote your first product anymore.. you can simply "re-tool" what you have and start a new.

You can research and move to the cheapest e-mail newsletter service, make use of discounts for website hosting and domain buying and many more things you can do to bring your costs down.

This is what'll bring your affiliate revenue to the next level.

Restating what Savidge said:

A keyword with 10 searches and you are #1 gets you 3 visitors from that keyword. If you are number 1 and 3 to 5 visitors from related keywords with 1 to 5 searches a year.

But visitors that mean business, so you end up with 1 to 3 sales.

Vs

Keyword with 3000 visitors, and you are #5. You end up with 150 or so visitors from the keyword itself and 150 to 200 from related keywords.

A bunch of them are at the beginning of the buying cycle, a bunch are SEO and other type of marketers.

You end up with 1 to 3 sales.

Which one is better?

Why did I not say the keyword with 3000 searches is #1 and you get 1000 visits from the keyword itself?

Because #4 and higher are seriusly defended and unlikely for most to get to.

And, if you are one of those who got there, you will have much higher costs, so you are no longer comparing apples to apples.

By the time you got to be #1 for that 3000 searches keyword, you could be #1 for 20 or 50 keywords with 0 to 100 searches (as per Google) and have dozens if sales a month.

If you already have a site, look at how many keywords with 1 search in a month gave you 1 visitor and the search term, and you will see that you get an aha! moment.

My above numbers are estimates from my history, which has nothing to do with pots. So do not bug me about accuracy or lack thereof.

Yes guys appreciate and thankful for the feedback, as usual, it was myself that did not convey the message correctly, the above is very true and how I work.

Where I went wrong is (In the Example) many of those keys had 0 traffic, and my question was more in line why would we focus on keys with 0 traffic.

So yes you both are exactly correct and my explanation was not clear, so sorry for that.

I think the above post may have answered this to some extent but let me be more exacting in the answer. The reality is Google says 0 ( zero ) but real world numbers will show something in the order of 10 to 100 - and in some cases far more.

I would suggest that looking at Google Analytics data where they "hide" data... In true Google Consistency would it not stand true that maybe they are holding data back in the keyword tool?

A real world test, place " Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker " in Google search and see what happens... and NO there are no "Ads" but the Shopping and Related Search banners are there - and THAT alone indicates an amount of search volume. When volume drops those will either disappear or be replaced with the image bar - incase you are wondering.

This is not directed at savidge4, More for folks that may be new to some advanced SEO research...

A real world test, in working practice, would be to compare a minimum of two different search engines. For instance:

1. Google (Gserps)

2. DuckDuckGo (DDGserps)
Side note: DDGserps is a combination of the top search engines.

Test 1. Cached results. When comparing any 'cached' results, specifically for Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker there are differences.

Test 2. Anomalous results. When comparing any ''anomalous' results, specifically for Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker there are differences.

In summary, a keyword searcher will often find additional keys, albeit those additional keys may or may not make a working difference. The end result is the comparison reveals kw differences that can be relevant to SEO in a major ways.

Internet Market Wise, through research it is a given that the product Instant Pot Duo 60 321 Electric Pressure Cooker is a low volume product that an IMer (Internet Marketer) can easily add to a niche. How to make money? Amazon!

Ever searched for something on Google, then wondered how many searches your search phrase has? I have.

Abd, sometimes, Googke keyword planner said the keyword, though I had used it 2 or 3 times, had 0 monthly searches.

Seems to me Google does not track or share tracking results for all low search keywords.

Sometimes, you search for something and look at the suggested additional keywords at the bottom of the page and find one you think is great; you look it up in the keyword tool and your buddy Google tells you it has 0 searches though your buddy Google gave it to you.

If you searc for something and Google says 0 searches, are you that arrogant as to believe you are so special that only you thought of that keyword?

No, not all 0 searched keywords have some searches. But some do. And you need to figure out which.

Start with what got you thinking about that keyword. Use another tool like Google's; is anyone running ads for it?; if it is a product, who is selling it?

  I love that we can openly discuss and see this as a benefit of being able to work with some very talented people here.
  
  So now my study goes into understand the 0 searches and uncovering the real numbers behind 0.
  
  My first call will be to turn off the setting that deletes these keys so I can see them and better understand them moving forward then to adjust as I go.
  
  I am open to any clues or signs for 0 searches above what's has been covered so far that could be helpful.

I am going to add further what DABK has stated...

With SEO in general there are 3 aspects you have to deal with. There is ON-Page, ON-Site, and OFF-Site. OFF-Site relates to backlinks etc, and for a "New" site, or someone new to the idea of Internet Marketing... in the beginning just needs to be ignored. OFF-Site SEO unlike the other 2 categories is something you EARN. Meaning a base of quality content is what's needed to get the recognition needed for say a guest post, or for a reader to share a post socially or on their site.

So this leaves us with ON-Page SEO and ON-Site SEO. In days gone by and even today when using SEO tools you will see terms like PA ( Page Authority ) and DA ( Domain Authority ). These terms are relevant today... However, as in days long gone, Google actually "Shared" your scores... they no longer do this, and in SEO tools these numbers are best estimations vs what was a once an "Actual" number.

So starting with ON-Page SEO you have things like the URL, Page Titles, H tags, Image Tags, Description Tags etc etc. Within the ideals of "Best Practices" these variables for the most part wil have no effect in terms of readability. So the whole argument just write for the reader and not for SEO is nonsense. Content Marketing IS an SEO strategy...and you can play to win, or you can be on page 75 in SERP's ( Search Engine Results Page ) and wondering why you don't have traffic.

ON-Site SEO starts with cross linking of pages based on Context, Structures like Silo, and a general overall score of the ability of your site to rank. ( there is a lot more but I think we all get the idea )

If you were to go over and read the SEO forum... general rule of thumb is a Page is ranked based on the merits of that Page... and as much as this is TRUE... its NOT a whole truth. The overall SITE score comes into play in determining a pages rank.

So we have 2 websites:

Website 1 - Content created around "Instant Pot"

Instant Pot Recipes ( Ranking on the 30th Page )
Instant Pot Clean Up ( Ranking on the 75th Page )
Instant Pot Chili Recipe ( Ranking on the 5th Page )
Instant Pot Orange Chicken Recipe ( Ranking on the 7th Page )

Website 2 Content created around Instant Pot Duo 60 321 6 Qt

Instant Pot Duo 60 321 6 Qt Recipes ( Ranking on the 1st Page )
Instant Pot Duo 60 321 6 Qt Clean Up ( Ranking on the 1st Page )
Instant Pot Duo 60 321 6 Qt Chili Recipe ( Ranking on the 1st Page )

Site #2 if I write an article on A beef stew recipe what is the likely hood it will rank on page 1? I would suggest the odds are kinda in your favor. Taking that a step further, using the idea of ON-Site Authority - which site has a better likelihood over time to rank on page 1 for "Instant Pot"?

Starting your site at basically the LOWEST common denominator is building the SITES Authority and increasing its ability to RANK pages.

We read it, and I know I say it all the time "Not all traffic is created equal". I want to target traffic that CONVERTS... but I am also mindful of the idea that building content across ALL of the buyer Cycles steps creates multiple touches and develops trust with the reader.

Over time... my attacking low lying fruit in the onset is setting myself up for success at the evergreen level "Instant Pot" with less overall work and stress, and the possibility of quicker conversions / results from my initial efforts.

I noticed there's some negative feedback on this guide. The feedback is correct in that this is very vague but if this guide is for someone who doesn't know what affiliate marketing is then it at least gives them an idea of what it is! Thanks for the post.

Affiliate marketing how to begin here are 5 simple steps.

1. Choose a Market The reason is quite clear that you would like to put more products in your pipeline.
2. Choose a Product You are going to want to add all the products at the beginning, but it is advised not to do this at the start. If you choose too many products, in the beginning, you will not be able to concentrate. Your attention will be diverted to different products.
3. Build a Lead Capture Page to Capture Emails
4. Build an Autoresponder Series
5. Find additional related products

No, this is not what you should do in my opinion haha

It's a waste of time and you earn tiny small commissions, how will this have an impact on your life?

Everyone should start directly the right way. And the right way is in promoting good funnels/systems leading to sales of $1000 or more.

Promoting amazon only makes sense if you are an influencer on youtube for example and if it is not your main online income source.
